How is painting not fun??

«1
My painter sim's fun bar keeps getting depleted, why is painting not considered a fun activity?? If playing chess is fun, painting should be too.

Just had to get that off my chest, it's so annoying.

Maybe one of their traits is causing it? Painting works for my sim. Or it's another bug.

Painting increases fun in my game, bug?

Yeah, my female Sim does painting because she's in the Painter career (and I like having creative Sims use the easel) but her fun need depletes? A glitch, perhaps, or maybe emotions or traits or aspirations plays a part in this.

The phrase 'tortured artist' was invented for a reason. I suppose the pressure of needing to create and having to force that creativity for the sake of a job makes painting less fun than it might be.

One of my Sims has the "painter extraordinaire" aspiration, and her traits include creative and childish. She doesn't have an outside job but makes a ton of money painting, and it always fills her fun bar.

I believe that said before launch that those activities wouldn't fill the fun bar. I remember someone telling me that. Anyways, I don't think it's a glitch but very ridiculous, if I paint or draw I find enjoyment from that or I wouldn't be doing it.

    I noticed my sim...

    - paints lefthanded
    - has no paint pallette

Your sim is probably left handed then

I couldn't use it as a fun activity either. I was really disappointed. I hope they patch it in some day.

I really do think it's trait/aspiration dependent (the fun thing). My Sim LOVES to paint, is happy all the time, and has made tons of money.

LOL, thats funny. Maybe they made it possible for Sims to be ambidextrious? I haven't paid too much attention to the hands my Sims choose to use but now I'm going to watch them!

This urgs me, its the same with gardening, really if my sim loves the out doors, and wants to spend time planting stuff, it should raise her fun bar!

She is happy when she paints, and has made tons of money, but her fun bar gets depleted.

You might be right. I play tested a genius Sim and he didn't have fun at all. It wasn't challenging his brain enough I guess, because he got bad buffs for doing things that didn't challenge his mind. It's a totally different setup in TS4 I guess.

My sims is very happy painting, I am now having him view 30 painting, he is almost there.
He has been selling his painting, but now I am having him keep them to have the 25 painting.

I think it's bull that painting depletes the fun bar. But playing the piano or chess increases the fun bar. Ugh! This game is so frustrating! HUGE step backwards with this game.

My painter sim has the creative, perfectionist and loves art traits and she loved painting. It always fills her fun bar and it always puts her in either and inspired or confident mood.

It's the creative trait that makes painting fun. If you don't have that trait, painting doesn't raise fun. It's not a glitch, it's just the way it was designed.

To me it kind of makes sense - if you're not very good at art, you might not enjoy it. It could ruin your mood if you're aiming to be the next Leonardo Da Vinci, but it turns out you have the art skills of a toddler.
can you make sword in box light sword so sword come out when opened? then if sword is back after sword, use light saber on box, and saber will boxed after sword is out.

That's fair enough, and makes a lot of sense. I suppose not everyone likes painting, even Sims.

My painter sim does (often) have fun while painting, but not always. Not sure exactly why this is.

However, speaking as an artsy-type myself, I can safely say that painting/drawing is not always a fun activity. In fact, it can be a very stressful and un-fun experience even if the end result is more-or-less satisfying.
