Thanks Samm! Scores will be up tomorrow...

Really sorry for having been gone for a long time! I'm really struggling juggling this as well as real life currently as I have a lot going on. I will be ending this competition after scores tomorrow, and one final assignment - and yes winners will be announced as well as a siggy the week after! I hate to do this, especially as I have seen hosts before who have dropped competitions which has been disappointing but now I realise how much time and effort (as well as passion) it takes to host a competition. I would really like to continue this but I just don't have the time or drive anymore  Really sorry, I hope you guys understand!!

I'm sad that it'll be ending so soon, but I TOTALLY understand. Real life is more important, and you do need to have the time and passion to host a comp. Don't worry. I would rather you finish it early than force yourself to continue with it. :-)

Eee, thank you judges! I'm really glad I went with that idea as soon as I got it, it's one of my favorite pictures I've ever done.

Checking in! I've seen the new assignment. I love those kinds of pictures, so I'm looking forward to doing this one.

Thank you for the scores. I already have an idea, I just need to gather a few props so I can make the poses for it. :)

Thank you for the scores, I knew I wasn't gonna do well like the last one...i wasn't happy with the final product when I submitted it, in fact the only thing I was confident about it was the story part. (I think I did pretty good.) Thank you again! And thank you for letting me be apart of this contest.

Franco, as I mentioned earlier, my comments got mixed up with comments for another contestant last assignment, and I am just waiting for Iona to email me back about it. Sorry about that :XD:

I have a question. The requirements state "side by side". However, both my before and after photos are in landscape orientation and it looks terrible side by side. Would I be docked if I placed them with the before on top and the after on bottom for a better fit?

I will go ahead and post my photo with the images top to bottom. Iona, if you want it the other way, I will update my post with the side by side one, as I have it saved both ways. The image is completely unaltered other than orientation.

    Please judge full size.

    As told by Sabriel...

When I was young, I wasn't independent at all. I clung to my mother everywhere she went. On my first day of Kindergarten, the teacher had to call my mother to come soothe me. When she arrived, I was on the swing, crying because I missed her. In a calm voice, she told me that she loved me and that no matter what, she would still be my mommy when I got home from school. She said it would all be okay, and that I had to be a big, strong girl for her.

When I grew up and my father passed away, I always assumed that I would eventually be the one to take care of my mom as she got older. So when the day came that she told me she had cancer and only had a little while left, I tried to be strong for her. It had been years since I'd cried for my mother, maybe even since that day on the swing, but I found my strength replaced with vulnerability, and once more I cried. And just like all those years before, when she soothed me with the soft, sweet lullaby that was always her voice, she once again touched my face and told me how much she loved me and how proud she was to be my mother. She said it would all be okay, because I had grown into a big, strong woman, and that she would always be my mother, even when her presence was but a whisper in the wind.

Now that she's gone, I occasionally find myself alone with my thoughts, and they sometimes drift back to her. Whenever I get sad about her loss, a feeling of warmth will come over me, as though she's there with me, assuring me that it'll all be okay.

Ante, that is such a beautiful story to go with beautiful pictures. They made me cry. ;-; It really reminds me of the song "Fly Away" by Corrinne May..

Here's mine! I apologize for the small size; I think the side by side thing messed it up a little bit. If you click on the link below it should look a lot better, hopefully! Especially if you click on the magnifying glass at the lower right hand corner.

    <a href="http://s1090.photobucket.com/user/ictigers21/media/Sims/BeforeandAfter_zps554be088.png.html&quot; target="_blank"><img src="http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i375/ictigers21/Sims/BeforeandAfter_zps554be088.png&quot; border="0" alt=" photo BeforeandAfter_zps554be088.png"/></a>
    Bigger

I always loved to play dress up as a little girl, especially with my best friend Kayla. We would always try to be models, posing and being sassy in our cute little dresses, and my parents always wanted to take pictures of us. We were, to be honest, kind of adorable. As I got older, Kayla continued to be my best friend, helping me through thick and thin, and my parents were there to document the entire journey as we grew up side by side.

When I was twenty-four, I met Adam, a handsome, amazing man, and barely a year later he proposed; I was engaged! It felt surreal, and the wedding date couldn't approach fast enough. I was, however, having an extremely hard time finding a wedding gown. Nothing seemed me enough. Nothing just screamed "Jessica!" like I wanted it to.

After a few weeks, I became discouraged, thinking that I would never find my perfect gown. One particular day, however, my mother was flipping through an old photo album, filled with pictures of Kayla and I, and she showed me a picture of the two of us in my baby room, posing like the little models we thought we were and wearing cute little dresses with the most amazing floral pattern. Mom said that it was from a bridal collection, and that we had begged for the dresses for our birthdays. Right away I knew; that was what I wanted for my wedding dress.

By some miracle, we managed to find the collection through numerous phone calls and fitting appointments, and it was a dream come true. My gown was beautiful, and so was Kayla in hers as my maid of honor. On my wedding day, for nostalgia's sake Kayla and I decided to have our last photo shoot before I was married and headed to the other side of the country with Adam, so we posed and "strutted our stuff" in my bedroom, remodeled since we were toddlers, still best friends as we had been for our entire lives, and as we always will be. Kayla is like my sister, and after twenty-five years together, nothing will ever tear us apart no matter what life throws at us, or what kind of people we eventually become.
