Wedding Venue Lot Type

I'm excited that we're getting a new Wedding Venue lot type! Do we have any information yet about this lot type? For example, do we know what the lot requirements are? Can Wedding Venues also be used as community lots like Parks, or will we need to change the lot type to Wedding Venue and then back to Park (or whatever) if we want it to be used for things other than weddings? Thanks! :)

I already have a "Generic" lot in Newcrest that I use for weddings. I will have to change its lot assignment when I buy the new GP. 🙂

My game is full of wedding places, but I'm unsure if there's even one where I want to change the lot type. Depends on the lot requirements and autonomy.

I have a venue in my world that is perfect for this new lot type! I can't wait to try it out.

I do wonder what the autonomy will be like on it, and whether wedding venues would come up as choices when throwing other types of parties. I'd like the option of creating an event center that could have the dance floor and buffet tables and be used for multiple types of occasions.

I wonder if you could make a wedding crasher club with "any wedding venue" as their meeting place.

Right now I also set all my wedding venues to generic and then change them to lounge for the wedding so I get a free bartender. Then change them back so my clubs that meet at "any lounge" don't choose that one. Having the separate lot type will at a minimum make it so that I don't have to do so much switching back and forth. But whether you'd have to switch it to use for other purposes, I haven't seen any details yet.

I'm hoping that the Wedding venue Lot type is associated with having NO random sims visit the lot and very minimal autonomous activities outside of what the events prompt, so that guests pay attention to the things that the player is controlling for the events, rather than "doing other stuff".

@Daephene, if you are open to using mods, LittleMsSams has a mod that lets you get bartenders (and DJ's, and many other service roles) on lots with lot types that do not normally get them. It is a fantastic mod, as it means you can put anything which requires a 'service sim' on any lot type and get the roles auto-filled. Even works to get vendors for all the various food (and other vendor) stands.

I agree on wanting no random sims, unless they allow the club type because that's something you would have to set up yourself and would be off by default. I could see every once in a while wanting some chaos for drama reasons, but I also want to be in control more often than not.

I group my saves into "zones" based on where I think these things would be located in real life (for example, sims can jump from Britechester to Henford on Bagley but have to vacation if they go anywhere else) and most of my zones have wedding venues, all downloaded from super talented creators. I'm really excited to either update these to proper wedding venue lots or wait and see if the original builders do so.

@Stormkeep Thanks for the tip! But for me the issue was more that the wedding venue had to be something other than generic or it wouldn't show up on the list of choices, so I chose the something else that would come with free staff. Also bartenders at lounges and bars switch shifts at specific times, which was a handy time for having the ceremony while the guests didn't have the bar as a distraction.
If the new wedding venue lot requires us to pay for vendors like in a real wedding, I probably will just do so because my sims can generally afford it. And the new commands will hopefully fix the guests buying drink during the ceremony thing.

All that said, though, I would really like to be able to put food stalls in parks and have them staffed, so the mod might be good for me after all.

 that is exactly why I started using the mod. I've found that I have many other uses for it since adding it, like putting a bar and cafe inside the retail grocery store in my game, but the reason I went out and found/downloaded it in the first place was so I could put vendors in my parks.

@Daephene I use this mod too and I can't recommend it enough. I got it mostly so my casino would have a bartender at every one of the 3 bars instead of just one, for realism sake. But I've found I use it on almost every community lot now. FYI it's called auto employees if you still want to check it out.

This is what I'm hoping for too. When I made a wedding venue and had to set it to a nightclub (only one that the build met the lot requirements) all the Sims wanted to do was to hang out in the bar and a lot of Sims who weren't invited showed up and chatted with the wedding guests. The uninvited Sims looked so out of place in their casual and party attire too.

I'm also hoping that the wedding venue lot type doesn't have any strange requirements that will be out of place. For example: a park requires a chess table.

I use parks mostly for wedding venues with a custom lot trait for wedding venue, but that also means dealing with random sims not at the wedding. I tried to use Natural Park for one, but for unknown reason that isn't allowed (stupid). I'm looking forward to the new venue type.

Now if I were running the game, all venue types would be possible to use for all types of events, leaving it up to the players what they want to do. But then if I ran the game, lot types would also be combinable through lot traits and service sims would show up on all community lots if there was something there for them to show up to.
Moreover, I advise that the cart button must be destroyed!

I tried to have a wedding at one of my venues -- I think it was a karaoke bar -- but the game wouldn't allow it, so I had to temporarily change the venue type to something else. I agree that weddings should be allowed wherever the Sims want. If they want to get married at a bowling alley or on a desert island, that should be up to them!

I use Myshuno Meadowns for most weddings, there's hardly anyone visiting.
As I always have 15 guests, the couple, the caterer, bartender and musician, that equals to 20 Sims already so there aren't any strangers showing up when I throw the wedding at a lounge or park.
Still, I always love getting more venue types.

The wedding pack was originally scheduled to be released 02/17/2022. I've been trying to preorder it for days. When can we actually order and download?

I believe game packs may not be available for preorder.
