I have it, not sure yet if it's worth the money. I had to laugh though, here we have the medieval theme with elves and dragons, and then a taxi pulls up outside the house.

In my opinion it is not. The town itself is beautiful, but if you are planning on playing the sims in a medieval time setting, you will have a lot of redecorating to do. I played around with some of the premades and noticed that none of the furniture in the houses matched the time period at all. The sims had dishwashers, laptops, not to mention the carpool that comes for work everyday.... I just couldn't do it, it felt like my sims were dirt poor wearing these old looking clothes but with expensive modernized furniture in the house lol. I found a family I really liked, and moved them into a house in Moonlight Falls. I gave them normal furniture and a change of clothes lol.

I played it for a few hours yesterday. You have to be into the medieval era, and be able to accept that it's supposed to be a modern town - taxis, tv's, dishwashers and all that....but I do, and I can - not to mention it's absolutely beautiful - so I am love it!

Worth what I paid? The new build/buy items and new clothes (did I mention the beautiful locale?), make it worth it for me.

If you're not a medieval perfectionist, it's a wonderful world -- quite beautiful and well designed. I did a little bit of redesign on one of the Community lots after people reported Sims getting stuck, and I converted the two drinking places to Late Night drinking establishments, but haven't run into any routing errors just yet. The residents are a lot of fun -- I did change a few of them in my game to Supernaturals -- and there've been some interesting developments; Fintan and Aine Mithrilen just got divorced after declaring themselves enemies for life! (I also made them vampires.)

I'm going with the scenario of the town trying to hold onto as many of the old traditions as possible, but like most areas they can't hold back the tide of progress especially as the children age and start to rebel against their elders, wanting more modernity. Next project is to look at the library and see if there's a way I can remodel it to add room for the University objects, especially the science station.

I love the world and the design they put in some of the objects, rabbitholes, and even the lots themselves.

I still have much building/changes to add to fit my certain tastes, but I plan on delving into more.

If you want to read more about it and see what Dragon Valley has to offer, check out my review found here:

Plus, the price is just wonderful compared to all other store content.

    DV Gold: $35 bundle
    includes:
    DV
    $19.00 worth of Points
    Celtic Lands Set
if the Celtic Lands Set was sold separately, I think Azn broke it down to being worth roughly 850 points.
    *calculates*
    35 - 19 - 850 = 750.
hmm. So, if you do math like that (which isn't a stretch, really, all things considered) the world itself costs about $7.50.
a WORLD for $7.50?!?!?! I will buy that all freaking day long, thank you.

even if it does require some creative editing and imagination to get it back to a less modern feel, I still think it's worth it.

No one is going to be able to predict your reaction to this world. If you enjoy it immensely, you are going to conclude it was money well spent. If you are so-so about it, you may doubt your purchase. And if you find it is not your cup of tea, you will regret your purchase.

But that will be all about your reaction, and it won't matter what anyone else thinks.

Personally, I am enjoying it immensely. So I would spend the money again, in a heartbeat. Well worth it, to me. Well worth it.

    Your mileage may vary.

I remember back in an interview where the question was ask if this was a medieval world and the answer was "not exactly" so all the people being cry babies about the modern stuff needs to take a chill pill, the world is beautiful and slightly medieval, make the world what you want it to be or not buy it at all because it is just another world with some nice new content. I'm not overly impressed with DV but I buy for new content mostly

I would say it worth , depends on my fee (22 USD for gold edition in my region). I admit that I'm not the perfectionist, the bus and taxi that can't be deleted neither are the refrigerators . All I do was just "ignore" them. The town itself and the buildings also sims in the town are all well designed. And I like the violin performance they should release it earlier in University Life.

It was worth it to me -- but not as it was right 'out of the box'. I took my time to place a lot of medieval lots I downloaded from the exchange, kicked out a bunch of elves and replaced them with my own families, and edited a lot of the remaining elves in CAS so that they weren't so rainbow. After all that, it was finally the world I wanted it to be. But I had certain ideas about what I wanted from the start! If you're not a perfectionist about your medieval fantasy, then you may like it just fine as it is.

Now that I've started playing in the world I'm really enjoying it (even the parts I didn't edit, haha). I love the atmosphere, and of course the dragons. There are some really beautiful, scenic places in the world. So I would recommend it, but it's really up to you whether you think you'll like that type of setting or not. :)

In my personal opinion, I say it's definitely worth it...
I've never played the Sims Medieval game, so this is the closest I've come to anything like it and I love it.

I knew we would have all the normal modern amenities in the world, just like the rest of the game and that's fine with me. In fact, I really like that it's not truly in the dark ages. Plus, I'm a huge fan of the supernatural/occult sims, a town full of elves is the perfect spot for me to add witches, werewolves, vampires, and of course fairies. :)

To me it was worth every penny. The build objects are awesome. The new roof details, the ginger breading, as I call it, is to die for. The Celtic pack is great. The new bathroom objects are super. The green dragon that can take care of the largest garden in the time it takes your sim to tend one garden patch....priceless. The purple dragon makes charisma skill a snap. The venue that you can buy with the gold pack is okay, but the objects that come with it are the best!

If you really want a authentic medieval world you can download a world made for that purpose, it's all paths no roads, then put in the rabbit holes, venue, and build some beautiful things with all the new objects.

To sum it up. Yes knowing what I know now I would buy it again.

That's the thing, I keep seeing people throwing around the term medieval but this world doesn't scream medieval at all to me really. It's a total mash up of completely random stuff which is what turns me off of it. Lets not forget medieval is a loose term and basically covers around 10 centuries worth of stuff.

I would say don't go into the world expecting it to be strictly a medieval theme and you'll probably like it OP. Look at pictures and check youtube for videos (there are a few up already), I find after watching some videos I'll be pretty sure whether I want a world or not.

So far I really like it.....but if you are "purist" expecting a true medieval experience you'll be disappointed.

I believe that in the walk through it was said that it was more a medieval "styled" world that was living on the edge of modern technology.

The upside for you is that you could use a lot of the build/buy items with one of the custom player created worlds to get a more realistic medieval world.

I did come across a couple of bugs. On Friday my game was playing perfectly. On Saturday I downloaded and installed DV. Now I can't grow eggplants and lemon trees....which I could before installing DV. The other bug was with the Faire venue. When my Sim went to that lot my mouse suddenly started going crazy. It jumped around the screen erratically and I couldn't click on anything on the control panel at the bottom of the screen. Once I left the lot using keyboard commands it went back to normal.

I would say if you have the money to throw away, go for it. There are some nice clothes, the violin and archer stuff which is if you buy the venue. The roads are nicely done. I would not call this a medieval town in no shape or form. It is a wannabe medieval town.

It is nicely done in space and some very beautiful buildings. So if I would call this town anything..it would be the Modern town that collided with Medieval ..it is more modern than anything.

You could make a medieval town with a lot of work and mods. But I'm just not in the mood for that kinda work.

    I won't go into the flying lizards...heh.

I think Dragon Valley is a beautiful town. I am not into medieval things or dragons and won't use those features at all, but it is worth it for the scenery alone. I built a house on the connected island and love that my sims live on their own little island. I wish the lot size were bigger though. There seem to be a lot of islands and it seems as if it will fit well into the next expansion pack Island Paradise. So, it depends on what you want to do with the town and your playing style if it is worth it to you to buy it or not.

Same here. I have more invested in Monte Vista build-wise but I am totally happy with what I see so far in Dragon Valley. I am yet to *play* the world as I have been busy doing other things.

This road thing... and MrHawk extracting the terrain paints from all the store worlds for us to download (only works if you bought the world) makes the store worlds much more valuable, at least as far as this builder's opinion goes. I actually prefer player-created worlds best of all because most of the various world creators don't choose to limit themselves to building for only the base game like EA does. Why EA chooses to shoot itself in the foot over this is beyond me.

Yes, I do get it that EA builds assuming the buyer only owns the base game but as I (and we, collectively) are not privy to the information about how many buyers there are who only bought the base game, well, the numbers are just question marks to us and so the answers are not available for us to completely comprehend their "logic" behind this choice.

Dragon Valley is a gorgeous world and seems like it might be the best so far, with Monte Vista either matching it in quality or running a very close second. That's my opinion. (Many others would disagree with my opinion and place Lucky Palms in the top spot but LP is not a builder's paradise when it comes to coloring everything because the lighting is funky and for myself, the whole gambling thing turns me off and in real life, I don't do Vegas.)

NOTE: MrHawk should have the terrain paints for Dragon Valley available at that same link above shortly.
