Please, eat faster!

For years I've watched my Sims painfully lengthy cooking process - 1½ hour to make a salad, 45 minutes to eat it.
Toast and eggs - 1½ hour to make. It takes me 15 minutes max to make breakfast!

Please, for the love of all that's holy, speed up the cooking and eating process. Make it believable.

They sped up eating fairly recently (in the past 6 months?) and it was a bit controversial. People were saying they could barely have a family eat a meal together anymore. But they were eating ridiculously slowly before. They still eat slowly if they’re sad or something, is that relevant to your current issue?

I don’t think they need to speed eating up more, and I’m not really bothered by the time it takes to cook things. It seems like they start off very slow but they get faster with higher cooking skill unless it’s a complicated dish.

I don't really mind the cooking times because my sims rarely cook every meal. I usualy have them cook one or two large size dishes and then let them eat whatever they choose from the leftover options in the fridge. Not good when there are leftover cookies because they almost always choose the cookies. I do wish they could cook smaller portions though, like two or three servings instead of four or eight.

My sims fly through their meals. I have one couple that by the time the second one gets their serving the other is half way done.

Oh gosh!!! They already nerfed one of my favorite things. (Slow eating) now sims eat in 3 bites and I can't enjoy or plan out long family dinners. Please don't make them eat in one bite I beg you 😭😭😭😭
Zombies, oh please oh please give us zombies!! :'(

When they sped it up I was thinking I wanted it, until reality sank in. I'd rather it went back to the old speed. I know I could get a mod to fix it, I have too many now. I don't need any more mods for little things.

The bad part about fast eating is that now I have to literally fight them if they chose to eat something from the fridge instead of cook something new from scratch. By the time I find the right menu option they've already eaten whatever they got from the fridge. Even with leftovers, if you have several dishes in the fridge, you can't plan which one they will eat or bring one out and call everyone else to meal.

Sped it up? It still takes 30+ minutes to eat toast and eggs. No one eats that slowly IRL
I feel like 2 hours or more for a meal is excessive. My sims could be learning stuff instead of having such feels after every bite.

I've never checked how long it actually takes a sim to eat, in sim hours, because in my experience, sims sit and wolf down their meal in a few real life seconds. But they usually eat slower if they multitask while eating, talking, watching TV, I've had a sim put the half eaten plate in their inventory and go make coffee, drink coffee, and then finish their meal. When they cook a meal, I can't call to meal, because as soon as they are done cooking they grab their plate and if I want to call everyone else to meal, they grab another one.

I think the problem lies more within how quickly time moves in the Sims, and not as much how "long" it takes them to eat/finish a meal considering it only takes them a few bites to eat. If time moved slower, like even just half as slow as it currently does it probably wouldn't feel like it's taking as long since not as much in-game time would have passed.

This. Exactly. It drives me nuts how fast time goes in the game. I want the solution to the "it takes too much sim-time to do X" to be slowing time down so it fits better, rather than cut the animation down so much it's no longer meaningful. I hate how fast sims eat now. I ended up getting Bienchen's mod to slow them down again, and it's still so fast it's hard to get good screenshots with everyone sitting and eating together.

Though I never raised issue with the eating speed, I always thought that sims took way too dang long to eat. Particularly when I need them to get ready for work or school but they havent gotten past their first bite of food. Pretty often I just make them leave the table hungry simply because I got stuff they need to be doing instead of spending 3 hours just chewing. I think the speed they set it at now is perfect for my sims.

I would like it if time were slowed down slightly and we still had the longer meal times. Family meals are a thing of the past in my game.

I think the length of time it takes to cook should be based on the complexity of the meal. Salad would be faster than cupcakes, for example.

Meal time would go faster when eating alone. Family or group meals would take longer because of the social aspect - people talk when dining in groups.

Anyhoo, like most players, we all have different things we'd like to see in the Sims. We aren't all going to agree. LOL
