"how old are you" ?

mikitta47mikitta47 Posts: 2,250 New Member
Seriously need the option to ask another sim how old they are. Because I am VERY tired of marrying in a townie who LOOKS like a young adult but has two days left till they age to elder once I gain control of them.

I play the Apocalypse Challenge (http://ts3ac.wikispaces.com/) and it can seriously destroy my game when this happens.

EA - how long has the game been out now and we STILL can't ask sims how old they are? Really? That long?

God Bless,
mik

I'm not sure which EP it was, but it's definitely in there now, they tell you how many days older they are than the sim that asked. I'm fairly up to date and only missing a few stuff packs.

Saying that I do run a fair few NRAS mods so it might have been in one of them.

Never thought of that...but I like the concept and I can see how that could come in handy. 8)

Unless I'm missing something I have not ever seen this and I have all EP's/SP's. :?

Just asking...are you currently using any MOD?

I ask this because sometimes players claim it came from TS3, when actually it came from a MOD they downloaded and was not aware the interaction/etc.

Edit: Okay...then it's part of a MOD then. Because I am CC/MOD free. Although it's possible for me to miss some interactions actually in-game. Like the woo! interaction for party animals.

It was mods. I've played vanilla and with mods. The only time I have ever seen that option is with NRaas Mods.

It also adds the option to ask Sims what sexuality they are.

Yep, must be one of those then, probably Master Controller or Story Progression (which slows my game down a lot, but makes things so much more fun)

Yeah, the ask age is Master Controller. It reasonably should be part of the base game - there is no reason why they didn't add it in except for just not thinking about it because they are stuck in a box and think everyone will play with aging off.

I would love to play w/ MC, but it lags out my game so badly I can't. I would like to play vanilla too, but then my game lags out and glitches so bad I can't do that either. I have to have overwatch to get rid of the stupid amount of derelict cars in the neighborhood and I have to have debugger to unstick all the stationary and stuck and stuck aging sims that chew up memory.

Cosigned!! I get so frustrated when that happens! Being able to figure out how old another Sim is would help eliminate some ill-fated pairings.
Hi. I'm Danger. I like spaceships, Pringles, and cats. I dislike fruits and vegetables, sunlight, and the motion picture Titanic. I do not own a sword, nor do I know how to draw unicorns. As you can see, I don't have much to offer the world.

Let me ask you this if some random stranger came up to you and asked you How old are you? Would you feel comfortable with that question? Alot of people today don't like being asked that question. It seems innocent but it can be quite offensive to some people. I will give you two examples of this.

1.There is a Man with silver hair walking down the street with a toddler in a stroller. A nice young woman comes by and says my aren't you adorable to the Toddler. The woman stands up and tells the man "what a beautiful grandchild you have?" The main says, "Why thank you but he isn't my grandson. He is my first born son!" with the sweetest of voices when he looks at the kid. The woman then asks, "How old are you?" believing he was a male who cheated on his wife and left her for a younger woman. His response, " I'm 30 years old. I know I look old but it's because I am on my way to a costume party."

The woman above assumed the guy was old because of the hair color when in fact it was silver paint and a mask for a costume party.

2.There is a family of four walking into a restaurant to be seated. There is an older gentlemen, a woman and two young girls walking with them. When they get to the seat the waitress asks if anyone would like anything to drink. As she walks away the family looks through the menu for what they would like to eat. The waitress comes back with their drinks and asks if they would like to order. The father orders his meal followed by the mother. The older of the two girls goes next which leaves the youngest and smallest of the family. When she asks for an adult sized meal the waitress asks how old the girl was. "I'm 24" the girl responds.

The above story is one of truth because it's my life. No matter where I go I get mistaken for being a kid because I'm short. That story has happened to me on more then one occasion that is just one of the many times. It's even worse at Casinos when I want to go gambling the few times I go.

Age is a very touchy subject which is why the Sims doesn't ask that.

Lol, it's just Sims. All we are asking for is if the stranger IN THE GAME is a Young Adult, Adult, or Elder. I don't see how this would affect any personal issues. Calm yo horses!

Yes! I would love this feature. Or, not even a question, right when you meet the sim, it will tell you what stage of life they are!

Lol that was me being calm ok I may of said stupid waitress when I typed my own story. The point is that the Sims only have a few lifestages so it's pointless to do so. Since YA all look younger then adults and Elders it's not that hard for me to tell which they are.

Issue here is how many days until next life stage they have left. ;)

For example, you don't want your Sim who just became a young adult to date somebody who is 5 days away from reaching Elder life stage.

Lol Pretoda! It is the sims, not RL, as I also would not in RL find the first person I see in the park and queue up a ton of interactions with them until we are in love and get married!

But your story did make me laugh.. It reminds me of my poor mother who, when I was in elementary school was yelled at by a teacher and told to get back in line! And constantly when swimming in the apartment's pool where we lived at was told to that we needed to have an adult with us to use the pool!:lol: My own son, now thinks it's so delightful that at 9 years old, he is taller then his Grammy!

Edit: to clarify, I am in no way making fun of you, I just enjoyed your story and it I fondly recall my mother's issues and small size.

I know I'm just playing the devils advocate. I really don't care if it's in the game I'm just coming up for a reason it might not be.

On an off topic I love that your son calls his grandmother Grammy. That is my own grandmothers name only spelled Grammie! :D

 What a noob! That's because you are marrying an adult. Don't you know that Young adults and adults are identical in appearance. Focus on Teenage sims and wait till they get older. That's the only way to guarantee a Young Adult.

Oh god, that is me as well. Every time I go to a restaurant, I am asked if I want a kids menu. Every. Time. ::sigh::
Also, one time I was at Toys R Us and they thought I was 12. They actually said to my dad, "how old is your daughter, 12?". I was 23 at the time. It probably didn't help that it was Toys R Us and I was with my dad, but still.

Anyway about the topic...I don't think it's needed. You can tell YA apart from Adults fairly easily. You can always use a Young Again potion as well.

Wow. Your rl stories are something!! I hate leaving home. I'm not short but I look young. Someone's always asking my 12 year old if I'm his sister and older women are always turning their noses up at me because they assume I'm some young girl with a bunch of kids! And I still get carded every where. I was a bartender once and when I was off I decided to try a few drinks. My own boss asked for my Id :?

I'm short too, and until I got fat and old and gray, no one thought I was old enough to walk into a bar either :p

As to the age question - think about what questions are queued up when your sim talks to another - where do you work, what's your sign, are you single .... how old are you should be in there too. A simple answer based on their last birthday ... I became a teen ager 10 days ago, or I'll have my next birthday and be an elder in 4 days, or I'm a teen ager and my next birthday is tomorrow. Something of that nature. It can be an option that appears after a certain relationship level, too - like once you are on friendly terms with a sim.

And then there's the propensity for the game to take a young adult that you marry in and turn them into an adult with 2 days left till elder the minute you get out of the new household screen. Like I said, it can bring an apocalypse challenge to a screeching halt -- at the very least, it forces you to murder the married in sim so you can find some sweet young thing to help bring in your children and continue your game.

    God Bless,
    mik

I have a problem with this sometimes when I want my teens to date. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish teens from YA for me and I work on trying to get them "cozy" til I find out that they're not teens too so I wasted time getting to know them.
