Need Help! When I Really Bungle It, I REALLY Bungle It!

The Starlight Accolades simply won't work. I tried rolling back a save or two, still no dice. So, I thought what if I put my families into a new save? So, that's what I did. I uploaded each family unit and their lot, where needed. What I forgot is that their inventories are emptied when you save them to My Library! All seven of my Uni students had their Term Presentation Boards in their inventories. Excellent rating. Had I stopped to realize it, I would have let them give their presentations and then pull them out. Face/palm.

Now, they have the homework completed, as it was prior to this 'move'. I wasn't allowed to add them back to Wyvern Hall. Instead, I had to put them back into their parents' lots, reconnect their relationships to said parents and the one sibling left behind who is just a Teen. Done and done. The bright spot in all of this is all I needed was to use the debug university cheat to place them back in Wyvern Hall — they still had their scholarships intact. So, I didn't have to go back and once again repeat their first Term. Phew! But I can't seem to find replacement presentation boards anywhere. They even show themselves to have about four days left. Lost a day in the transfer, go figure. I realize that the calendar will generate the Starlight Accolades in the second week, same as it always does. But Erik has lost all of his potions, his ten guitars, his l stradivarius violin, and most importantly, his album package. Happily, I had just had him release the second one of three he had prepared. One per Term, to keep himself relevant. So far, his violin music also seems to be gone. oh, my aching head. Before he was able to license his music while at Britechester. This time nothing shows up, not even the license music option.

I'll just have to put him on full-speed ahead and have him rewrite stuff, I guess. Else, he won't be achieving any more Accolades.

I can never do anything half-baked. When I bungle it, I really, really bungle it.

If anyone has any suggestions, please sing out. I am nearly exhausted with all of this nonsense that I manage to put myself through. I think I deserve a Starlight Accolade myself, don't you?

Do you have any saves backupped on a cloud or USB device? Hopefully it didn't save after rolling back the save.

Some tips on how to win in the awards. The event is random so if I try to work towards a goal like that I pause aging until they do.

Thank you so much for the link. I've tried the Uni kiosks, it's a no-go. I even tried the bb.showhiddenobjects cheat to no avail. I'm afraid while I played waiting for a response to my pleas, I have bigger problems than a lack of the presentation boards. Erik's music is gone! All of it! Gone. From the packaged album he was set to release during their third and last Term, to the music he wrote. No royalites. He was using such for a slush fund so that if anyone needed more than their scholarships to pay for the term, they could just take it out of the household funds. Plus, whatever was left after graduation, he would gift to his three siblings. (I use SNB & Bills mods.) His own account is quite healthy. No more nominations, since he doesn't show any music. At. All. Face/palm. I'm devastated.

I am now trying to sort out a way to transfer stuff from the save gone bad to the new one I wish to set up. But, if I upload my family units, as I just did, they lose everything in their personal inventories. I tried to have them place their presentation boards, and Erik's tracts/CDs he made on the mix-master machine, or whatever it's called and to leave the single page of sheet music at his parents' home, but the moment they all returned to Uni, I got that happy little pop-up about the items that were returned to them. I was going to upload the parents' house to replace the one they are currently living in in the new save. Oi! I know I was able to leave degrees on the walls one time and upload the lot to find the stuff all right there. Perhaps before I have them return, I should upload their parents' house, only they aren't the active ones so I don't think that will work. I may have to go back to a save wherein Erik is just starting out. I seem to be stuck in this eternal, inferno, tape loop. I can only get him so far, when the Starlight Accolades break and when I attempt to roll back a save, they're still broken. I even did a game save folder refresh, since the repair game never worked, but things were righted after the refresh. (Maybe it's a combination of the two?) At any rate I'm at a loss as to how to proceed, but to start a new game save and have Erik rise to fame. One. More. Time. And simply sally forth from there.

If I wasn't so worn out, tired from all the festivities of this Season, I wouldn't be taking this so hard.

Thank you again for allowing me to rant and for the link! It's good to know if a Sim misplaces their presentation boards there is a way to get them back.

I don't have them backed up onto the Cloud, unless EA does that automatically. But I do have copies. Also, I do the Save As for each gaming session so I can roll back if needed, and lately it's been needed a great deal. But the Award Show just isn't happening. I get my Sim down there, the notice goes up that it's the Starlight Accolades, or one of the of the other notices that starts the show, but then Thorne Bailey, the mixologist and others just leave. No Host shows up at all. It's totally borked. With the aid of a no cool down mod between licensing, Erik was able to spam his violin songs. Piano and guitar your Sim writes lyrics. Lyrics seem to be a non-starter. I know the article cited states piano and guitar, so I may give it another shot with the mod I have installed. So, he wrote a bunch of violin songs and had won five Starlight Accolades that were nominated before he headed off to Uni, and one after he got to Uni, which was a first situation where he wasn't nominated. Six. He has six in all. I suppose I should be content, but I have played this same Sim for the last few years without him EVER winning for his music. It was only very recently that another player told me about the mod and essentially gave me the 'secret' of how to win for music.

I am just trying to play out Erik's life. I picture him on the stage performing as an Elder, but Fate won't allow it. The Accolade Show breaks way too often. I'm going to have to go back to square one. New save and start all over yet again. I would try to transport him via My Library, but that empties their personal inventories, which is where all of Erik's music went. Now he doesn't get royalties. It wearies me, because I have had nothing but trouble since last March. As soon as I get closer to him having children and such, EA graces us with yet another mod-buster Patch and I have to put things on hold until the mods I use and need (such as MCCC, which is usually ready almost right away) and Road to Fame, which allows him to have a singing career, in the first place, are updated.

I'm sorry to grouse so much. I love this game, but I'm vexed by it at the same time. A non-compatible set of emotions, for a certainty. Thank you for your help, it's greatly appreciated. I spent most of my gaming session yesterday just trying to sort things out only to learn the presentation boards weren't my only problem. Face/palm.

I wish I could help you. I'm too new to playing The Sims to know all the tricks of the trade. And I own Get Famous, but I haven't done much with it yet. I've never had a Sim attempt a career in entertainment, and I've never had one attend the Starlight Accolades...mainly because you're not the first person I've run across who has had problems with them.

It might be small consolation, but I admire the tenacity with which you pursue Erik's story. It's obviously something you enjoy tremendously, or you wouldn't bother working through the issues you encounter so you can continue to enjoy your Simworld. My daughter and I have only begun a Sim-story which we enjoy, and I can't imagine myself being as determined to save mine as you've been with yours.

Your description of your efforts to rescue Erik's career did have one unintended benefit, however.

Z and I have been wanting to put some of our Young Adult supporting characters into the Universities. We figure our lead actor would know a lot of students, especially at Britechester, where his father is Vice Chancellor. Many of the NPCs the game places in the dorms are strange characters, and while having a few quirky Sims around is fun, a whole campus full of overly accessorized Sims with unbelievably poor fashion sense is just weird. Z likes giving makeovers to Townies, but she doesn't want to spend lots of time on a student only to have them graduate and be replaced by another random student who also needs a makeover.

Your mention of the Debug University cheat might be just the shortcut we need, so we can populate the dorms with our own characters! So, while it's surely not a solution to your problem, please know that your description of your troubles might have helped us enjoy our game even more. On behalf of my daughter, and as she would say it, "Thank you SO SO MUCH!"

I'm always sorry to hear that the game gives you so many problems. Are you sure the awards are completely broken? How many weeks did they work? I know each week is precious for Erik, but maybe try to play another month/season in game in that broken save and see if they come back just to try to sort out what the issue could be.

I still try to figure out why you have so much troubles with the gala.

As so far , people not seating right has been my own only problem, and @83bienchen has a mod for that. Besides that , I only use the longer Gala one by @gettps , and my galas are always functioning as they should, never mind do I edit the lot or change it to another lounge all together.

@MoonlightGraham I'm really very touched by your remarks. Tell Z she's very welcome. I do hope my problems help others in the long run. I just pray I can stop coming away being so vexed after a gaming session. I play this silly game to relax and have fun!

@haneul I supposed I could bounce back and forth between the two saves, but I found my Cantrell family, with their skills intact in My Library. Erik was just a Rising Star. Apparently, he's released three albums at this stage and has four songs written that he receives royalties for. Things are going well for the Teen. I may get wild and crazy and turn aging off so I can extend his Teen years a bit. He just made Global Superstar and the third song he wrote received a nomination. I have to psyche myself up to take Sims through Uni.

@Ellupelluellu Yes, the seating is an endless game of musical chairs, quite frankly. But I would rather have that to contend with than for no host to show up, or if one does, they hog the microphone telling jokes or whatever they're talking about and handing out trophies is more like an afterthought.
