Anyone Getting Ready for the Bakery?

«13
I've been building a community garden in anticipation of the bakery. Now that I know it won't auto-restock, I am hoping that my other idea will work. I'm still going to place the necessary bakery items on the lot, but instead of owning it, I hope I can just show up, make the stuff and then have a sort of on the spot bake sale. I'm remaining hopeful that this is a possibility. It's a community garden, so hey, it's for everyone to enjoy and work together, right?

Here's what it looks like so far:

The almost finished lot. The only thing I have to add is the bakery stuff.

The rest of these are from when I was play-testing the routing.

<a href="http://photobucket.com/&quot; target="_blank"><img src="http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h74/MistyBlue95/screenshot1_zps0a2310f5.jpg&quot; /></a>

<a href="http://photobucket.com/&quot; target="_blank"><img src="http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h74/MistyBlue95/screenshot-410_zps9d7578b0.jpg&quot; /></a>

<a href="http://photobucket.com/&quot; target="_blank"><img src="http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h74/MistyBlue95/screenshot-610_zpse1e6cb43.jpg&quot; /></a>

So what are you doing to prepare? I think I'm also going to make a pizza parlor. I always wanted one in my game.

I plan on having at least one family where they live above the bakery or restaurant, although if I want to play with a large family like I always do I'd have to set up 3 such commercial/residence on one lot, right next to one another. Lots of places in town have shops where people live upstairs :D

I have an experiment I'm going to try, thanks to mods.

I'm going to create an elderly couple, no kids. One will have max skill in cooking, and will know all the dessert recipes, the other max skill in gardening. I'm going to put them on a lot with minimal furnishings but with a large lot with the tractor. They'll both take Age Freeze Potion so they won't age, and I'll set up NRaas Story Protection so they won't cheat on each other. I'll have them own the bakery and start operating it, then I'll switch households and see if my Sims will be able to visit the bakery and purchase items. See, I want the bakery, but I don't necessarily want all my Sims to have to operate it...it's going to be a lot of work and my Sims have lives.

Or downstairs -- you could put the family in a basement and have a door that's locked to everyone but your household, with stairs leading down to the basement apartment.

Very beautiful and inspiring! I can't wait til the bakery comes out and you upload.
It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.

It looks good. A lot of work has gone into it and it shows. I hope you get the bakery idea to work. We are all wondering a bit how we'll make it work. I suppose it is just another one of those little problems this game gives us to solve.

I hope you post more pictures of it when you have your bakery working. I'd love to see how it looks then. I hope you get lots of townie sims visiting and using the garden. I've tried to make a community garden yet.

I love that lot, looks amasing!

Currently playing a family in Riverview with quite a bit of money which is handy as venues aren't cheap to buy. The daughter will be aging to teen soon and I think I'll focus on her cooking skills, Mum can't cook at all as all she does is write :-)
Thinking of knocking down the art gallery as no one ever visits there anyway, but not sure on the lot size needed.
Have another perfect family in Moonlight Falls who will be running the bakery there.
Really like the idea of a pizzeria, can just picture it now.
    Thursday can't come soon enough.

Wow! This puts ALL my community gardens to shame! It looks amazing!!!

All I've done to prepare is convert the elixir shop from SN into a bakery ready for when we get the set. I'm not very happy with it though so I'll probably wind up doing it again.

Yes, I am starting a new game in Monte Vista. I am going to spend the next few days redoing Monte Vista.I was not pleased how I redid the world the first time around, really mucked it up.

I'll be putting my version of Grandpa's Grove which I named Community Work Farm into Monte Visa.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. And I like your ideas.

SugarRave - I would love to have an apartment above a store. I would like to make one for the pizza parlor, which is how they've always looked in my old city neighborhood.

lataya24 - I like the idea of having the harvestables change for the season. I did not know that could be done. Care to explain?

chopin27 - I would love to see pictures of your new bakery!

Karritz - I'm not above using mods to get it to work for me. I hope I won't have to, though.

Cinderellimouse - I love converting buildings. I do it all the time. I love the SN architecture and love using them as different things.

cherid87120 - That is a beautiful lot! I love how you set up the cow and chicken area. I can never think of what to do with those weirdly not closed pens. LOL

Mstybl95, I'm definitely ready for the bakery this week. I purchased a SimPoint bundle last week in anticipation of buying it for myself and a few of my friends.

    Your lot looks lovely! :P

The tractor doesn't get everything. It gets most of the that is near the track, but it doesn't get the mushrooms or the pumpkins on the other side of the building. I figure I would leave some things available for my sims to gain gardening skill. Most of their houses are too small for gardens so I like to have a community garden for them to use.

Nik24X7 - I can't wait, either. I bought some simpoints and I'm just waiting for the moment the button appears.

Those are too cute! I love the way you used the slanted columns with the greenhouse pieces. The colors are great, too!

noddy - That really sucks about you guys not being able to buy simpoints. I think someone who was "let go" made sure to bring down the system a little bit.
