The nice thing about the planters is you can place them inside. Me personally, I like them because I like being organized. I don't mind the new gardening either... seeing as how I can actually do it now and have my plants live... as opposed to TS3 when they (ahem) didn't so much. :\ I even got the gardening DLC item too, the one that waters/talks to all the plants at once. Nope. Still killed them. Every single time.
I didn't even think about putting planters inside in this game!
I like the gardening for the most part in this game, but I just liked it better in sims 3 for whatever reason. Then again, I didn't have any problems with my plants dying. I could see where that would be very annoying. Guess I just got lucky. I do love that they included strawberries this time.
I haven't even played around with gardening very much yet in TS4. I really enjoyed it in TS3, so I'll have to explore it more soon. I was just so excited exploring the game when I first got it that I kept forgetting to tend to the plants when I first tried. I'll have to give it another go now.
And I almost missed that update I'm about to go update my thread with a new chapter as well. Then I'm off to read

I'm probably going to try it too in The Sims 4, even without my precious toddlers... Can I ask a rather irrelevant question: do babies in The Sims 4 have different outfits according to gender or is it the same for both genders?
There is a mod that assigns new outfits for babies. I believe it is also according to skin tone and gender. Here is the link . It provides 10 different baby outfits.
This I do for the fun of it.
My Sims 4 Blog with Custom Content and Commentary is at Celynoir
I began this challenge not long after Sims 4 went onto Mac. Having fin, Baby six is on the way. Naming them in alphabetic order to keep track of birth order...
