Not sure if a lot of the cutbacks in TS4 (especially no open world) were implemented because of Olympus, time/resources, or to keep the game running smoothly. At this point I don't care. Either way, I would like to play a game with as little to no bugs as possible, that runs smoothly without hiccups or loss of information.

I stopped playing TS3 because of bugs introduced as far back as the first expansion pack World Adventures that made aspects of the game unplayable which were never resolved. For example, traveling to another world and especially marrying someone from there could really mess up your family tree and you could return home to missing household members. To my knowledge that was never fixed.

So before I jump into my list I want to say that I would rather not have a feature or stay with a simpler version of a feature if that means the game doesn't get jacked up with something new you've implemented.

What can you do to make my TS4 worlds the best ever?

WORLDS

Open World
I wonder if it can be open world at least on the neighborhood level, where I don't have to go to a loading screen to enter a lot in that neighborhood.

Locations
Would like more worlds inspired by different cities within America and countries around the world.

Weather
Always felt weather should be a base game feature and different locations do call for different types of weather.

Restaurants
Wondering why these weren't in the base game.

Story Progression
I'm going to assume that you guys know how story progression should work so I am also going to assume that it is just too complicated to be implemented correctly.

GENERAL STUFF

Bugs
Fix all bugs as soon as possible or remove the features that cause them. Please don't just throw your hands up in the air and leave them there unresolved.

Loading Screens
I actually don't mind them as much as I thought; however, I would not want them to get any longer as more content and expansions appear in the game.

Social
Please keep other Simmers out of my gameplay.

Premium
Would prefer a monthly premium membership over micro transactions.

Cars
Would be nice even if they just drive off of the neighborhood screen or go right to loading screen when you get in.

For me theres only two things

If you cant make an open world at least lose the loading screens for each small neighbourhood , why I cant visit my neighbours without having to sit through one of those awful things I dont know

More colours - at the moment the only choice is in the pastel range. I love in-your-face bright , vibrant colours and without them my sims homes seem very dull

1. Options to have no loading screens between lots within neighborhoods.
4. A farm country world.

I would like the above as well as another neighborhood section added to each of our two existing worlds. I dislike bulldozing lots with homes already on them and would rather have a couple of more vacant lots which I could build on.

Also please bring back family trees. I am in my fourth generation now and am writing everything down by hand but would rather have something in-game to keep track. That way, when I play another family, I can see who is related to who as once a child grows up into a young adult they go out into the world to make their fortune :D .

Sims 2 style toddlers is a must for me.

If we must have the little hoods with loading screens - at least make the world open with in each of the little districts. Then it would be okay not to have a fully open world.

Those two things and I will be happy with the base game and will enjoy buying eps.

I think the Sims 4 worlds are beautiful and I don't mind the load screens at all. Mine last about 2 seconds and the game runs great, and I don't want that to change.

What I would like in the Sims 4 worlds is for each one to being very unique in style and theme and for the lots in community areas to have unique types of venues. I would like restaurants and stores that we can visit with our sims again. NO rabbitholes!! But what I want most is a creepy magic world like in the Sims 1. I miss that so much!!

What I did not like about the open world of the sims 3 is that when you were releasing a new Expansion Pack, the world I was playing in did not expand with the expansion. For exemple, if I played in Sunset Valley, I could not get all the fun from Island Paradise, since nothing from the islands and the boats was transfered to old neighbourhoods. So, I had to move my family into another city to enjoy the new content. What i expect from the sims 4 world concept is that world will expand as the expansion packs will be released and that the game will adjust to our family, not the family who must adjust to the game.

Thanks for reading :)

I agree with all of this but one. Why would you want the head to come up again? The way it is is actually a lot better than the way it was before.

In addition to these points:

Features to modify the worlds.
Improvements to experience of Build Mode.
Improvements to experience in community lots of the base game.

I would also like to see added these important items through free update soon. They are basic items that were in TS3 base game or its updates. In fact these are thing that influence the quality of our world.

CHbuM0t.png
Toilet Stall
My Sim uses toilet in the community lot and another Sim comes into the WC. So my Sim always stays ashamed. We must get over this situation by adding this item in the game.

SnndoRg.png
Male/Female WC Door*
It prevents many people from going into same WC at the same time. Well, it exists in real world for some reason...

*Put MANY colors for this item, pleeeeeese! In TS2 it made me SO angry because of this.

nsU5d0c.png
Urinal
It's a basic item to any male WC. It's a important detail to do the neighborhood a convincing and realistic place. It also helps to identify a male WC without looking at the door.

Hkcfvl0.png
Telephone
Where are the telephones in the game? How you can forget them? They can be found in any home nowadays.

51JPNA7.png
Narrow High Gate
I miss it. There are high gates but all are wide. There are narrow gates but all are low.

8Q6a2eK.png
Thin Fence
All fences are thick. There are no thin fences and many fences with modern design.

GDOaY3V.png
Dishwasher
Basic item. Rich people usualy have it. It's weird we don't have it in the base game.

YHalWap.png
Trash Compactor
Basic item. There is a trash campactor in TS1. It's weird we don't have it in the base game.

3Nrfy8D.png
Ballon Party
I can't give a birthday party because there is no baloon party in the game! There is a banner with balloons but it is locked. It also doesn't replace this item.

7Db2njR.png
Small Curtains
There are curtains very large for the windows. I miss smaller curtains, especially blinds.

8yjYyFf.png
Vehicles
They are basic items. Most people have cars in their homes. We need them in free update, at least a few of them. Currently there are no vehicles in the base game and there are no spaces to placement to garages in the houses of Willow Creek and Oasis Springs. I would like to share cars with any simmer.

Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to speak our minds. I agree with many of the comment thus far. Open worlds are much more exciting and more lots and sizes of lots to place houses etc.

In fact these are thing that influence the quality of our world.

For example, vehicles are importants because it's boring to create a world that requires an expansion for something so basic that all simmers will put in their worlds.

Create a world means build lot communities too. So when we have basic objects to build lot communities, we can be able to create a convincing world.

I hate to say it but I agree with 99.9 percent of this thread. Bring back the open worlds please. I still can't figure out why there is a loading screen just to visit a neighbor- when our sims can jog past the neighbors house

I got used to not having open worlds and it's not as bad as I thought. Plus apparently it can't technically be changed easily. But I do agree with many other players that Create-A-World that is much needed.
There are so many different atmospheres I would like my Sims to experiment, that it's impossible for the game to provide them all. In The Sims 3 we barely had any big city (even the Store didn't provide any !) and we had to build them ourselves, for instance. Lesson learned. Please give us a few patterns (with lots varying in disposition, number and size -- The Sims 2 style), give us the ability to decide of outdoors elements and decorations (including but not limited to ground type, vegetation, city equipment), and we'll take care of the rest.
It would also be nice to have as many worlds as we want since for now we feel so restricted with only two. Unless each EP comes with five new worlds, it'll never be enough.

I would also agree with others that we need more lot types, like restaurants, stores/markets, public buildings... A "campus" type would be nice to make schools of all sorts, even if the kids/teens wouldn't technically attend, they could find skill objects and places to do their homework, it'd make nice afterschool or summer school lots. Public buildings wouldn't have to be fully functional but it's nice to have a police station or hospital in the world.

Lastly I'd add more NPCs to make worlds more lively. A policeman could patrol the neighborhood every once in a while, for instance, or you could see garbage people make their run in the morning. They don't have to be functional (although that'd be nice !), just seeing them and being able to speak to them like any other neighbor would add a nice touch.

Tell us the features you most want to change your World. We have ideas, we have things a spinnin’, but we want to hear from you first hand. What can we do to help you make your The Sims 4 Worlds the best ever?

Lol, there seem to be some very broad interpretations of this open ended question.I thought about what could be done to improve worlds for me, and prioritized my desires below.

1. The world needs to be opened up. It feels more restrictive than Sims 2 right now (and yes, I did open that game up for a bit to compare instead of relying on memory). I see that happening by (in order of preference):
a. Returning to a Sims 3 completely open, seamless world (Impossible.) b. Opening up the game so that neighborhoods are seamless (Improbable.) c. Creating some new neighborhoods that had
more public space that could be used for public gatherings and interactions like parks, cafes, gardening, fishing, etc. (Possible.)

2. I would like for control to be given back to the player in the form of (in order of preference):
a. Create-a-World (CAW) tool that allows the player to: edit public spaces; edit neighborhoods (add or eliminate lots); edit world maps; add neighborhoods to worlds; and add worlds. b. Create-a-Neighborhood (CAN) tool that allows the player to: edit public spaces and edit neighborhoods. c. Public Space Editor (PSE) that allowed players to edit existing public spaces.

3. Addition of Maxis-made worlds (in order of preference):
a. The addition of worlds with completely different flavors from American suburbia: European countryside, African Sahara, Indian villages, South American Tropics, Scandinavian Tundra, Mediterranean Basin, bustling Asian cities, etc. Places that add variety. Settings include: beaches, mountains, jungles, countryside, concrete metropolises, and tundra. b. Worlds with blank or semi-blank neighborhoods (plus the PSE) for us to edit or build.
*Each and every* EP should come with *at least* one additional world. Cramming more stuff into a World that already feels tiny to many will only make it feel smaller.

4. Addition of Maxis-made neighborhoods to existing worlds (in order of preference):
a. Additional neighborhoods should come with CAN or at least a PSE. b. Neighborhoods should contain more lots 5-10 instead of 3 -5. c. Neighborhoods should contain some larger lots (we need room for the pools you’re adding). d. Neighborhoods should have more public space. e. Neighborhoods should have more to do in the public space – parks, gardening, cafes, fishing, camping grounds, etc. f. Some neighborhoods should have a mix of residential and commercial lots instead of all residential or all commercial within a neighborhood.

5. More Public Venues:
a. Restaurants, eateries, and coffee houses b. Nightclubs (improved) – with hot tubs, music (improved dancing), stages, singing, place to perform. c. Hotels/Motels – for weddings, banquets, reunions, eateries, shopping, and romantic get-aways. d. Markets – farmer’s, clothes, open air, etc. e. Day Spas – saunas, hot tubs, acupuncture, mani/pedis, massage therapy, showers, and more. f.
Aquariums
g. Theme Parks – water parks, Renaissance fairs, magic parks that combine Sims 1 Makin’ Magic activities with Harry Potter, fun parks. h. Zoos i. Public Services – firehouse (with bingo and chili cook-offs), Police station, city hall, etc. (Preferably with the introduction of more NPCs. With the increase in property tax between Sims 3 and 4, the towns should have plenty of funds for this. >:) ) j. Arcades k. Bowling Alleys

In real life, we may enjoy the convenience of being able to do everything on our computers or smartphones, but it’s boring to watch the Sims do it that way, so there need to be options to do some things the old-fashioned way like get up and go shopping at a store instead of E-bay.

************************************************

The rest of this may fall into the realm of a loose interpretation of how to make the worlds better.

1. I’d also like an improved build mode. It really feels restrictive as it is. There is too much automation and hand holding and not enough player control and choice. I think @blewis823 had a good description of how build-mode makes the world feel restricted, and there by less ‘open’ when she says that it feels 'assisted' and like the safety is left on.
After playing and building for years, the 'training wheels' feel ridiculous.

2. I’d like it so that when I switched lots, the Sims remembered and did the tasks I assigned them instead of just auto-filling their need bars.

3. Sims vanishing at the mailbox is a reminder of how restricted they are in their little boxes. I want (in order of preference):
a. Car pools to pick them up like the used to in Sims 2. (I love that honk!) b. Sims to have bicycles, skateboards, or Segways they drive off the lot and then off the public space to the designated portals of entry/exit in each neighborhood. c. I want Sims to walk off the lot and vanish at the neighborhood portal rather than the mailbox.

Sorry for the weird formatting. I was having trouble with ordered lists putting in numbers instead of letters when I used

and breaking when a url is inserted.

Keep them largely as they are, I and my computer thank you for this semi-open world and for the ability to play rotational once again (a eature that was missing from TS3 and made me skip that game entirely, purchasing none of its expansions). Also the worlds are breathtakingly beautiful.

However what we need is larger worlds, with more and larger lots, I'm running out of space! The ability to swim in the sea would be cool as well, grocery stores (walk in, NO RABBITHOLES) perhaps also a few more lots like the Sylvan Glade and Forgotten Grotto, but with more to do there (especially with super natural creatures this would be fun, like to actually meet Fairies in the Sylvan Glade) and cemeteries we can transfer our gravestones to.

Also we need a Create a World tool for this game I actually wan to create stuff, so please let me!
