What is the Better Way?

In order to fix something that went south in my game, is it better to roll back a save, or to do the recover save action?

Please, and thank you, in advance.

Rolling back a save seems to make more sense, but I have no idea how to do that. I've a few saves that could use that treatment, the old 'I didn't want that to happen' thing. Recover save action?

I do a Save As, each time I begin a gaming session and they are labeled with the surname and numbered. I will continue to make periodic saves throughout the gaming session, particularly when a Sim gets a raise in skill, or something else noteworthy. My original idea of rolling back was to go to the prior day's gaming session. But, then I thought, if I try a save recover what would happen? I made up my mind to see with the thought if it all went south on me, for instance, I could still go back to the prior gaming session. Oh, and to be on the safe side, before I did any of this I made a copy of the entire game folder. As it turned out, I clicked on recover save and I got a panel of the additional saves I had made during that gaming session. I chose one and it took me to just the right moment. So far, so good. :)
