Creating A Brand New Game Save Today «12...Next Go

I've rolled back too many times, and unfortunately, the latest one caused a huge disconnect in my Sims' family tree. Erik is the son of his father, but not of his mother. I got him connected to the siblings that are connected to their mother, but he's still connected to his dad. If I go to his Dad's lot and take the family, husband, wife, teen son and pull them into cas.fulleditmode to fix their relationships, it leaves Erik listed as his father's Step-son. While this is minor, it bugs. Also, I desire to restart his career(s) from scratch. Seems, (after reading a how-to guide for GF) there is a way for him to be recognized for his music. I need to start all over, to effectively put this new-to-me information into action.

Also, I'm quite tired of his only sister looking so glum whenever she stops by. The Sim is seriously depressed or something. She has no Trait to make her so. Something is wrong. Perhaps, it's the messed up family tree that has her down? I know in RL my own genealogical pursuits can get to me. Why should an obvious mistake in the family tree not bother our Sims?

I intend to take the remainder of this day and concentrate on creating the Template Save for this new game. I will take my time placing the desired venues and get things ready, since this is time-consuming. I'll place the current saves folder aside, just in case.

I hate when I get consumed by the need to start over and fresh like this. But, it is what it is. I advise other players to do what makes them happy. I guess it's high time I take my own advice, no?

I won't bore all of you with yet another round of Erik Cantrell's escapades, but I may post a last picture from time to time.

Thank you! I did a game repair, just in case. I may go ahead and do a game folder refresh, keeping that newly started Template aside. Who knows? I've got a good computer so it's either me, or a demon pecking away at my mood. I'd sprinkle Holy Water on it, but water and electronics don't do so well together.

I understand that moment I've had many families I enjoyed and really some that I cared about but my most special families were lost my road with sims 4 has been questionable mostly in internet and many weren't saved to the gallery or if they made it up there it isn't all of them. These are the families that were the most buggy for reasons I couldn't always figure out even when I started playing more sims in the background to test things I wouldn't be able to recreate their issues so it was probably always one sim or an item who knows. There was one family that I had vampires in and eventually I saved them and let their human family be lost which removed all their issues but it's still sort of sad nice to have memories though. If restarting fresh and clean works for you by that point it's always for the best but you know whatever you'd like to share I'll be looking forward to it.

I've had this problem before and I ended up creating a new world save. What you could probably do is copy the whole family to your library, delete the original family through MCCC and replace them with the copy from the library. They should have kept any skills and jobs they had.

I'm hoping the gallery gives me my favorite families back - I'm missing so many uploads! And I wanna play some of those families, but I can't find their saves, or they just aren't registering. So I am throwing all the good juju your way, in hopes that this one stays good!

Huh. Come to think of it, I saved my families and I'll be darned if I could find them over the weekend, either. I'm starting all over again, as my Sims' family tree is completely borked, Brianna is totally depressed (and I don't know why). I need to discipline myself to rotate households, as originally planned. I'm certain Erik will survive, if the family freezes, essentially, when not the active lot. This is where I miss Sims2. But, I have also learned through reading a guide on Get Famous, there is a real possibility he could be recognized for his Music at the Accolades. So, enough of the acting which is wholly redundant from show to show to show. Oofda!

I'm sorry you couldn't find your Sims.

Yeah, I thought I had done that, but somehow the Del Sol Valley in what I thought was the brand new save, had the venues I placed still where I'd placed them. Face/palm. Something was very wrong. And, yes, with the exception of the save I was just playing prior to this decision, all saves will be vanquished.

And my active Sim had his skills, his written songs, his released album count and his latest gig intact. I'm just going to start all over in a fresh save, instead of taking them from their Uni graduation that way I did last time. Obviously, the save itself is borked.

Thank you @RedDestiny92 That's so nice to hear. I just hope the story doesn't get old. But, then again, it never proceeds the same way twice. Who knows maybe Erik will get that Best New Artist Award.

@GalacticGal oh you're welcome, I do so love to share. I'm certainly rooting for him but hard to say with the sims I've played so long and seen the good in bad in them all and eventually you start repeating your favorites. Though I think that makes them better you can always try something different or figure if you did something to avoid for next time. It also shows how attached we all get, ha I'm sure most of us get needy when looking to share our stories, it's just a game the ideas we come up with make it more to us.

Best of luck to you! I notice the folks who have the most bugs and glitches are the ones who use mods, but I also notice a lot of folks can't live without them because the vanilla game falls short on so many things a lot of simmers consider essential...the devil's choice, really.

Well, a brief update, if you will. I started them in the Spring, instead of Summer, this go-around. So, that means Erik is juggling from the get-go. He has school (and his father is a Mentor Teacher, so you know there's a bit of pressure to succeed). Erik and his siblings do homework immediately when they get home from school, Extra-Credit, too, if they can. The game starts us on a Sunday. The Karaoke Contest begins on Sunday. Erik enticed his family to travel from Del Sol Valley where they live to NewCrest. Erik buys his group a round of Cream Soda, turns on his drone (which for some very odd reason disappeared on me) participated in the contest, earned a 74/100 score — and WON. Before that, he wrote a song on his guitar, licensed it. He set up a Simstagram Account and a SimTok Account, recorded himself Street Dancing, so that by the time he won the Karaoke, he earned his very first star. I'm now five days into this game, and he's a B-Lister. Putting out his own album helped greatly, I'm sure. He's also making music on that machine thingie and releasing them into the cloud asap. I have to quit for the day. Sadly, his first invitation to sing before a live audience fell at 3 AM-ish. So, I sent him to the rabbit hole. No use in having the entire family lose more sleep. Erik left school early one day when he got invited to a photoshoot so that he could don the cover of the next month's edition. Another day, he took a vacation day to hold his Meet & Greet. He got the Gold and now has a trophy of his very own. I love this Sim to pieces, he never fails to make me smile. He's met Astrid, but so far Sandi and Kayleigh are no-shows. It will be interesting to see how Erik reacts when he finally meets up with Kayleigh. These two have chemistry, after all. I stuck Astrid with the High Maintenance Trait. LOL Am I bad, or what?

My celeb in my main save makes her songs too, she is naturally never nominated for them, but I still sent her to gala , and so far she has won the award 6 times cause of her songs (guitar and piano) .

Plus those tight pants awards, and once she won because she was a "cool character"

Been some time tho when last played that save.

I really feel your pain about having to start over from scratch. This happened to me with my Sims 2 Ultimate Collection about 3 years ago when the battery of the laptop I was on at the time died. My game erased itself from my laptop and then the battery died about a week later. I was gutted because I had a good save going on at the time (I think even my Harry Potter save I had going got lost). Lost everything because I couldn't find a flash drive to back up my game. I went out and bought a 3 pack of flash drives to prevent this from happening again.

I hope that you won't need to begin again after this unless you actually want a refresh. I admire how you're able to adapt and restart. I've had my save for a few years. If it became corrupt, I think I'd be so mad, I might quit the whole game for good... There's no way I'd restart the same save.

Anyway, I hope Erik wins an accolade for his music this time. Most of my sims' accolades have been for music or books.

A couple of years ago, I was playing a legacy family and I had gotten to 4 generations. I was really invested in the family, but the save file had so many bugs I had to let it go. It was really hard giving it all up, but in the end, starting fresh made me happier.

I do hope you'll share your adventures with Erik again. I love reading his stories, and I especially love your enthusiasm for your characters!

As well as guitar level 10 and he knows how to remix. He does have the Musical Genius aspiration and he's got the Self-Assurance Trait. Guess he can't have the Ambitious Trait until he's older. I hope that doesn't mean he has to be in Uni before he wins. There's simply little to no time to go to the Accolades while in Uni. Not if he's going to graduate top in his Class, that is. Yeah, he's my dream of perfection, but as we all see he's not perfect. LOL

Thank you for your support. I'm so sorry that happened to you. But I thank you so much for sharing. I think Erik won't even go the Actor route, this time. I tried once before but was very upset with the overall format. More often than not he had to kiss the guy, over the girl. Pretty tough for a Sim of Faith, as he is. And, he only ever won once for all of his efforts. I used the pictures to infer he'd won for his singing, but it just isn't the same, you know? The most he won, during this latest go-around was three in a row, before he no longer got the notice work was in an hour, or the popup allowing me to Join, which I believe is crucial for that win. Then he got gold performances two more times, but no nomination. I went ahead and sent him to the Accolades anyway, because one time he got the trophy without the nomination. Not so, this last game save. Pretty disappointing, I must say. So, I did some research on GF and learned there is a way to win in the music realm. Going for it, full throttle.

Wow, Erik put on those tight, tight pants, son. You're skinny enough to make 'em look good. LOL thanks for the encouragement. I have never seen a cool character award. I shall have to watch out for that one. I did run into a peculiar problem with the Awards, though, recently. The Host took up the first hour and a half without giving out a single award! What's up with that? I decided to exit without saving, as something was clearly wrong.

No need to be in uni. or ambitious to win. My sim won for a song she wrote as a child... (not sure if children can actually win accolades, but teens definitely can win for work they did when even younger). Is he going to do 4 classes at once when in uni? If not, I think it might still work out okay with him having a job, classes, and going to the accolades on Sunday as long as you get his research & debate skill pretty high while he's still a teen.

That's so good to hear. I generally give all the kids I take to Uni four classes. That's three Sim weeks. I turn aging off while they are there, so as to not lose any time, if you will. (I turned it off in the game, so nobody ages.) But, I'm uncertain if I can handle four Sim weeks. We'll see. I plan on taking eight Sims through all at once. I've done seven at least twice. Juggle, juggle, juggle.
