Most DLC released for The Sims 4 is present in The Sims 3 one way or another. But there are certain features that I wish existed in The Sims 3:
CAS:
- The ability to combine any hat with any hair.
- The push-and-pull system to modify bodies and faces.
BUILD MODE:
- The ability to move objects up and down and scale up and down (can be done with a mod, but it's pretty clunky)
- The ability to change the height of individual rooms and create all sorts of split levels. The CFE cheat sorta allows this, but it's hard to use.
- The ability to freely place windows and doors and wall objects (strangely enough, the latter exist in Sims Medieval, which means TS3's engine is capable of such feature).
GAMEPLAY:
- Toddlers. I love how integrated they are in the game. In TS3, they feel like they're just there. They can't do much. Toddlers in 4 have waaaaay more interactions and things to do, and packs do a better job at integrating them (such as Seasons including a kiddie pool).
- The Calendar feature. I love that you can customize your own events and holidays.
- The Singing skill. I think it's pretty underrated. City Living did singing better than previous packs, and it's a pity they didn't add an active career for it. I love that you can sing a capella or with an instrument, including piano for the first time.
- The Group feature. Having the ability to do thing "together" makes outing a lot easier. It's better than having to click on every Sim and having to invite them to do something.
There are also some objects I would love to see in TS3 as well, such as the yoga mat (there's a mod, but it's not the same), the Don't-Wake-The-Llama game (which was also in TS2), the walk-in closets from Get Together, the vanity table from Vintage Glamour (there are vanity tables in TS3, but Sims don't see in front of it to put on makeup; I just love that interaction).
Overall, The Sims 3 has waaaaaaaaaaaay more interactive objects than TS4. I was struggling to come up with objects TS3 does NOT have. Even objects from TS1 managed to made their way to TS3, such as the mechanic bull and the canning station. Objects some people would assume are exclusive to TS4, such as the rock climbing wall and the ice cream maker, were actually released as premium Store objects. TS3 just have SO MUCH to do. No wonder most of us are still playing it on a regular basis.
Just had to pop in and give a loud AMEN to this @AnisEB97 :
I really did wish Sims 3 had a business type pack like the Sims 2's Open for Business. The Sims 3 Store stuff for retail is just not it at all, and the Sims 2 business system still reigns supreme to this day.
Yes it does!
I don't play 4 (because the loss of an open world killed it for me...) so I dunno what specifically I would like to see from it in The Sims 3. I guess from what I remember in the short time I did play it, the epic building tools, pulling sliders in CAS, and the search bar would be lovely to have in The Sims 3. Those are the things I feel The Sims 4 did very right. 👍
I agree with the person who say that we need the search bar in build/buy mode as sometimes I forget where a certain item is. Now I do sometimes create new collection folders in the game for the items that I download from ATS3 and then sometimes putting EA content that I use the must in them with the CC.
I don't have all of the packs for TS4 as I only have 2 EP's and 1 SP, so I can only think of the things that are either in those packs and the BG and maybe a few things from the ones that I did the free trials on.
I do like the roof tool that TS4 has compared to how we have it in TS3. I like being able to just use the pull and tug for the roof from TS4 to create the height and width of the roof and especially if the house or other buildings on the lot will have different roof heights.
I also like how the game allows you to create a story for your sims while in CAS and then putting them in a career when you start your gameplay based on the answers that you give from the questions that's asked during the process.
I also love the calendar that TS4 has as you can see where the in-game holidays fall depending on the length of each season. Plus being able to create your own holidays and setting up what activities to do with each one or cancelling the holidays altogether if you're a player who doesn't celebrate any holidays at all.
I may had only played Snowy Escape during the free trial but I also like the idea of having our sims to either remove their shoes upon entering into their house and either going barefoot or putting on slippers. When I had played that pack and had sent my sim to Mt. Komorebi for vacation, I had noticed the signs in the house that we could click on that allowed the player to choose if the sims kept their shoes on or take them off. Of course I wish there was skiing in TS3 as well as sledding and snowboarding down a hill. And yes I know that we have snowboarding in TS3 but it's only limited to the snowboarding ramp, so it would had been nice to snowboard down the designated hills in the game.
I also tried the Eco-Living pack as well when it was on the free trial last year and just thought that it was cute how our sims could do woohoo in a dumpster. I just love the cute way the sims looked at one another and how the sim inside of the dumpster would help the other sim into the dumpster. And speaking of the EL Pack, I also love the idea of candle making even though I didn't get a chance to try that during the free trial and being able to recycle items using the recycling machine.
I love the little kiddie pools from the TS4 Seasons pack. And yes, I know that Sandy over at ATS had converted the pools from TS4 to TS3 so that we could use them in this version of our Sims games which I have downloaded into my game. But I know that there are a lot of people who would prefer to go CC/Mod free in TS3.
I remember when I first played TS4 Base Game and had sent my Sim to the park and spotted the pirate ship jungle gym there, I had her go over when she saw some kids playing on it and had her play with them. Of course playing with them meant that she went to the front of the boat and played like she was a sea creature.
There's a few more things that I see over in TS4 that I wish that we have over in TS3 but I will post later as I have got to go for now...
I wish we had the new changes added to vampires in the Sims 3 with the exception of the different forms. I understand the whole disguise thing to blend in with normal sims, but I like having my supernatural sims look, well, supernatural. Everything else with the skills/perk trees and the researching to make your vampire stronger really reminds me of a rpg which I love. I use mods to change and add things to vampires so that they're a little closer to their Sims 4 counterparts but it's not the same.
Calendars, holidays (sorry, but the TS3 ones just feel like another day), toddlers, and CAS in general. It's glaringly obvious that TS3 was made in the late 00s/2010s, and the "curly hair" (if you can call it that) is just awful.
Like when playing TS3, 'Man I wish X was in this game too' do you have any?
*School projects for the kids. Those are grade boosters! *All the sims 4 meals we can cook(including baking/gourmet meals) *Actively going to work in the medical career on a normal schedule(seeing the inside of a hospital instead of doing a free clinic on a random lot) *Teaching Toddlers/Children/Teens character values. *I also wish all female clothing was maternity-enabled without the use of mods
I have more, but I can't remember them off the top of my head

I’ve often wondered why blowfish were in the Sims 3 if they weren’t going to do anything with them. Would be nice to have a “death by blowfish” meal in Sims 3 like in Sims 4. 🤣
Nope none of my family Sims will be eating fugu. Non-family sims on the other hand… 😈
Definitely Dine Out (I know we can already own restaurants in 3 but the restaurant system is very basic in comparison), and the packs which have more unique worlds like Snowy Escape and Jungle Adventure. A big jungle world or a snowy mountain range world in 3 would be so cool.
I'm a little late to the discussion, but for me I would like to see Cottage Living and maybe the mermaids from Island Living. I like the mermaids in sims 3 don't get me wrong, but I like how in sims 4 the mermaids could pass as human if need be instead of having visible scales on their legs.
but if i ignore that i feel like ambitions could have little bit of get to work in it
Besides the buggy retail system, there's nothing about GtW that's anything special compared to Ambitions.
I really did wish Sims 3 had a business type pack like the Sims 2's Open for Business. The Sims 3 Store stuff for retail is just not it at all, and the Sims 2 business system still reigns supreme to this day.
As for the Sims 4 expansions: none of them. They're either lesser versions of the Sims 3 ones or too scatterbrained when it comes to theme and gameplay content.
I do like the knitting stuff from the Nifty Knitting a lot though, definitely one thing I wish would be retroactively added. It's just a cute hobby for elders to have.
where there my friend you are wrong they did add active careers in different way like for example yes you can play as doctor in ts3 but you cannot go inside the hospital to work there so if we combined the outside of hospital work from ts3 with inside of hospital work from ts4 that would truly be splendid
but if i ignore that i feel like ambitions could have little bit of get to work in it

That's not a fair comparison since doctors weren't an active career in Sims 3. At least compare GTW Detective with Ambitions Investigator or something.

the point of this thread is what pack would you want to be in ts 3 it didnt say i had to delete similar pack from ts3 all I'm saying is ambitions + gtw would have been fun combination not that one is better than other or whatever
like what i suggest is wouldnt it have been splendid fun if we had both packs features in one game
then i answer person claiming theres nothing to add from gtw that there is things not in ts3 gtw addition would add like not comparing just saying they'd be better together
but if i ignore that i feel like ambitions could have little bit of get to work in it

I guess I don't understand your point unless you're saying you just wish there were more active careers? If so, fair enough. I was surprised that Ambitions took the doctor career and brought it out of the rabbit hole for outside clinics. However, there were five active careers in Ambitions; doctor just wasn't one of them. You could build the required buildings for the ones that, well, required buildings which were part of the neighborhood which is a far better system than poofing into your isolation chamber of a hospital/science lab/police station. I'm not really sure that GtW added much that Ambitions didn't. The retail system is one, and GtW had aliens instead of Ambition's plumbots. That said, there was so much added with Ambitions that comparing the two packs really does Ambitions a disservice.
Edit: Thinking about it, GtW and Ambitions active career jobs were on quite different systems. GtW has active goals to complete, often based on the emotions of the sim whereas Ambitions, while you have goals to meet, you don't have the checklist and instead have to figure things out which leads to bad outcomes more often.
She's not comparing Ambitions with GTW to imply one is better than the other. Just commenting on the doctor careers. All she's saying is that Ambitions allows the doctor to practice in the field while GTW allows you to work inside the hospital with your sim and a combination of the two would make an awesome pack.

@Simmingal -I agree with you in that I would have liked to see active careers like the Sims 4 “Go to Work” pack in place of inactive careers.
That would have just made Sims 3 amazingly overwhelming with so many things to do as well as having open careers all around such as an active teacher career and open schools. The Medical career should have been an open one from the get-go.
I like the vacation ideas in Sims 4. It would be nice if World of Adventures had more options related to relaxation. It would be cool to go to a tropical world too.
Like when playing TS3, 'Man I wish X was in this game too' do you have any?
Dream Home Decorator. I love the configurable couches and the fact that we can choose which side the ladder goes on for bunk/loft beds.
Edit: I also wish that sims 3 had the calendar system, character values(Parenthood) Retail shops(GTW), better toddlers, and the ability to travel between worlds without time pausing for your main world(if you're on vacation or away at college).

By DLC, I'm assuming that you mean expansion packs and game packs. The only two that I think would add anything significant to TS3 are Get Together, and Open for Business. Regarding Open for Business, I echo other comments in the thread that refer back to TS2 as the model for that, not TS4; but TS4 is at least better than TS3 for it.
I’ve never played The Sims 4 , but based on Let’s Plays I’ve watched I’d love the Cottage Living pack, the whole bonus traits from raising your kids as well and I think some of the skills you get in Eco Living or the premise of transforming an industrial area into greener one is interesting .
I'd say Snowy Escape, most sims 4 packs have a version for the sims 3 (one I prefer for the most part as well) but we don't really have any mountain type worlds, or snow world in the sims 3. In the past I've downloaded custom mountain worlds for TS3 because it's nice to have a change from all the suburban worlds, hot weather worlds ect..
Comments

Definitely wouldn’t be mad if they revised Sims 3 into Sims 5. 😁
All I would want is to start in neighbourhood view and pick the house each play.
