Hi,

There are 2 characters to modify : Mortimer and Bella Goth
How an young adult can be the mother of a teenage ?

For example if Bella is a 20/30 years old human and Cassandra is a 16/18 years old teenage, that means she was a child/teen when she was pregnant and Mortimer was a teenage/young adult.
It's technically impossible because the game doesn't allow it. (No teen/adult romance, no teen pregnancy)

• Bella should be an adult and Mortimer should be an elder like The Sims 2.
• Or Cassandra could be a child like The Sims (2000) and Alexander could be a toddler.

I think it's subjective and completely depends on what ages you view each life stage to be.
To me, young adult is around 18-40.
If Cassandra is 15, and her Mother had her at 20, then she'd only be 35 years old.

Maybe she's taking a lot of potions of youth haha... but I agree, that's weird.
And in Cottage Living both Watsons are young adults too, and they have a teenage daughter.

My rule about the parents is :

• Young Adult parents -> Baby, Toddler and Child
• Adult parents -> Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen and YA
• Elder parents -> Child, Teen, YA and Adult

Her age never bothered me that much. I guess I like to think that people can be Young Adult while they are having children.

Nah, it's fine. In Sims 3 Bella and Morty were the same age, but none of the games really are too concerned about consistency in the lore.

It really depends on how you define a young adult. I always use the ratio 1,1,1,3,4,2 and while adults maybe go to a little too old using that ratio regarding having children, it makes sense to me. Sims 3 I was able to adjust this in the game settings while Sims 4 I have to use MCCC.

Though looking at the ages EA assigns, it shouldn't be possible. The absolutely fastest on normal game speed, assuming you go directly from baby to child, is 27 days, 34 if you add in the the toddler stage. Young adult stage is 24 days. Oops. I guess they wanted to make Bella a sex goddess and that meant she couldn't be an adult. A bit ageist if true, Maxis.

Edit: I need to learn how to math.

Lol, I always thought that was a bit weird too. Though I just figured maybe she was in her early, early twenties when she had Cassandra.

Never really bothered me. Since we know sims don't age while pregnant, I just figured that happened and she took a youth potion.

I take Sims 4 ages as an approximation. Bella is meant to be somewhat youthful and have married an older man. While it's logical for her to be a young adult with a teen child, I get that it's meant to be more of a storyline thing.

Same thing with Katrina being an adult, with young adult kids. They wanted to show that she looks good for her age/had kids really early.

It can happen IRL. I am an adult with a young adult child IRL. My oldest is just entering college after graduating high school. She is only a couple years younger than The Sims franchise. I am only about 25 years older than her.

In term of simdays, it's impossible because the baby becomes a teen 100 days later, the same length as YA life stage.

Life stage length (Long life) :

• Baby : 12 days
• Toddler : 32 days
• Child : 56 days
• Teen : 56 days
• YA : 100 days
• Adult : 100 days
• Elder : 44 days

You do have some people who skip the baby stage altogether. I personally skip the toddler stage in this game, because I dislike it.

Used to be the only way to be a YA in TS2 (and they were confined to the uni worlds).

I usually think of YA in TS4 to be around 18-35 years which makes Bella being the mother of a teenager more plausible to me.

Toddler : 1-3 years old
Child : 3-9 years old
Preteen : 9-12 years old
Teen : 12-18 years old
YA : approximately ages 18-30s
Adult : 30-45 years old
Middle Age (Elder ?) : 45-65 years old
Old Age : +65 years old

12 + 18 = a 30 years old adult

Yep, that's what I'm thinking. Not possible in-game without potions and such, but quite possible in real life.

I remember in the sims 2 Mortimer is an elder while Bella is still an adult . Morty is just a little older than her . It's just sims team didn't adjust her lifespan before the game release (probably because they don't have time so skipped it )( for 7 years ).

Yep, that's what I'm thinking. Not possible in-game without potions and such, but quite possible in real life.

In game, a baby become an YA after 156 days, so the YA parent will be an adult + 56 days

TS2 says that Mort invented the Elixir of Life, so Bella would have easy access to it and probably even volunteered to test it. That’s my theory, anyway.
