Hi everyone and Welcome to my TS4 thread.

I'm a little late getting started over here due to some trouble getting the game up and running. I have an imac and had to do some work, before I could play with the new game. It seems that everything is in working order now.

I've been trying to get used to the new way of building. At first I didn't think I was going to like it at all, but I'm slowly getting used to it. There are some really awesome features I LOVE the ability to pick up your entire home and move it somewhere else on the lot. How cool is that!

I found out just last night, that this also applies to other things like fountains. I was so excited to realize that they can be moved too! I put a pretty elaborate one in the back yard on my WIP and decided it would look better out front. I started to try making a copy of it in the front yard when I thought I'd try just "moving" the entire thing and was psyched when it actually worked!

I still really miss CAS and MOO more than anything... I keep finding myself trying to slide things closer than the game will allow. And I hate that some of the items colors don't really match. Plus all the colors for the exterior seem pretty light. I wish they had some bolder, brighter colors.
And what is up with the edges, not being consistently placed on the homes exteriors? Some of the wall patterns fit perfectly fine, but others seem to place the edge molding only to one side. I hope they fix this with a patch soon.

This is the first home I built in the new game and I wanted to start with a "Starter". :D It has one bedroom and one bath and would be perfect for a single sim or couple, just starting out.

Hi Fiona, we actually had our weekend there last weekend and it was Fabulous, thank you! I finally cleared it from my wall, lol. :p I have TONS of catching up to do over here! Having two sites is not at all good for me, lol. I'm a poke when it comes to checking everything out in both places.

Cath, great to see your first build! :) And it's a perfect starter. It looks really well thought out, from top to bottom.

I completely echo your elations and frustrations with building in TS4. It's like every time I go to build, I discover something wonderful in one breath and something frustrating in the next. It's got me hooked though!

It is great that you have set up a showcase thread for your sims 4 builds :)
New Beginnings is a very nice home! Very nice exterior of it! The textures of the exterior look nice and it looks nice the types of and how you have placed the windows in the build. It looks very nice how you have done the roof covered front porchway entrance to the home! The stone texture looks great. The flowers look very nice how you have placed them on the front edges of the home. They are nice for sims to see when coming to the home. Nice curved back patio for sims to enjoy sitting on the seat there, enjoying being out in the sunshine. Nice furnishing of the interior. The floral wall pattern in the master bedroom looks very nice! It looks nice how you have placed the bedroom windows on the bedhead wall for sims to enjoy the sunlight coming in onto the bed through the windows in the mornings. Very nice furnishing of the living room. Sims will enjoy sitting resting on the sofa and armchair there, watching the tv or reading a book, having a chat, and at the same time enjoy looking out though the windows to see what is happening outside. The flowers near the tv and on the table behind the sofa are very nice for sims to see whilst sitting there. Great side wall dining area for sims to enjoy eating their meals at.
It is a very nice starter home :)

Hi Bry, thank you! Lol about being hooked! :p I can't believe I'm going to say this but, I haven't gone back to playing sims 3 since I started playing the new game. :o I really didn't see myself doing that! I am Absolutely Not finished with TS3 but I think I'm just having fun with the new toys. :p

Hi Rose! Thank you so much for your Lovely comments! :)<3 I saw your new thread and I am going to put my link in over there in just a few. I have one more build I wanted to put in here first. That was such a Wonderful idea you had! I'm so glad you thought of it! :D<3<3

This next build is a nice family home. It has four bedrooms and three baths. The main floor is open concept with the kitchen, living room and dining area together and the study is in a separate room on that floor. The lower floor has a master en suite with a private entrance to the nursery, girls room and boys room. There is also a nice play area for the kiddies on that floor. Outside there's a patio for the adults and a small play area out back for the little ones. Really wish we had some more outside play items.

Hi Cath.. I really like your starter home. I see your still playing around with all the new tools. In case you didn't know, you have even more counter options now. Just click on the color template and then there is another tab that unlocks many more cabinet/counter options. I hope you enjoy learning all the new tricks as much as I am.
  • WrathofCathWrathofCath Posts: 4,419 Member
Hi darkside, thank you! It's kind of ironic you're telling me about the counters, I Just found out last night, lol! :p I kept seeing these awesome cabinets in others builds and couldn't figure out How and Where in the world they were finding them. I finally googled it and there was the answer, haha! Thank you for sharing! :) It's the best way to learn! ;)

Welcome to the forums, Cath! Love anyone with a Star Trek reference in their name  Your two builds are great! I like the brightness of New Beginnings' interior and the bi-level design of Coastal Living with the stairway right up to the upper balcony is so reminiscent of the houses I see when I visit the Pacific coast! Favorited your thread.

You're on a roll, Cath; Coastal Living is another super build! I think Maxis gave it a favorite too, right? :D (I hope I'm not wrong about that! :o )

Sad to say, I'm definitely finished with TS3. Much as I miss some elements from it, I was very ready to move on. I especially regret not actually *playing* it more. I spent so much time building, that there was a ton of game content I never got to...like I never even tried the firefighter career! :\ Hope they'll gen that one up in TS4 again so I get a second chance. :p I haven't played much in TS4 either yet, not just because I'm into the building aspect but also because of the lack of any story progression. I can't stand the thought of the other simmies in town just aging and dying without my intervention, but there's no way I'm going to play all of them just to keep 'em going! Really hoping EA will implement at least a bare bones SP.

Hi Ash, thank you so much for your wonderful comments! :)

Sweet Rose, thank you for another of your very Lovely reviews! :) Your kind words always make me smile! Thank you for taking the time to have such a thorough look. :)<3

Hi Kamb, thank you! That's the Best kind of compliment! :)

Hello Tiki, thank you for your very kind comments! :D

Bry, I don't think I'm done with TS3 yet, but I can't believe I haven't played at all since I got the new game. I have some unfinished projects I'd really like to finish, so I hope I get some incentive to get going on those soon. I didn't really get to play with everything they gave (um er, sold us)either... Maybe someday I'll get a chance to really Play, with all the worlds and everything else. Right now, I'm just enjoying TS4!

Hi Pally, thank you for your lovely comments! :)

Yanti! Thank you for commenting both here and in the gallery. Much appreciated! :)<3

Hiya Manssom, thank you for the kind comments! Hopefully we will get a beach for the game someday, lol! :p

Hello Matt, thank you for the very lovely comments and for stopping in for a look! :)

The starter is so full of life! So pretty, I like it a lot. As for the Coastal Home, it is just perfect. The stairs leading up to the front door and the way you used color and clutter. Very nice!

Thank you Snow! I agree with you about hoping they give us some "fluff", lol. :p More clutter is always a good thing. BUT only in my game. In RL I'm as neat as a pin. Hate stuff lying about, lol :D
