My love, my love, my fearless love, I will not say goodbye..
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..
@VeeDub it depends on what's cooking. Or does it...? 🤔
It very well might. But have you ever been hungry enough to think you could eat just about anything, so you're delighted to find something surprisingly delicious in the fridge... And all too late as you gobble it up, you realize it had already begun to... decompose? And no, I don't mean the kind of decomposition that makes certain potent potables or other things that are worth the rot they need to be created in the first place.
Also, this isn't as off-topic as it might seem. It's just my very meandering and not-at-all-subtle compliment on your story thus far. Maybe the real question is "How long has it been there, waiting, hiding all that time in the shadows?"
I apologize for the silly tangent. I'll give you back your thread now!
FYI: Just because you can see my signature, don't assume that I can see yours.
Because I can't; I keep all sigs turned off.
One fine morning Eabha cycles into the village. She wants out. Or is it really her who wants out?
She has a feeling that someone told her to go...
She can't remember who it was.
Or what it was.
Was it Tippi the housekeeper?
Was it....the familiar man who she cannot really recognize?
She knows exactly where she needs to go though...
Indeed. She needs to go to that shop. She was told to go to that shop.
The Second Hand shop with the red dress. She was told to go get that dress.
Yes. Yes. That dress is hers...
It was always hers.
Some time later...
Somehow she feels more like herself, wearing this dress.
It feels different to that black gown.
This dress feels...pretty on her. How delightful!
Delightful enough to be going for a stroll in the garden.
She remembers how much she really loves this garden.
Her Garden.
Her Courtyard.
Her Stables.
Her...
"Eabha?"
"Eabha?!"
"Eabha. You're looking...lovely. Isn't it a bit...cold to be wandering outdoors in a summer dress like that?
Anyways, you won't believe this! Here's me all prepared to go find a handy man so that we can finally get a couple of stairguards installed and guess what?
I found him!"
Found Him...?
"Or Eabha, should I say he found me. US."
"I want you to finally meet me big brother Mister Randall O'Shea!
He happened to be in the village and I suppose a village being a village...it wasn't too difficult for him to find out who looks after The Big Bad Hall On Top Of The Hill. Especially when a big lad like Randy starts asking questions..."
"Haven't seen him in Donkey's Years and here he is, wanders in like nothing happened. The cheek of him!
At least we'll be getting some stuff fixed around the place or I wouldn't even let him near the stables, let alone the house!"
Randy O'Shea...
Brother...
That means nothing to her.
Absolutely nothing at all.
But those eyes...
Oh yes, those eyes....
Later, when she is alone in her room, she thinks about those eyes.
His eyes. The eyes she remembers so well.
Finally the waiting is over.
He's here.
It's Him.
And now Her story can begin.
Another great update ! Literally cannot wait for more!!
My love, my love, my fearless love, I will not say goodbye..
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..
Irina Anna Elizabeth Goth of The Hall inherited The Hall after she lost her husband at The Siege of Windenburg two years earlier.
Each morning she goes to see him, but not at his graveside memorial. His true grave is at sea and that's where he will forever be. As The Captain of The Moonwind it's what he would have wanted. And the sea is in Irina's heart. That way he will always be with her.
In the mornings she visits the painting of her late husband. It is her painting of him. She painted him on a Sunday - outside in the rose garden- two weeks before he left for war.
It was quite warm that day in spring and all she can recall is that he couldn't stop make her laugh while she was trying to immortalize him in that painting. This is why she never really got his nose right.
Back then it was hard not to notice.
When she looks upon his face these days it's like she cannot even remember him differently...
Three days after she heard the sad news of her husband's passing, the war was over. Windenburg was liberated.
On that same day six impoverished orphan girls arrived at The Hall...
The children begged for shelter, they begged for food. Irina wanted to mourn her loved one, but instead she took in the girls. She couldn't save her husband's life, but perhaps she could save the lives of six young ladies...
She offered them warmth and listened to their stories.
Her mission was to educate the girls and raise them as though they were her own.
She would take them on excursions...
...and she would teach them how to use needle and thread.
She asked Cook to show them how to prepare dinner...
and the older girls would learn to help with the laundry.
After midnight...
...when all the residents of the Hall were sound asleep...
...Irina would be wide awake.
She would gaze upon the painting of The Moonwind at Sea...
...she would wander the corridors...
...and sneak into the classroom.
And there Irina Anna Elizabeth Goth would write letters to The Captain of The Moonwind...
And she'd find herself dreaming...
About a nightly stroll...
...and a Stone Gazebo.
And there she would wait for her husband and swear to herself that she would never ever love another man again...
My love, my love, my fearless love, I will not say goodbye..
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..
@mightysprite , the excursion screenshot looking like a movie still from Sound of Music was semi intentional. I had the girls follow that lady at some point and that’s when it suddenly dawned on me that the entire set-up seemed a bit like the one in the film. So I decided to take the shot at a similar angle.
As for next shot referring to the song….not intentional at all. Great that you made that connection! I should have played with it haha! Unfortunately we have no “Doe, a deer a female deer” in our game. Yet. 😁
Thank you for asking! ☺️
My life sort of turned Topsy Turvy around the time I put this story on hold. I needed to spend the little energy I had left on managing other creative projects and I’ve been super busy ever since.
That said…. I will get back to it as soon as I’ve reconstructed the story world ; Unfortunately I was forced to delete a bunch of corrupted save files -including this one - but starting with a clean slate will actually help me reconnect with the characters.
They’re all still alive and well by the way and I’m looking forward to sharing more chapters with you all soon-ish!

The excursion looks exactly like a shot from the movie The Sound of Music, and then your next shot is essentially "Sew, a needle pulling thread..."
