Launcher won’t open? Please help

Hello there,

I recently just purchased a new laptop to play sims 3. I download origin and all my expansions and the base game but when I press play on origin literally nothing happens? I’m so confused!


I downloaded Sims 4 and it opened no problem. ??

I don't remember the thread itself, but the Sims 3 launcher is fickle and some things can get in it's way. Apparently it is a known thing.

You could try opening game different way: Program files (x86) -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3 -> Game -> Bin -> click "open" on TS3.exe

@deavve - Those with Origin managed installs cannot start the game another way. Running the TS3 executable directly only sends the player back to Origin on Patch 1.69.

Both of these players required an install of DirectX 9, as their new(er) systems came only with version 12 pre-installed. The game won't run without the older version available as well, and they got up an running on different forum threads here.
