So, Barbie(Who is a very diformed vision of woman, just saying) is telling us that trying to guess a SIM ETHNICITY is offensive... I love to challenge people to guess what I am. I'm a mixed(or a wonderful union of different countries who were, in the past, enemmies) woman. I'm a FrenchCanadian-Irish-Italian (and more). Am I offensed by this thread? NOP! So if you are not happy, than you are welcomed to leave.

Some people grow up with their ethnic background causing them a lot of grief, and some people constantly get asked if/assumed/told their ethnicity is whatever someone else thinks it is. To say someone doesn't have a right to find this offensive is IMO, wrong.
And to be fair, sims has NO ethnicities, they give us the tools to make sims look how we like, and to label make believe people with no actual association with real world places, ethnic labels seems like a step backwards on the road to acceptance of all people as humans.
That kinda breaks the heart of this Cuban sims player who LOVES Isla Paradiso though... :p
I'm proudly half-cuban/half-puerto rican with an egyptian first name so I've always been more amused than offended by ethnic assumptions. (Especially post-9/11) Anyone has the right to be offended and that should be respected. My advice would be those that might be offended don't have to click into the thread. Posters in this discussion, so far, seem to mindful of the line between conversation and offense and anyone crossing that line has a Flag button and forum rules to deal with them.
Or we could just be politically correct and change ethnicity for "distinctive but equal proud cultural heritage" when discussing our Sim American toons. Now, excuse me while I go petition Maxis to add Ropa Vieja to the sims cooking skill! ;)
