I totally forgot about the gnomes in Sims 3

I totally forgot about the gnomes in Sims 3, that was until I had the vampire gnome just appear one night in the kitchen. My sim is a Gardner (profession), while she is not a vampire, both her current boyfriend, and best friend are. So she is currently growing three Plasma Fruit plants in her garden. After playing Sims 4 I had forgotten how alive the Sims 3 gnomes are and the antics they do. Now my sim has a new goal to try to complete, and that is to attempt to have as many of the different types hanging around her home, and to see if she can get a family of gnomes. :)

You can make money out of Vampire Gnomes. Once you have at least one vampire gnome, you can get lots of vampire gnomes by buying teddy bears and placing them where the vampire gnome can find them. The gnome will convert the teddy bears to vampire gnomes and you can sell the newly created gnomes for more than it costs to buy the teddy bears.

It can be a bit scary the first time you see this happen and the baby is still in the cot.

This imaginary friend is doing its bit to try to protect the baby from the gnome. The teddy bear that was there has been turned into a vampire gnome by another vampire gnome.

I love that picture of the IF protecting the baby. Money is not an issue for this household. A while back my sim rolled a wish to purchase something worth $500, so she went a little further and spent $1000 on a slot machine. Right after that she put $5 in and won the $1000 back pretty quick. lol Best investment EVER.

Putting slot machines outside during the full moon can be entertaining if zombies happen to visit your lot. Very lucrative too.

I never knew the vampire gnome could clone itself! Very cool, and very lucrative indeed :open_mouth:

As for me, the coolest gnome memory I have is to do with Zenyatta, the horse gnome.

The few times I played with horses, these guys would spring up all over the lot like weeds. All you need is a horse and a salt lick, and after a little while, poof, you get a Zenyatta. And another. And another. I’m not even joking when I say that the horses’ adoration of the salt lick triggers a full-on invasion.

The other neat thing about this gnome is that it leaves veggies (mostly carrots and onions) around the lot, presumably meant for the horses. You can sell these for a bit of extra cash. Although, as you can imagine, it does get annoying, especially when your lot has fallen victim to the aforementioned Zenyatta invasion.

If you have a dog and you get it to bark at the fridge you will get a freezer bunny gnome. Problem is getting the dog to stop barking at the fridge. You will soon have an invasion of pink freezer bunny gnomes.

Other than the extra positive moodlets from clean clothes and bed sheets, I love the occasional laundry gnome your Sim can find in the washing/dryer machines. It's like a small paycheck for doing laundry. I don't know why it's a teddy bear, though.

There are also gnomes for the three destination worlds if you have WA. I don't know how you get those but the Chinese is dressed like a martial artist, the French a soldier, and I think the Egyptian one is a pharaoh? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I've found an evil gnome in my family inventory once. It might be because my entire Sim family has the evil trait or my criminal sim found it on the job since there were other things there too that I didn't put.

As freaky as gnomes can be considering they move when you're not looking and just randomly appear, they're pretty neat.

@MantleJackal - you remember the Snuggle Fabric Softener, they had a Spokesbear

Probably why they used a bear as the laundry gnome. 😁

Oh wow, that never crossed my mind. I barely see snuggle commercials nor do I use it so it's easy to forget.

This is a thread I started years ago in the Store General Discussion. It is full of information about gnomes. I got inspired to post it when I opened an old game to find 42 mysterious Mr Gnomes in my active household.
