Scenerios- Yes or No?

Do you like the scenerios update we're getting? Yes/No? Explain why but please be respectful of each other!
I kinda am interested in seeing how it applies to my gameplay. I'm curious. So I'm willing to give it benefit of the doubt. (Also the forum was a pain and wasn't letting me make a proper poll).

Nope. Seems like a waste of time since we have other challenges that are quite entertaining and those clutter up the notifications enough as it is. And all one has to do is look around for challenges that have been created by modders to find something new to do if one is bored. The best part of those challenges is the fact we have the OPTION to add them or not add them, to our game. What happened to freedom of choice in Sims4? I really dislike being forced to accept something I don't want when it adds nothing to my game.

I'm not really bothered by it. So long as it doesn't completely change the game from what it currently is. I probably won't use this feature. I'm happy with being able to do my own thing, but if a scenario that sounds interesting comes up, I might try it. I don't like the idea of some of them being available for only a limited time though. I don't have the time to play the Sims that I used to and it's likely I'll miss out on the one scenario I actually want to try. I missed the Plant Sim challenge back when that was going on, didn't know about it till years later when I had the time to play Sims again.

There are dozens and dozens of community challenges. They're much more complex and i can start them whenever i feel like.

I can understand why they are making them, there are a lot of players who don't know or play with challenges. But as a sims player who has played since sims 3 with challengers ( and I always start out with 0 simoleos each save ) I feel like the time they have spent creating this could have been spent on something else. I'ts not a big new feature, it has been done by simmers for years and years already

Yes. It's not something I would have chosen but I'm willing to give it a try. I've never played a challenge because it seems quite tedious to keep track of generations, and baby daddies, and babies born, etc. But with the game tracking progress it might be fun.

No from me, no matter how impressive or well done they might possibly (with a big focus on "possibly") be. Sims 4 is just a big sandbox of playing as I want. I have no need for the game to tell me what my goal is.

As I rely on my own imagination far more than game mechanics (I prefer my own homegrown version of sandbox/story-making play), scenarios hold no interest at all for me. At least not from what we've learned of them so far. I know people say that they can be a good way to break out of one's routine, and that could be true. But I happen to like my routine, and I have no desire or intention to break out of it.

    Edited for spelling.

While I can't see myself using this feature, it would be rather pointless ditching it as I don't really know much about it yet. I don't need it to enjoy my game, and I would not find time to play a Scenario on top of everything that I already can not find the time to play. But that said, I'm sure some simmers will find it useful somehow :)

I might use the feature occasionally, especially if one of the scenarios turns out to be something I'd never considered doing, but usually I play because I have a specific idea in mind.

I think as they currently stand (from what we know of the Making Money scenario) they will be useful for console players as using money cheats, even to remove funds, voids Achievements for the save.

For the rest of us it serves as an initial time saver, defined end goal and a visual reminder of what we are striving for with Rags to Riches style gameplay. It does give an easier start option too, if you choose a starter home. With the end goal being 1 million Simoleans, even that doesn't make it too easy.

I'm more interested in seeing how the Finding Love After a Breakup scenario plays out. For instance:
    • Do we create a couple in CAS and they get split up when starting the scenario?
    • Does the game generate a random ex for our sim? If so, is gender preference taken into account?
    • Does the game generate the appropriate relationship between the sims along with breakup moodlets/Sentiments or negative romantic traits such as Jealous or Unflirty etc?
    • Are kids involved at all? Is this optional?

I'm also curious what other challenges can be integrated this way and how deep they could be coded. Some ideas include:
    • History based challenges such as the Pre-History or Decades challenge have restrictions placed on careers and build assets like electronics etc.
    • Generational/Settler/Apocalypse challenges like Decades challenge where restrictions change/ease up each generation/on completion of requisites with regards to careers, items, gender roles etc.
    • Class systems/social hierarchy/occult covens or clans where trying to socialise with sims "above your station" or outside of your social sphere could be restricted in a similar way to trying to befriend celebrities and marriage between differing classes can effect status/reputation etc.
    • Any challenge that uses complex scoring such as ISBI where you gain or lose points for various achievements or failures etc. Having scoring auto-tracked in game would fab and cheat proof.

In summary I see a lot of potential for built in challenge restrictions and (hopefully) scoring systems, that make life easier for players and challenge creators alike.

No, so far. Scenarios doesn't really add anything new for people that have played the game for a long time with challenges. And as far as I have seen once you start a scenario it's the same game as before...

It doesn't feel like there was much development going into it either. Right now it just looks like a larger aspiration goal in the upper left. Will there be sub goals? Will the game encourage you to do different things?

I think more development time should have been spent giving us the player the options to create our own scenarios and set sub goals, set rules that have to be followed when playing, rules like "you can't have a job" etc.

What makes challenges fun to watch when other people are playing are also often because the person that's playing is making it interesting, the challenges themselves are very basic, like the 100 baby challenge, you have to make it interesting by changing things around, scenarios doesn't change that as far as I can see.

I think scenarios may be interesting, if they implement more darker ideas based on other challenges people are doing like black widow or gold digger. For now I’m really interested in finding love after break up. Rags to riches scenario is also nice because right now to have 0 at the starts of the game I need to use cheats or use two sims and then move out the one I want to play. It’s a little pain so I’m happy this scenario is coming.
Well rounded doesn’t sound too interesting to me as in my opinion all sims are too well rounded right now lol and I need to try really hard to shake their lives so I’m not bored to death. I hope more scenarios will include some dramatic events that turn around sims existence like suddenly they loose a job and have depressed moodlet for very long time or family disowning them and they develop trust issues.

I wasn’t watching the stream so I’m not sure if the scenarios will be possible for already existing saves, but I surely hope this will be the case even if not now then in the future.

Nope. We already have tedious tasks in Aspirations. Those are scenarios in a way, too aren't they? Jimmy is working as whatever, get them to do this, that, level up, do this or that etc. Repeated gameplay in my opinion. Already have that sort of 'challenge'.

I think scenarios would be fun. I find it interesting that there can be different outcomes with some being hidden. I hope there is a lot more to it than people think. And I'm interested to see the other type of scenarios that are coming as the first ones are just challenge scenarios. I'm not really interested in the making money scenario. But I am interested in the finding love after breakup one. Would be cool if scenarios would pop up when something happens. Like if a sim breaks off a relationship then the game could ask if you want to start the finding love after break up scenario.

I also think a lot of people would be more interested if scenarios would come with chance cards and maybe make different aspects of the game more challenging.

From the transcript of the stream (Sims Community) it sounds like limited content delivered in Sims Delivery Express will eventually be available when patching the the game if you miss it.

If this is true, and limited time Scenarios will be added this way (which they could be once the framework is in place), then it's possible you would receive them when you patch the game after the event.

Yeah, sure! They could be fun. I'll probably end up ignoring them but I'm willing to give them a chance.

No. I don’t see any new gameplay here. They should have spent the time adding more aspirations, traits, whims and preferences. Or just any of those. Way less people would be complaining right now.

For me, the reason I like Sims 4 so much is that I can use it like a box of toys or a set of tools for creating and developing my own stories any way I want. I don't really have any interest in a feature like pre-made scenarios.

But as long as it is completely optional, I don't mind it being added for other people to use.

I think it's nice that they're adding challenge stories to the game. It'd be awesome to see something like the decades challenge or a generations type challenge. It'll be interesting to see what they add. I don't care for the 2 they are adding and probably won't plays those.

I'm happy to have game guidelines for scenarios. Why? Two reasons
    1. When I try on my own I can get stuck or forget the rules
    2. Sometimes I don't know what I want to do with a current family/save (I play rotational) so this is helpful.

While I'm generally not interested in the two that are releasing soon, I'm not brushing them off completely. I might take a look at a future scenario if it looks interesting to me, but they don't really look like they do much except give you a starting point and a goal. I hope there's more to them than that so I need a little more info before I finalize my opinion.
