What happened to gameplay kits?

Am I the Only one who likes Bust the Dust? :open_mouth: I even have one of my Uni students pack a vacuum with him to help keep the Dorm clean. Who, me? A NeatNik? You have got to be kidding.
I like the idea of the kit. I would buy Busted Dust if it was buying a hoover that triggered the dust rather than EVERY house getting dusty. 😭

As I play rotational, then all my Sims would be hoovering! No idea how it works when you aren’t playing a house.

You need things from laundry day to trigger laundry so I don’t know why they changed that. Also no broom, functional dustpan and brush in the line up! 🤷🏼‍♂️🤔.

It’s difficult enough when trying to make a 1930s save with only having mobile phones! 🤦🏼‍♂️

Now alternating between Sims 2,3 and 4! 😊☕️🌞

Nope I love it. Never understood all the complaining about it. And it's always worked fine for me. Now dust builds too slow since they nerfed it but I just learn to live with it.
    Always nerfing! *rolls eyes*

I like the pack, with the exclusion of the constant air sniffing. I had to mod that out it got so darn annoying.

@ncisGibbs02 I play on rotation too, so if I don't want a household getting dusty I just turn it off while I'm playing them 😉

Yes you can turn it off 😂 but then why buy the kit? 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️.

I just don’t see the point in spending £5 for something I’ll turn off.

I love the kit, too, but I don't always want dust in my house, so I'm glad I can turn it off. As for bugs, I haven't had any issues at all with Bust the Dust. In any case, I'd really prefer more game play kits, or at least useful build-buy kits. (I hate clutter with a passion.)
I just want things to match. :'(

Hmm... I have different aims with different saves.

I played a side-save with a single sim career-military dude and he had bust the dust, the single-and-loving-it-sentiment and were off climbing mountains every chance he got. In my main save I rotate between too many households, I want to focus more on the stories and have disabled the dust.

That said. I wish it was activated by having a broom or vacuum on the lot rather than just across the whole save. Just like laundry, that was great.

This is what I would want as well. Buying the hoover starts the dust etc. 😎

It's pretty much the only kit that I've ever cared about. It needs mods to fix the issues with it but that's not anything unusual in the Sims 4. I enjoy it a lot and most of my sims take part in vacuuming now.

I think the idea of a Gameplay Kit is a great idea, and I hope they do another. But I think Bust the Dust was mostly a Bust.
It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.

Okay first I'm sorry I haven't Bin online much for this thread :#
in hospital right now. had a break from simming, as Bin playing this game since 2014. need a break now and then. hooked again thanks to the last few packs like cottage, home decorator <3 and bust the dust B)

bust the dust is my fav kit along side the country kitchen B)

I don't recommend bust the dust for every household and recommend turning it off when you don't want it, I wish we had house phones and turn off cellphones myself :'( and newspapers back.

we have had many great gameplay premium content for the sims 3 and hope we get more kits like them for the sims 4 like some of you,

    baby change with baby monitor
    bouncer
    baby playpens
    strollers
    kid bikes
    spiral staircase
    toddler toy car

    ballet skill
    sewing machine
    pottery's
    bingo
    canes
    more magic items

    so many possibilities

OR have a full-fledged game pack

don't know if you have noticed but big packs seem to be coming less and less. kits and the wonderful base game and pack updates seem to be taking over.
no fall expansion as to be a first :'(

yes can't wait for another big pack to

Personally I lost interest in buying gameplay kits due to extreme disappointment with Bust the Dust.

I prefer CAS and B/B items to gameplay. Leave that for the packs and eps.

disagrees, not really fair for simmers who do like gameplay to miss out, especially with us getting less big packs.

My guess is that they predicted that with their limited budget and resources gameplay kits would turn out like bust the dust. So they decided to stick to CAS and BB which doesn't require gameplay designers and not as much QA testing.

we only had that one, the next one could be something we want

I think it's too early to say that gameplay kits are a flop. We have only had one. There are so many directions they could go for. I'm still hopeful we'll see a gameplay kit that turns out to be worth it. But overall I'm just really loooking for new gameplay, in any package size. This year was really bad in terms of gameplay, because even the GP we got didn't have much of it.

me to. the sims 3 premium content had some great examples of great game play items like kits

Absolutely not! I really enjoy having another chore for my sims to do. I’ve also had very minimal issues with the pack. Even the robot vacuums work great when I want the dust but not the work for larger homes lol.

I like Bust The Dust. I love chores in game because I love realistic gameplay and extra stuff to manage for my sims.

I don't like certain aspects of it though. I don't like dust bunnies. I HATE the excessive idles every time my sims change floors. I don't like the excessive positive moodlets. I don't like the excessive autonomy for vacuuming. I use mods to tweak the aspects I don't like, and now I'm pretty happy with the kit.

Wasn't the gameplay kit they released buggy? Guess they've realised that if they just release items people will still buy it and there's no complex coding work to do 🤷‍♂️ Dream Home Decorator gets praised as one of the best game pack even though the gameplay doesn't work because the furniture is nice...

So much this game could offer with gameplay kits B)
I think it’s because Busted Dust was so bugged

It’s a shame as the idea of household chores is good. I think I would’ve got that kit if it was buying a hoover that triggered the dust. Rather than every house getting dust.
    Also…. Including a broom! 🧹🧹🧹

    Maybe
I am hoping there just taking more time before giving us another
never had any bugs with bust. turn it off when not wanting to use it.. even when dust bunnies appear around the house I use it once and they go from every room. I Do wish got a brush to. I think we got an old fashioned hoover tho

it reminded me so much of premium content items you could buy in the sims 3 store. only cheaper with 3 different style hoovers and 2 handheld ones with 4.

if they gave us strollers or kids bikes or spiral stairs I would buy them
    drum set
    roller-coaster
    casino item
    baby changer

Personally, I'm 1000% fine with only CAS/BB kits and less gameplay ones.

The problem with the nature of Sims 4 is that bug testing/QA is probably ridiculously overloaded/overworked (with so many different packs that not all players have and with how coding can intertwine; it's hard to cover everything) as it is. And when the kit gameplay itself takes more care/work to get fine tooth-combed for bugs; it's suddenly not worth the investment of the price vs CAS/BB where it's less likely to break code. Especially for a game that is chronically buggy to the brim.

    Edit: added some clarifications
