But...Where are the Guru's going? :(

«1
Are Tator and Copeland moving to Sims 4, or are their jobs just over??? :( I think I'm more sad that Tator and Copeland would be out jobs then content. They work so hard and have been so awesome. Especially Alan who always popped in on our comments.

Sims 4 at the very least NEEDS these two! :(

Unless they want to be free then nevermind.

I'm wondering and feeling the same as you. They have done an awful lot for all of here at the Sims 3. But I do, as I'm sure all of us wish them the best at where ever they go or do.

I agree. Copeland,Tot and Simguru Kitty need to be ported over to TS4 after the Aigist Set. If not I wish them all the best of luck.

Several Store people were moved to 4 long ago like Simguru Azure,Sarah,Kelley and a slew of others. By coinsidence I think Sarah said her part in TS4 was the worlds. She did the worlds in TS3.

Kitty is so good at making lots she needs to be ported as well.

EA has a lot of games, and guru is just a corporate buzz word for "specialist." I'm sure these people handle other games besides the Sims franchise.

This is my concern too. Not just the gurus, but the whole team! The animators and modellers and coding elves and all. There are some very talented people on the team and they deserve the opportunity to work on TS4 if they wish to.

One feature of TS4 that annoyed me was the announcement of the premium membership thing. As I understand it, the deal is you pay a certain amount up-front and then you will save money on the content released that year. What BOTHERS me is that they expect us to pay for something when we have no knowledge of what quality that product will be. What content they will produce. It's like buying blindfolded.

IF I knew that Sir Guru Copeland (I knighted him) and the current store team were producing the new content, I'd snap the deal up in an instant because I have so much confidence in them. They produce quality content that appeals to me, and that I feel greatly enhances my game. I TRUST them.

At the moment I have very, very little trust in TS4 in general. No CASt, no toddlers??? Do you even KNOW your fans? What were you thinking? Not only that, but a lot of the marketing decisions and misinformation is really starting to get me down.

I like individual gurus, some of the people who we get to chat to really seem to be working SO hard and do seem to genuinely care. There are still certain people I do have a lot of respect for and confidence in. I just worry that there are certain people who seem to be making very stupid decisions. Who up there at the top is disconnected from the fans?

They NEED people like Sir Copeland because he is so finely tuned into our hopes and concerns, he understands us so well, and he genuinely appears to try his absolute hardest to please as many people as possible. The way he connects with the community is a huge strength. And I feel that is a skill that the TS4 team sorely sorely need right now.

It would be a huge shame if they let the store team slip through their fingers.

Right there with you Cinderelli. On all points. I am especially annoyed by the Premium Membership thing. Can the cash milking be any more blatant? I've never been against microtransactions but to be expected to pay a monthly sub to get them is beyond the pale. It's just wrong and, well, sleazy.

For The Sims 4... I thought it'd be an annual thing, not monthly. =o Like, $100/year.

EVERYTHING YOU SAID I AGREE WITH 100%!

Alan, you're the bestest! And Kitty is so talented! Tatertot, you're an expert at teases!

EA NEEDS you guys, cuz TS4 looks like it's going to suck SO hard that its lips might rip off.

With no more content being made now I have NOTHING to look forward to from EA anymore! :cry:All those unfinished Store sets~! *weeping bitter tears of misery* I had hoped that you guys would be allowed to stay at the TS3 Store to keep us TS3 simmers happy while TS4 crashed and burned. :P

Is this EA's way of forcing the diehard TS3 Generation to give up the ghost and move to TS4? :hunf: If so, they'll need to try a LOT harder; EA didn't even send me a g-d CAS Demo, so I say eff 'em.

Whatever happens though, if y'all end up unemployed and need recommendations from the fanbase, then I say whoever doesn't hire y'all is an idiot. Much love and well wishes, especially to you, Copeland, for giving us such BEAUTIFUL fun content all these years~! *group hugs*

Well I never! They'er wanting you to pay a monthly fee to get a suppostly discount on things in Sims 4! Do they think that everybody is so stupid to believe that they will be getting a discount? The cost of the base game and whatever stuff they come out with for it alone is going to be high. Then add in the monthly membership cost and tell me... what will you be saving? Really EA? Are you seriously becoming one of those greety uncaring companies that try to sucker people in with lies? I for one will definitly not be buying your Sims 4. :x Have they not heard the term "If it is'nt broke Don't fix it?" Things were good in the Sims 3. The gurus,Coplen Kitty and Tattortot were and are great people. They put their heart and sole into it. They cared about us, the simmers and we will all very much miss them. It will simpily not be the same.

    This.

I mean... of course TS3 was broke. Very broken! And the thing is: I was expecting them to fix it. I thought TS4 would be a chance to take the best bits of previous games and make them BETTER! But I don't feel they are doing that exactly.

The no CASt thing was a huge let-down for me because I use it constantly. But I thought, well, they are trying to make the game run better on the average computer. So I got over that (sort-of), I just figured I'll have to start making/using cc again.

But... no toddlers? Seriously? One of the main things I expected to see in the new series was a focus on the family. The sims themselves, who they are, who are the people around them? I did not want a load of young adults running around acting like *******. I think I made that clear with my feedback a long time ago. I liked the family aspect of The Sims 2. I was frustrated that they didn't focus on it as much in TS3 (good thing the store team brought us the toddler items and toys). I expected it in TS4. And I don't want to hear anything about them being added to an expansion pack. That's not the point. The point is that this is clearly not a priority for them. The warning bells are ringing.

Sorry, I'm in rant mode. That wasn't directed at you, pepper. I just took your comment and ran with it!

But, yes, exactly. They had a good thing going here. From my perspective the store seemed to be doing well and taking money. I think they stopped it too soon.

I feel this way too. What do I have to look forward to beyond the last set? Great custom content I suppose. There are a lot of brilliant looking user-created worlds I need to explore! And a certain person's Tumblr I need to plunder.

I do wonder if they are trying to 'force' us to make the leap to TS4. I suspect they are. In my case it backfired. I need more time to transition. A base game is never going to win my heart. Especially a base game that does not allow me to build outside the developer's box. At least with TS3 we had CASt to play around with to individualise our games. (Hasn't anyone else started to feel like all the sims' outfits are looking a bit samey?)

If the store had continued to make new content for long enough for TS4 to get a bit of depth then I would have shifted more easily. All this has made me do is want to dig my heels into the ground.

I agree with what everyone is saying 100% but unfortunately those days are gone. So many things are profit driven. Companies now figure out how many "Fans" they'll lose over the cost and decide on that basis.

Very much this! I agree 100%! To be honest I feel even MORE bitter and not wanting to buy sims 4 BECAUSE the store is closing so soon. I was hoping it would have stayed opened for a long time. Like I feel it's all 4's fault. lol Nothing has blown me out of the water yet about 4. I can give a rat's behind about emotions. The sims in 3 has emotions!!As far as toddlers go, no one should have to pay extra money in the future just to have them in their game. Also no pools or basements. :? How am I going to kill off my annoying sims now? lol

I don't know if Tatortot or Copeland is moving on to 4 or not, but wherever they do go I hope it's.....an upgrade. They care a lot about the community and actually LISTEN to what we want. The past few sets has been amazing and so much stories can be told with our game now. A huge thank you and hug!

AGREE. and I especially like that you knighted SirGuruCopeland!

But I doubt if the subscription thing is going to save anybody any money. Knowing EA I figured what they meant was that you pay a monthly fee and for that you get to purchase everything at regular price at an earlier time than folks without a subscription plus you get a few little extra objects which are never offered to folks without a subscription like a chair or a clothing item. (Release date doesn't concern me, but I would like the extra stuff in my game, if I were to play.)

The only thing I can add to this conversation is that I completely agree with everything that has been said already. You all summed up my feelings perfectly. and so much better than I ever could (which is a little sad considering I have a degree in journalism and a minor focused on English  )

I do sincerely hope wherever the gurus and non-guru store team devs are going, be in withing EA/The sims or not, they have the best of luck. They have amazing talents not just for the gaming but in regards to connecting with their fanbase.

It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.

(jaw drops to floor -- tries to pick up jaw, and fails)

They want you to pay up front for things you have never seen? To make an investment of an amount that guarantees you MUST buy X number of things in order to break even on their offered "discount"?

They are actually telling you to put your money in their bank, while they get the interest on it, and you are forced to buy more of their product in order to recoup your "investment" in their company??????

    What a scam. They're grifters.

I have never heard of anything so outrageous, in all my life. They ought to be sued over that "business model." It's absolutely immoral.

    I'm offended.

I'm getting from the store what I still have simpoints to get, which will include the canal set and a few goodies I have never picked up. That will use up my last simpoints.

And I swear, EA, those simpoints were the LAST DOLLAR you will ever get from me! I'm walking away with my integrity. Your company is scum.

However I literally just heard something else that has made me disappointed in the company. The bad things just keep on coming, don't they? :?

I really don't think we should be judging a game before playing it. It's like judging a book by its cover - we haven't even read the book yet. We need to give ourselves a chance, try it out, if we don't like it then we don't like it. Personally, I have too much faith in this franchise. Never for a second have I ever considered that The Sims might flop.

I'm on the fence with the Store not producing any more content after August's release. I mean, half of me is really sad, the other half feels "too much of a good thing isn't a good thing." So maybe it's time. I'm also pretty certain that we'll all have the option to choose whether or not we'd want to do the monthly/yearly subscription. At least I hope so.

Mr. Copeland, you're very talented, I love your work. Can we be besties and share crayons?

I really am concerned for TaterTot, Copeland, Kitty, and the rest of the Store Team. I sure hope they're able to transition to Sims 4 if that is their desire. Best wishes to them if they don't have that opportunity or choose to pursue other options. They're good people. And that's a rare thing at EA.

I'm not thrilled about this Premium Subscription business. I'm gonna wait until I have the facts and then decide. I'm thinking that the big deal with Sims 4 is keeping it lean and mean, as it were. That means not a lot of store content. I might have to pick and choose more carefully in the future.

I hope the Store Team will be allowed to post and let us know what's up with them. I'm very concerned.

I am one that got the sims 4 demo so I did try SOME of it. I can't express enough how much I HATED IT. I already spend enough time in CAS and I can already see myself racking on the hours trying to create a sim that I can BARELY stand to look at. Having lego looking sims inside a Pixaar world is not my thing. Knowing myself, my game would be modded out the behind just so I would stand a little enjoyment from it. Buying an overpriced game, for unappealing visuals, only to end up with free CC and mods? Nope. Not giving it a chance.

Guys. Now you are going to be sorry to get me started  Generally, I'm not a mean person but I swear EA's business as usual pathos really has a talent for bringing out the worst in me. Glad to see Peter the Sims again, when I first met him it was on the thread about the BAU Bistro set issues. There I also first met Mistletoe, Craven Lestat and a couple others. I began realizing there's a community of loving and supportive simmers! Now when I need help with my game, I do indeed get by with a little help from my sim friends  It used to be that I only ever called EA customer service by phone, got a hold of a supervisor, and complained my head off to them about my dissatisfaction with their poor communication to its fan base. I appreciate the apparent kindness of EA supervisors in cust serv, the free sim points, the apologies, the sincere attempts at helping me solve whatever current problem with my game. However, given the familial environment created and maintained by its fanbase, I feel EA has a long way to go to be the company it could potentially be. And this improvement could start by far more transparent practices; let us fans know who (names, job titles)is making which decisions that ultimately impact our games, what team (names, job titles)handles what aspect of game development/production, which branch of EA is accountable to whom and to players, and the list goes on. Fans really aren't allowed to "see" more about behind-the-scenes EA, and this is where fan trust is built. A fan base as passionate as we are, is deserving of increased accountability and transparency from EA as a whole and not just a few employees. Really, its not EA that keeps me playing the Sims franchise. Lol, if it were left solely to them I'd have quit this game last year. Its the community of simmers that keeps me coming back for more. You guys, and Sim Guru Copeland, are the ones I've learned to trust. But as great as my sim friends are, EA remains the recipient of my money and I definitely keep this in mind regarding future game purchase with them.
