Scaling Frenzy

I really like that we can change the size of objects.
I do it here and there, mostly with plants, but recently I went on a scaling frenzy.

It started with scaling down my Sim's degree, career award, and graduation picture to make them fit on the wall.
And then I started scaling other objects because they are just too large and look better with a smaller size.12-20-21_6-28-20_PM.png?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds

The upper left coffee decanter collection is the original size.
The reduced size seems the proper size to me and looks better. The collection on the right is also reduced.

Having done that I did the same to the other objects on that red wall.

Those knives look the proper size for a sim's hand now.
And then I just went through the house reducing objects.

The doll house, of course.

Textures get a little improvement at a smaller size.

This wall light was huge.
And those star awards on the shelf are huge. They could only fit on the top shelf.

Now they can fit on any shelf.

And of course my favorite, scaling plants.
These were originally 2x2, now a nice 1x1.

I love tiny dogwood trees.

But it's cool to go the other way.

I also like to scale stuff, sometimes to make them fit better to a certain space, other times just because I think they would look better. I play on a laptop, so tiny stuff looks tiny and I usually scale it up.

Scaling is a very cool feature and one I use often.

You're right, there are plenty of things that look way too big in comparison to sims. I find myself scaling a lot of decor objects and wall lights. And I like to scale trees so they're not all the same size, some smaller and some bigger.

I wish there were more sizes. Eg. If I was scaling down an item, there would be a smaller reduction with each key press than there is currently so we could have more size options.

Back when this feature was introduced someone on this forum posted a picture or two about a rocket ship he was building in an apartment (I think it was an apartment).

I found the thread! It's from December 2018. He posted a screenshot about halfway down the page too.

If it weren't for scaling, MOO and the up and down, I don't think I could do as good of a job decorating without those three.

I love making rugs fit, also I have found with those three, I can fill almost anything up with plants and clutter.

A funny thing, my sister up scaled a toy horse for decor but laughed with a toddler started playing with the huge horse. :D I forgot that to the sims, the item is its original size no matter how big or small you've made it.
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.

Scaling is probably one of my favorite features of build mode. I mostly use it on outdoor plants but sometimes decor objects. I rarely scale up though, most just down because, like you said, a lot of items are too big.
