Three of my sims died by cowplant notification. I've had 5 sims die accidental deaths so far through neighborhood stories. I'm starting to think the cowplant death will be frequent in my game. I was also getting worried that most of the deaths were adult mothers but then my 5th death was a young adult father who has an infant child. So, Now my sim baby will have to grow up without his dad.

Woah! That sounds like a LOT of deaths. How many sim days is that spread over?

When I first enabled deaths. I had 2 sims die in one day. Then I had 1 sim die each day. I've had 6 sims die so far. There was a couple of days when nobody died but other things happened like career changes and buying pets. Today I had my second young adult male sim die by fire. He left behind 2 kids and a fiancee. He never got a chance to marry but was engaged.

It does sound like there are a lot of accidental deaths. How many cowplants are there in your game to cause so many deaths?

I have no actual cowplants in my game. I just got that cowplant death notification multiple times in a short time.

This is a fun way to dispose of your enemies. You no longer have to get close up to kill them. You can just mark them for death and no other life changes (if they live alone, or you don't care about their household).

You could even split them off from their household to target them alone :p

@aparkison lol I actually killed Bako Jang after he barged into my apartment several times just to prank the toilet and eat my leftovers. Not to mention he never cleaned up after himself. So I get it. His wife is lovely though and survived my fury that day 😅 rough housing was on in Myshuno apparently and Judith got into a brawl with my child after heckling her at karaoke... she had it coming.

@EmmaVane That's brilliant! I'm only after the one Sim, so I'll spare the other person in the household! :D

@wahini2024 That's too funny! I think this was because of how Sulani Sims are, but my Sim lives in Willow Creek. It was so irritating and it's the first time I've never even had the "Send Home" or "Ask to Leave" interaction show on a Sim, so I had no choice but to fight them! Now June is getting calls about her reputation being on a slippery slope. :s

For anyone trying out that idea @EmmaVane suggested, all I have to ask is that if you get a death message when checking from the mailbox, please share it here. Try to share what exactly appeared in the notification. Include a picture if possible.

I would be happy to see the list completed. :)

I'm trying to help, @EgonVM...I've now had about 10 sims get killed by the Neighborhood Stories, but so far other than the one I mentioned already they have all been duplicates of things already here.

FYI, death type isn't completely random but determined by a list of factors which you can find in simStoryChapter_AccidentalDeath.

That they have indeed said. After all, I have only gotten those death by freezing notifications on winter.

Could you share those factors under spoilers? It would be so interesting to know, but I don't know how to access those files.

    Thank you so much.

I think I'm going to try this again, this time keeping this in mind. I'll create special sims for it and have them be "marked for death" as @EmmaVane suggested.

Edit. I'm going to add this to the original post. Wouldn't want this awesome thing get buried in the discussion.

I had four sims die in one sim day. Seemed excessive.

This may be a silly question, but if you disable deaths for everyone does that mean no-one ever dies and everyone is immortal?
  • ElisetomElisetom Posts: 70 Member
@Lucy_Henley , I may be wrong, but I think that the toggle only disable the accidental deaths, meaning that if you have aging on, your sims will eventually die of old age.

Correct. Old age is separate from accidental deaths as accidental deaths are caused by many factors, but old age is caused by aging bar reaching full. That's why there are no special messages about death by old age.

    Ahhh, thanks for the information.

I haven't seen any death notifications yet. I wish there was a better way of seeing neighbourhood stories, particularly being able to see more at once. It'd be better if we could get a roundup every few days or every week, rather than having to repeatedly click on the mailbox for every single notification.
  • Lucy_HenleyLucy_Henley Posts: 3,014 Member
I’ve had some now, in one of my saves. Luna Villareal laughed to death, another random Sim (not a premade) got electrocuted… and Thorne Bailey lost a fight with a rabbit :D:D:D
  • EgonVMEgonVM Posts: 5,028 Member
So then. I found the second anger message.

Now it's time to turn everyone in my game into either a vampire or a spellcaster.

Only sunlight remains. We are so close!

Now then. It's time to increase vampire turning.

TwistedMexi made a mod to see them all at once, but they open in a separate, temporary notification panel and are gone once you close it (which means you have to take notes if you want the info available for later use). It does stop it filling up your regular notifications so fast though.

I have good news and bad news.
    Good news:
I finally got one of the death by sunlight messages!
    k0htj9oc1vnq.png

    Bad news;
There's another to find! Oh no... It took me so long to find one so it'll take me even longer to find another! I had my sim turn over 170 sims into vampires for this message. Seems like the turning isn't over yet...
    Help me if you could!
