Well Bob's social is already yellow. He's realizing his need for human interaction is important. He's still not ready or able to do it though. Bob's also realized a green thumb he has not. His gardening skill is still low (2) so what's he do instead....more...Grilled...Cheese.

It's a mere 90 minutes into day two and his progress is so hot, it's on fire. No wait, He's on fire AAAAAAH! FIRE!!!

Oh my! Guess that's where the fire extinguisher come in handy, eh?

Yea totally. Bob is having a good run of bad luck. He put himself out but then couldn't afford to replace the fridge and the the stove so he had to sell his super expensive painting.

Hopefully, once he starts talking to plants he'll have better luck with social boosts. This online chatting just isn't cutting it!

    *ugh...stupid double posting!

Can we use a build/buy mode unlocker mod to get items that are for career items or is that not allowed?

Personally I would say no because a challenge should be challenging! BUT you have to play it the way you want, because at the end of the day you play because its fun to do. I like the rules as they are, but that's not to say you cant do your own version of it.

@litabelaqua - I kinda guessed as much, there are just some things I like the look of better than the ones not requiring the unlock.
@Daemongrin - Thanks, I know I really wish we had skylights. I really like your avatar, he's so cute.

    Week 4 report

    week4_zps289ecaaa.jpg

Im just 1 point away from maxing out both gardening and writing skills which will give me another 20 points and very close now to achieving the Bestselling Author. Once that is complete im going to do the gardening aspiration to grab some useful aspiration points, I might then get never hungry trait or Antiseptic . Then once that's complete im going for Mansion Baron.

My biggest problem now is keeping the weight off my sim! she works out often, twice a day most days. I see her start to slim down then it just goes up again. Anyone with a weight problem knows exactly how that feels! its too life like lol.

Ive built a little onto the house, but its pretty horrible. I don't build well in Sims 4, I used to love it in previous editions but for some reason, the movement in the camera or whatever just has me reeling and I end up feeling sick. Even creating the 8x8 was an issue for me. So im just slapping down premade rooms. Cant wait to see the finished result because I guarantee it will be awful lol.

Bills are still low, last one was $587

House now with its additions, oddly enough the value has not increased, its still 13066, oh well that may change once I start the mansion baron

I seem to be stuck on the Bestselling author aspiration. Can you get writer's block with level 10 writing skill? I haven't abandoned the aspiration but I was wondering if I should?

    Hello!
I have been lurking this thread getting ready to start this challenge this morn. :)
To answer your question yes you can still get writers block but it will take some doing. Practicing writing was the only way my sim accomplished it because writing books doesn't take long enough. It seems it isn't the action itself that is giving our sims writers block it is when their needs fail and they become uncomfortable. So I had my sim already in the yellow on a couple of needs to speed up the process. Cut it down from a 6 sim hour project to a 2-3 hour.
    Hope I could help! :)

Yeah I have but it took forever (on my sim that is my avatar) I just kept at practice writing. And thanks Clay Kaufman is my fav Sim Childish, cheerful and a goofball.

I did it by waiting until fun was about halfway then maxed out all other needs except fun, then I just queued up 4 books to write on the pc and she had writers block when fun dropped to orange. If you plan for writers block then its pretty easy to get. You don't fulfil the need until they have recovered from writers block, so 4 hours later.

    Week 5 report

    week5_zps01cfcd2d.jpg

My error in following the writers career is now clear from the stats. My earnings took a dive while I was working towards it and daily earning of between 2k and 6k are NOT sufficient for this challenge. I can make that much on 2 or 3 paintings. I wasted a week in which my sim was unhappy most of the time, writing is not fun! so she had to work on keeping social AND fun maxed.

You must get the creative trait in order to write bestsellers, and that wastes aspiration points that could have been much better employed (no hunger for instance). Reducing your sims needs are crucial to this challenge. I lost sight of the goal which is to MAKE MONEY and to make money my sim has to work. She cannot work when she is eating sleeping peeing and talking to the carrot.

At least painting pictures is fun and profitable, also I think its not a good idea to get antiseptic after all, having showers is beneficial in raising her mood so that she works better.

She is now working towards Botanist as I like that aspiration. Does she really need it? she needs the aspiration points for never hungry but im sure I would earn those if I just switched to the Mansion Baron now instead of working another week towards it. But hey ho, decision made and at least she is now free to paint when she isn't gardening.

As im now doing Botanist I had to rejig the house as I really need 20 plants on the go. Once Botanist is complete I think I will reduce it just to 4 so can still socialise but spend less time tending them. I got rid of everything she does not need to make room for the plants

I gave up on trying to keep my sim slim, she is what she is, a renaissance artists beauty!

For a traditional play, I would say no. You can't get a job, so getting job related unlocks with emotional auras seems a bit unfair. But I'm not the Challenge Police, so if you want to, then by all means do so!

Or, if you wanted to buy them, and just put them every where but the playable room area, that would be all right. You're still paying money for them, and they still contribute towards your goal. And let's face it, you may want to use the house when it's done, so why not have all the good stuff in it? :D

Bob hit some rough patches early on (a fire that almost took his life on the second day) but he seems to be doing fairly well for himself now. He's 23 days old today and becoming quite happy with all his new possessions. He hung on to his hoarded paintings for the longest time but bills came and he needed some cash so he sold them all. He didn't realize he would have so much left over to buy new things with!

    Bob's current score: 127

    Lot Value: $50,112

    Week 6 report

    week6_zps9f0de813.jpg

So now Marie is on the final stretch and is now working towards Mansion Baron. She has completed 3 of the sections, has the required 20 columns and now has a house worth $287581, although there IS something odd going on with value, it jumps around a bit. I upgraded some of the furniture and the house value actually dropped by 3k, but that could just be overall devaluation going on possibly. Also one of the prebuilt rooms glitched and threw all the furniture into the household inventory. I think the room disappeared.

I wont post any pics of the 'McMansion' just yet, I will save that little treat till last but lets just say I wouldn't allow any sim of mine to live in it.

Creative trait was useful in the end, approx. 30% of my sims paintings are masterpieces now

I thought about creative for Bob but it didn't fit into his backstory that took me 2 days to write lol. Bob gets a 24/7 +4 (and 90% of the day it's a +5) happiness buff and when combined with his gourmet cooking, He can easily hit Very Inspired so he doesn't have much trouble making masterpieces thankfully.

On Thursday of week 7 Marie completed her Mansion Baron mission with 164 points

    mariecomplete_zpsbfdbebef.jpg

As promised the house is truly awful, I cant even get a roof to stay on it, it keeps glitching and there are holes in the roof where I can place it. I don't recommend using the rooms in buy mode lol.

Marie has changed somewhat as well, no matter how hard I tried in the first few weeks to keep her weight down it was a pointless struggle. She just wants to be big and beautiful!

Im not sure what to do with her now the challenge has ended, but she is a wealthy and well skilled young woman who has a talent for writing Books of Life. Something she cannot do for herself but she can do for other sims. So im going to save her to my library and if I don't actually play her as such she may well be a regular visitor in the future to write the Book of Life for whoever she comes across. Long live marie Bain!

    With the Program +5
    Technically Adept +5
Third Tier of Computer Whiz Unattainable. Requires Job!
    Fledge-Lingguist +5
    Handiness LVL 10 +10

    doris-16.jpg

I'm $1000 shy of completing the first tier of the Mansion Baron. I was working on the Computer Whiz Aspiration, but when it became impossible (reach level 2 of Tech Guru Career) I moved on to the Writing aspiration. I got past the first Tier for the first half of the week, then stopped to focus on making some cash. Toilets don't sell as well as I though, but bathtubs do! They cost $376 to create, but can sell for around $1500, which is a great way to ear cash. It's not as fast as painting can be, but it's more stable.

    doris-17.jpg

I encountered a strange bug though. After dropping in her crafted toilet and bathtub, I wanted to just have a room full of bathtubs off to the left there, bit it kept having a script error, and they wouldn't place. Very odd. Still, I made it a more proper room even though she can never visit. So close! So very close!

Ha ha, she's great! Love the before and after pics. It makes me think of that episode of South Park where they got addicted to WoW and just sat around in their rooms all day getting fat. XD You should upload your home and Sim to the gallery!

I'll add you to a Leaderboard as well.

Well, unfortunately, it looks like Carnegie doesn't get to have a telescope, after all. When I reloaded my game this morning, the observatory had disappeared into the family inventory. I worked on rearranging some stuff, but I still couldn't place it again.

    uhvh3d4.jpg

I'll have to get to work on that other house design.
