Darling Walsh and pronouns update

With that gender update (in fact pronouns update), and posible updates to premades, I bet than Darling is 90% candidate to have neutral pronouns
But after pronouns update is working well at all languages

This is why I am against the lore update. Until now Darling was kept vague enough for everyone to make them their own. They could be a tomboy girl, a transmale in the process of transitioning or a nonbinary sim that encompasses both their sides equally. But soon as Maxis gives Darling a pronoun, only one of those interpretations will be correct, with the others getting relegated to mere headcanons. Same with preferred activities, colors and music styles.

I've always thought of Darling as gender fluid, that they were questioning and exploring where they fit i the world.

This is a good point. Back when I still let all the pre-mades populate my saves, I had Darling in one save as a teen of uncertain gender or sexual preference, possibly asexual. In another save she was a female who liked other girls, though apparently shy about getting attached to anyone. In yet another, he was a trans male who liked both boys and girls. They each felt like equally valid versions in the context of each respective save. It would be a shame to make Darling's gender suddenly feel too rigidly defined too allow that kind of creative freedom for people who still play with such sims in their own games.
FYI: Just because you can see my signature, don't assume that I can see yours.
Because I can't; I keep all sigs turned off. ;)

How sad is it that I had to google Darling Walsh. 😬

I don’t feel like it would matter to me if they updated her somehow because we have the flexibility to change it. I play her as a tomboy girl who rebelled against how feminine her name was, and changing that to Darlene helped her feel more comfortable in her skin. She married a female and now works as a high-ranking officer in StrangerVille.

I think people will decide very differently depending on how they have played as those sims, I have always seen Darling Walsh as a tomboy, so I would not change her pronoun in this case.

There was an old thread a couple of years ago where people showed with screenshots what they had done with her. All different.

As someone who would prefer Darling Walsh to be a female, it would not at all bother me if the team did an update that changed her pronouns. If I was that bothered by it, I could go in and change it back. Bring on all lore updates! :p

In my San Myshuno game all the premades have pretty well-defined stories by now. (Darling Walsh is female and butch in my game.)

If I started a new save I'd probably go a different direction with some if not all the premades. I wouldn't play the same story the same way over and over, so I don't feel like the characters need to be the same every time.

I'm not really sure what to do with Darling, I've always just thought a female with tom boy vibes but I've seen on twitter that others gave Darling the pronouns they/them. It doesn't specify in the sims bio anything different other than a female so I'm thinking I might just stick with the default pronouns for now unless Maxis states that she should have something else.

I'm less upset if my headcanon is disrupted, since people can change their pronouns and identities as they grow up and learn about themselves. If they make Darling They/Them now, there's nothing stopping me from making her She/Her or He/Him once they're older.

I'm not up on all of the lingo, but once upon a time my Gen. 9 Heir tried to date Darling Walsh. I saw her as a Tomboy. A girl, really, who was working to get close to boys via playing their games, IE Basketball, Baseball, whatever sport they were into. (I have a RL friend who confessed to that while she was a Teen.) Didn't really get her a boyfriend, but it did forestall her puberty. :open_mouth: I did become aware she wasn't flirty. The relationship never went anywhere so my Heir moved on. I was just the birth of Gen. 10 away from completing the Challenge. He did end up taking a tumble under the sheets with a gal, who got preggars, but the first time he tried to propose, she slapped the ring right out of his hands! Talk about dramatic. LOL He finally did win her hand, the baby was born, a boy (yay) can't be the heir otherwise via my settings, via the Rules. Game over. Phew! That took me an entire year RL. But, yeah, Darling is an enigma.

Does it really matter? I mean you can just them to whatever you want them to be, we dont have to stick with the original storylines.
I always figured Darling was a tomboy and is either asexual or has a crush on both her roommates!

I think of Darling Walsh as a tomboy. She looks fairly similar to myself in my late teens. Females do not have to be super girly or conform to stereotype.

To me she's always been a butch. Out of lore she was obviously a demonstration of the "all clothes can be used on all genders" update that came with the City Living update for the base game just like the woman who always wear orange in the Fitness Stuff Pack trailers has almost only masculine clothes (but a more femme hairstyle etc).

Anyway, for me she's always been a butch, contrasting with Miko who is ultra-girly.
