I never really use this world as I dont like the retail part of the game but I think Im missing out with not using the world. It has alot of potential for themed lots!
For instance I recently downloaded 4 old warehouses from the Gallery and turned it into a trendy warehouse district in one save.
Currently making a university neighbourhood with Foxbury and Britechester dorms opposite each other ( for abit of competition!LOL), also a library and a bar with the university hang out trait.
Other options could be a fitness area with pool, gym, wellness centre, onson bath house.
A military complex! With barracks, rocketship launch site, labs and cafe/canteen.
A kids zone with park, school/library, maybe have a sim run an Orphanage.
Or how about a holiday camp? Have a couple of rentals (a hotel and an old fashion style chalet camp), an entertainment centre with arcades and games and maybe a restaurant/cafe.

Anybody have any other ideas??

The world is actually nice to live in. It's a shame it's so small. I placed a bakery with a small studio apartment above it for my Sim who owns it. She can't live there but she stays there when restock is high. I placed a small romantic park. There's another family style restaurant there. I've yet to figure out the 4th lot but it seems an art studio is going in. In another save I have it as a residential area for a large family of sims that want to live near each other. In one other save I have it with two "prep schools" for teenagers who are about to attend university. They're like apartments. I put in a park and cafe there as well.

I tend to forget about it but I do actually enjoy living in that world and visiting.

In my game, Magnolia Promenade is home to an upscale romantic dining experience (restaurant) and the #1 bowling alley and arcade (bar).

It also is home to 2 retail locations, one is a very large 2-story grocery store which sells all produce at perfect quality, as well as all of the cottage living food ingredients (milk, cheese, custard, mayo, etc.) also at perfect quality, and every recipe for cooking, gourmet cooking, baking and wedding cake baking pre-prepared by a Fresh Chef (so it never spoils). The other is a furniture store which sells every electrical, plumbing and appliance fully upgraded with handiness upgrades.
These retail locations aren't for my played sims to 'run a business' but rather so that my played sims who don't garden, cook, and/or do handiness can purchase these things.

Before I put the retail locations in, I had a large park and festival grounds and a residential lot in their place. Despite only having 4 lots, between the restaurant, bowling/alley arcade and festival grounds, my sims went there all the time.

I def need to use it more. Once you remove the horrible premade builds the actual world is very pretty and although its small the lots are grouped together in their own little area. With an added bonus that the lots go right up to the edge of the sidewalk so you dont get that dumb gap alot of the other worlds have!

I have a household in that world, too. It looked like a household was needed to change the NAPs from Eco Lifestyle.

I kept the premade lots as they were bought by some of my sims.

My Magnolia Promenade went through lots of revisions until a combination of Eco Lifestyle and Bust the Dust gave me the idea to make it a dirty, polluted, post-apocalyptic industrial nightmare. Most of the time, I prefer my worlds clean and pretty, but I also wanted one that's very much the opposite, and chose Magnolia Promenade for this theme because I find it lacks unique features to make it stand out in any other way. Well, now it does stand out for sure.

    magnoliapromenadey8j4q.png

    Description:
The times when real magnolias were growing in Magnolia Promenade have long passed. Ever since a mysterious natural calamity turned the town into a radioactive wasteland, every day has been a fight for survival. All its current residents either found the town looking for an adventure just like this, or have been stuck here since before the calamity.

As seen on the map, the only public lot is a landfill originally found in Evergreen Harbor, the other three lots belong to families:
    - the Fowlstens (a man and his robot wife who thrive in this dirty environment and were specifically designed with the Bust the Dust kit in mind, which I ended up not getting because of its many bugs),
    - the Grimfields (a family of three former morticians with very quirky personalities living in a bunker underneath a mausoleum),
    - and the Kailanis (mermaids desperately looking for clean water to mermaid in while running the pharmacy adjacent to their home).

Now more than ever, I wish this world was bigger so I could throw more struggling families and disgusting community lots into the mix. What's annoying is that, even though I'm using cheats and mods to keep it industrial all the time, it always reverts back to the neutral state after a while. So it's not perfect, but that is the story of my Magnolia Promenade.

Ooh, I like these ideas. Mine currently has an empty mini store ready for purchase, a fully stocked bakery, a bank (museum) with safes in for my rich sims to use (if I ever get any) and a multi-level office complex which I use for career meets.

My Magnolia Promenade is home to four family businesses. A bridal salon, diner, photography studio, and a bakery.

My current default for Magnolia Promenade is a kind of "date" center, with a movie theater (set as a bar, but I think I used the Barista bar rather than the normal one) a pub with a small stage (yes, another bar. It works, okay? ;) ) and then one high end restaurant and one "fast casual" type restaurant.

That way I'm likely to actually use it. :)

I have set up the area with small shops, places to eat and side businesses like massage parlour, cupcake factory, hair salon, photo studio. Upstairs are apartments for travelling sims to use.

Such a shame we dont have hotels (yet! ;) ). I think it would make a great site for a holiday camp. An old fashioned holiday camp with fun attractions would be a fantastic place to send my big families on vacation!

It's in the middle of a city, not much for a holiday camp unless you count as camping pitching up a tent on the front lawn of a business. :)

I have some alien homes from the gallery there. I like my neighborhoods to be themed more or less and it was always jarring to have Sixxam trees on a home in one of my normal neighborhoods.

I've usually gone with a New Orleans vibe and put restaurants, shops and other builds there to reflect that. If you played the first sims game think Old Town Quarter or Gothic Quarter. It's a good place to put a rental to play out a get-away there.
I'd love to put a B&B or motel there still hoping!

In my current save MP has a neighborhood bar and 3 residences in converted warehouses.

I used it as high-end loft apartments in one save. They are of the industrial variety, one of my favorite styles to build. B)

Similar to kerrigan, my magnolia promenade became alien/sixam themed (i'd love something that made it, esp the map, actually so) but it was a process that sort of accidentally happened

My 'main' household that tests pretty much every pack when i get it is a female alien (scientist), her human husband (astronaut) and 3 of their 4 kids. They owned the first retail shop there, that got edited over time and now mostly specializes in alien/sixam collectibles, scientist creations/potions and things that seem to fit with those, including the potions from maxing the mixologist aspiration as well as the elusive snagglefuster drink

When the dine out pack dropped a high end sixam-themed restaurant (with an all alien staff) was added, then a vet office that was a hovering ufo added with cats and dogs. The latter was eventually replaced by a sixam-themed museum that houses everything found on thr planet, all the space/alien collectibles and more

The last lot is a nightclub designed for sixam as well, which is the hangout of my interstellar smugglers club, where they show off and sell their merchandise collected from around the galaxy (when they're not just partying)

For one save so far, I found a large mall on the Gallery, and put that in the empty lot.
For my other saves, I haven't decided exactly what I want yet, but I plan to put a hotel in some, and maybe a bookstore,
I will most likely get what I want from the gallery.

Not done anything yet, but taking advantage of the steamboat at the pier and the occasional one that shows up sort of like Windenburg's 'Nessie' how about some sort of waterfront business/warehouse, saloon, boarding house, greasy spoon type restaurant? Idea is the place is a 'doghole' type river port. Style aimed for the mid to late 1800s.

I have Magnolia Promenade and Newcrest as the same community, Magnolia Promenade being on the outskirts of town. I have a boutique. A nightclub, some apartments and a graveyard there.

I added a sushi restaurant, a spa/gym, a art/ kitchen wares boutique, and campus housing.

My first Sims 4 Sim has an art gallery there. Beyond that I have entertainment hubs like a cinema arcade, a bowling alley bar, and a skating rink.

I rarely use it unless I specifically want to run a business. It's such a shame that sims can't live permanently above their retail lots. It's annoying having to own home lots as well, when it would clearly be cost-effective to live on the premises.

Totally agree, if I was allowed to wish for just one feature for a Get to Work pack refresh it would be to allow owned businesses also be a household's (only) place of residence.

I love LittleMsSams live-in business mod. Set the lot trait for the live-in business you want to run, and you get toggles on the door to open and close the business anytime you want. I have a live in-cafe and a live-in bar in my game and they work great. But yeah, that would be a great addition for an update.
