First off I want to say thank you for letting us talk and for taking the time to listen, not only now but lately. We appreciate that you have brought us better skin colors, better POC hair, sentiments, and farming (farming is such a challenge and I love it). These are steps in the right direction and we are looking forward to a new pack refresh, townie makeovers, and future possibilities of more challenging gameplay!
Please note: I know that this is not an idea or request forum, so please note that all ideas under, or references to older games are there to give you a better picture of what I see as challenge in a game like the sims. I do understand that you can not please us all and that's ok. <3
LOT CHALLENGES I love the recent addition of lot challenges and think this is a great addition to the game. I hope you'll keep adding to this as new content for the game is added. I'm imagining the following: - bad neighborhood: chance of getting robbed? - bad influence: Kids in this area have other interests than homework and will have a bad influence on your kids and their grades. - UFO-sone: bigger risk of getting abducted by aliens - bad air quality: risk of shortened life stages as young adult/adult/elder - expensive neighborhood: all expenses doubles
TRAITS I love the traits and would happily take more (but please, not the ones that just guide you through a pack). I also loved what you did with the traits overhaul and hope that the traits will have even more impact on our sims life in the future. Maybe trait could be inherited (like the sulani mana) in order to make it more challenging and not be able to always choose yourself.
LIKES AND DISLIKES I love this addition and think the potential for challenge is huge. Please add all the missing activities, it would be great.
ATTRACTIONS Attractions would add a lot of challenge to my gameplay because it would make the whole finding-a-partner thing harder. Maybe be potential husband doesn't like blondes? Or glasses? This could easily be added to the likes and dislikes in order to not need to make a new system for it.
WANTS AND FEARS In Sims 2 we had wants and fears, which had a huge impact on my gameplay. Sometimes I played to please my sim, other times to do the opposite. By having wants and fears in-game you had more guidelines and therefore more challenges, even in relaxed play.
MEMORIES In Sims 2 our sims had memories, either bad or good. This challenged us to keep our sims moods up, and to complete tasks as teaching our toddlers to walk, completing homework and promotions, and getting married. To make the first kiss a good memory was important and the same went for birthday parties.
BACK STORIES / LORE Lore has been a long time request from many of us OG players and I'm happy you are taking a look into that now. The lore from the sims 2 was amazing, and all the backstories and the already established relationships made the gameplay a lot more challenging. The missing Bella Goth was enough for me to spend the entirety of the sims 2 searching for Bella Goth in Strangerville and even if that was not really an official challenge is was enough to keep me busy.
TEENS Everybody knows about rebellious teens irl, but where are they in the sims 4? We want our teens to act out, sneak out of home, have home-alone parties, be brought home in a police car. Maybe the worst ones will be shipped off to military school? Or maybe you could reintroduce the private schools again? The effort i put into impressing the headmaster with my amazing dinners and entertainment back in the sims 2 will never be forgotten.
TODDLERS Another life stage that potentially could add more challenge to the game. I love when they make a mess with paint, but I want more! I loved it when we had to teach them to walk, or when they could escape the cribs in the sims 2. I also loved that they used bottles, at least for a bit. In the sims 4 they seem way too independent.
ONE-SIDED RELATIONSHIPS This could help with storytelling, with the lore, and add more challenge when building relationships in normal gameplay. Or maybe we could have long-term and short-term relations ship?
SURPRISING DEATHS I love when my sims die unexpectedly, and I'm so happy that you keep adding new ways to die. Don't be afraid to add even more and make it more random. If my sims die by thunder during a family outing it really adds to the story, and ads challenge because my family all of a sudden just have one parent and in other words just one income.
SKILL BUILDING: Right now, my sims gain its first skillbar in any skill the moment they start any activity. I think thats too easy. It should start on cero, and the sim should have to work to even get the first skill point.
LIFE CRISES I know mental illness is something many people don't want in a sims game, I totally understand why. Still, I think that things like the social bunny, the shrink, the flour sack baby, and the imaginary friend all added to the feeling that your sims had hit rock bottom. It was a nice way of depicting something many of us have to go through without making it too realistic and challenges you to get your sim back on the right track
CHAOS To sum up, I think I can say that I miss a bit of the chaos that I loved in sims 2. As soon as you open the game things started to happen, one way or another you had to navigate a number of different factors just to keep your sims life from being destroyed. I'm not at all asking you to recreate the game, but maybe keep these things in mind for future content.
PS: Please don't add mandatory story progression or challenges where occults attack your sims. Thank you <3
For me adding more depth into the game starts with the relationships. Right now every relationship feels the same and is too easy to build. Here are some ways they could be improved.
At the moment all sims' relationship bars increase and decrease at equal rates. Having uneven relationship bars could be a way to create more complex relationships like unrequited crushes, bitter exes or angsty teens that hate their parents. For example, if a sim catches their partner cheating, then only their relationship bars should go down as they are the one who has been wronged. It should also be harder for the cheater to rebuild that relationship.
Adding an Attraction or Chemistry system could also help with relationships. The higher the compatibility between sims the higher the success rate, making it more challenging to romance any and every sim in the game. This could also apply to platonic relationships. Attraction/Chemistry could be based on compatible likes & dislikes, traits, aspirations and skills. As well as gender, appearance, career, and wealth. Every sim would have different preferences meaning, Sim A could be very attracted to Sim B for example but not the other way around. Sim A's relationship bar would thus increase at a faster rate then Sim B's when they interacted.
Adding Realistic Reactions could also add depth into the game. For example realistically speaking, children would react negatively if their parents break up, and their relationship bars and moodlets would reflect that. Also realistically, sims would not automatically go back into friendly chatting after negative/mean interactions. It would take more time to rebuild that friendliness.
Consequences for sims' actions would also add depth and challenge. For example if your sim's romantic relationship decreases dramatically, there could be a chance that their partner autonomously asks to break up with them. This could be implemented with a pop up that gives players the option to accept or not.
Another way to add depth could include NPC Story Progression. If an NPC is attracted to my sim then they could autonomously make the first move romantically, or romance other NPCs autonomously. A toggle in Game Options could be added where you can turn Story Progression on or off depending on your playing style. Having it on would let generated townies generate with careers, let them form friendships, romantic relationships, families, or enemies based on an Attraction or Chemistry System. This would allow townies to have active lives without me having to go play every household in the save file. I personally love when things happen to my sim or in the world around them without me personally making it happen. I love surprises and for the world to feel alive.
Tuned Autonomy is another big way depth could be added into the game. Yes, I love the idea of my sims doing things autonomously but not when every sim does the same autonomous actions no matter what their Likes and Traits are. For example sims constantly getting on the computer to play games. I would like autonomy to depend on sims' personalities. Aspirations, traits and the new Likes & Dislikes system is the perfect way to affect autonomy. For example if I create a sim that dislikes playing video games, they should not autonomously play video games. Or if a sim has the Vegetarian trait they should not autonomously eat or cook foods with meat in them.
In conclusion, I think that more complex relationships, realism, sim's with unique personalities, and lively NPCs would be a great start in adding more depth and challenge to the game. Thank you.
Sul sul so i do have to say i love the sims very much but i do have some gripes its awesome that you tried to replicate sims on pc for console but its like too much an not enough at the same time we want to be able to have the same experience but not feel like the ugly stepchild that no one wants gamers on console deserves better than what we have gotten which doesn’t mean a $40 pack to pad the game out this is a wish list this is a need list for console gamers
More random events, like your company downsizes and you lose your job.
Timed events and goals.
Setting whole families disagreeable.
Random fights.
Natural disasters.
Less smiling sims all the time (it's creepy).
Actual consequences.
There is too much routine, not enough chance. However, I feel the option to turn off chance encounters and events should always be there.
All over house decay so that things must be fixed like the roof and windows. Maybe paint fades, wallpaper peels, windows leak.
Sims wanting to move.
Sims getting bored of their decorations.
Alien abducted sims are never the same again and become paranoid as default, and want to quit their job especially if it involves tech and go live off the grid.
More walking paths for families! Love watching my sims walk together and chat.
Burglars.
A funny Sims dating app. ( I couldn't help but put it in)
Sims are too nice. I never dread my teen sims become teen sims. I never feel my elder sims are really that old. Life stage difficulty would be interesting.
Just a few things that would make a HUGE difference:
Styled Looks: Players should be able to create and save Styled Looks. Bonus option: We can share them to the Gallery.
Townies: Players should have the option to spawn Townies from community created Sims saved in the players' Gallery.
Sim Spawning: Sims should stay in their own worlds unless they are vacationing. This quirk really breaks the immersion for me.
Disasters and Death: More drama for the Sim preppers, please! Alien invasions. Vampire infestations. Things that will drive my Sims into their bunkers where they have to stay for a few days.
Bank Loans and Credit Scores: Sims should have the ability from the start to buy a house they can't afford at interest rates that are either favorable or sure to bankrupt them. Maybe tie interest rates to credit scores that are affected by payment history and career.
--+++ Simming since 2000. All packs. All in! +++--
Money: it's way to easy to obtain massive amounts of money in the sims. advancing in careers is way to easy and skills like painting, flower arranging, etc can give you tons of money specifically at level 10. This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so easy to level up skills. This takes away from any kind of challenge In the game. It would be great if we could have some kind of set talents and weaknesses for sims and more setbacks with careers. We also Don't have a lot of things to spend are massive amounts of money on. Bills have gotten a lot better but other then that sims don't have big purchases they need to make. University could have been one but its way to cheap(at least from a American standpoint). TANGENT: If we had cars that could add a big expense. The sims team could make it so you needed to pay for a taxi to travel if you don't have a car. The taxi would also take some time to arrive. Anyways items in the catalog are also weirdly priced. For example in eco lifestyle wind turbines and solar panels should be worth a lot more.
Relationships: it's way to easy to form relationships with townies. I could introduce myself to a sim and in the same day get married to them and have a baby. This can tie in with money because it's also a option in the game to marry a rich sim and take their money on the first day of playing. I would love if Rich sims would actually be more suspicious of other sims trying to use them. This could potentially make it harder for this to happen. Another thing is everybody seems to always like your sim. For example even if you sim is a serial romantic and has left a string of broken hearts behind them townies still want a relationship. If we had a reputation system for everyday sims not just famous ones it would fix this. It would also be nice if sims could just not like you. Like if you have complete opposite traits you could start out with a negative relationship. Like a evil sim and a good sim. It should also be harder to gain relationship with them in general. Another thing is sims Don't have a lot of personality. Every sim more or less feels the same. The player usually has to fully guide gameplay in terms of a sims personality. I love that the sims is a sandbox and we can do pretty much anything but it would be nice to have some guidance as to what my sims wants based on their personality. Revamping whims would help. It would be nice if my sims could have whims tied to their aspiration and traits. They could also have some gameplay changing whims like divorce spouse, move house, have a baby, etc. Also bringing back wants and fears would really help because it guides gameplay in a more meaningful way. Another thing to address is Parents treat kids like strangers. It's like your sims relationship with their parents Flys out the window once they move out. It's super strange.
unpredictability: The sims 4 sims always have to be managed. Everything is exactly to the players design. It gets kinda boring when everything is your way. It would be nice to have unexpected events pop up that change your plans and you have to work around them. A example of small unexpected events could be burglers, sims get sick(I know we already have this but it doesn't happen as often as I would like), acne(teens get it randomly and feel embarrassed instead of just puttingit on in cas), getting arrested breaking curfew or vandalism, etc Bigger unexpected events could be meteors killing your sim, losing your job from picking the wrong option during a random work event, affairs, job relocation, significant other breaking up with you, etc. Of course there could be a option to turn these off for those who want full control in order to tell stories. If we had this a long with story progression and lore the sims world could feel so much more alive and realistic. Another issue is the sims team like to make it harder for you sim to die unexpectedly. For example if your sim is struck by lightning they won't die tell they get struck a second time within a set time span. There should atleast be a chance for them to die instantly.
Consequences: I went into this a little with relationships but I'm specifically talking about consequences outside of just relationships. Some examples of bad things your sims can do with no consequences are try for a baby with a sim and then just completely forget about the child, vandalism(city living), getting into fights, streaking, taking plasma from another sim(vampires), stealing, being in the criminal career, etc. In the first case I think some kind of child support could help and with the others add police. Police already exist from get to work. It's to bad that some of the scenarios in that career aren't in base game.
Depth:
Meaningfull interactions: For example if you own a retail store and a sim buys a object, clothing or piece of furniture and you switch to the household of the sim who just purchased something from you they will not have that furniture item in their household inventory, that object in their inventory or that extra outfit in cas. Another example is in cottage living if you hide something under the snail, switch to another household and look under the snail the item your other sim put will not be there. This is a running theme with the sims 4. If a sim does something that should impact the world it should actually impact the world. Your environment also has no impact on how your sim reacts. For example with engagements. You could get engaged in a bathroom and your sim wouldn't care. They would still just except. The mood and environment your sim is in should more heavily impact their choices.
Genetics: this isn't really the biggest issue compared to others in this list but its a issue that particularly bugs me. Genetics in the sims 4 are basically anime genetics. There are no dominant or recessive traits and kids can't inherent a trait from one of their descendents. I do like that hair texture can be inherented however I just wish that aspect was a little more detailed. Like if you have one parent with straight hair and one with tightly coiled hair their kid could have anywhere in between that. Straight, wavy, curly, coilly. This could be a great way to add more depth in cas/genetics because it adds some surprise into the game.
Gameplay/Gameplay with life states other then young adults: I'm sure it doesn't need to be said that gameplay in general is lacking. In terms of adding content for other life states besides young adults we are on our way but not completely there yet. The lack of gameplay for toddlers, kids, teens and elders makes simmers not want to play them. They DESPERATELY need more depth and things in general to do. In terms of gameplay for young adults please fixing autonomy so that sims don't constantly just stare at decor or something else strange would be great. Just that would add more depth.
Personality: I can see that the sims team is working harder to give sims more personal but more needs to be done. Traits were updated but more traits and trait slots, a Better memory system, wants/fears could add a whole heap of depth to sims personalities. More events like baby showers, gender reveals, honeymoons, sleepovers, etc could also add depth by giving us more opportunity to connect with other sims. Lastly Emotional tuning needs a revamp. For example my sims husband died. She was sad for awhile but then instantly became happy because she was in a nicely decorated room. Her sadness should override most of her other emotions. This element adds depth through its realism.
Extra: so I didn't know where to fit this in but this idea has been circulating a lot. Many sims often talk about the reuse of animations in the game. I just wanted to add that a reuse of animations isn't what takes from the depth of this game its the lack of outcomes. You should have a multitude of different things that could happen after completing any kind of action. Like for example if sim goes skiing there should be a multitude of outcomes there. Maby they get a minor injury, maby a major one, maby they find out they hate skiing, maby they love it and become famous.
How to implement: A good way to go about all of this would be adding sliders and difficulty levels for all of these. That way simmers who want challenge can have as much as they want and simmers who don't don't have to deal with it
Also let me just add this- Sims team, you are all people who are from a family, who may have your own family or crowd of people in your lives, your own stories. You all live on this planet sharing the human experience. I'm sure you have all dealt with your fair share of difficulty, trial, adversity, loss, failed relationships, and general life changing experiences. Think of how they shaped you. Think of how it feels to overcome obstacles and daily challenges. Now think of how much of that is reflected in The Sims 4. Think of how much there is for the player to overcome in the game. We feel rewarded when we are challenged and we beat it. That's what makes games fun.
Thanks for doing this again! Three things to improve depth: Story progression, improved traits, expanded sentiments!
Story progression:
Lyndsay Pearson explained that the philosophy of Sims 4 is different in that players are supposed to create their sims' stories. Sims 4 supports rotational play styles more than anything else. However, sims has been a life simulator, not a utopia where can control everything that happens. The fun comes with the build-up of events you can't control. The worlds need to feel more alive and sims should be impacted by those around them! At its core, Sims has been a life simulator, not a utopia. Story progression offers even greater opportunities for storytelling and gameplay depth. Currently, after a single generation, the town feels dry and is filled with randomly generated townies. In order to satisfy rotational/non-rotational styles, there should be a story progression toggle in the settings (as included in the sims 3).
Traits:
The trait update was amazing, and it can be taken further! Traits need to better influence the way the player navigates a sims's life. Five trait slots is a must, as sims feel entirely one dimensional - by now there are enough traits available to do this. With every pack, there should be more varied traits and aspirations, not just having to do with the pack specifically to serve as tutorial. Throw in shyness! Throw in unlucky! Players will always appreciate extra traits and aspirations, no matter the connection to the pack. The whims system, factoring in traits, needs to also incorporate fears. This way, personalities will feel more dynamic, and sims will find value out of the things they love and base their behavior on the things they hate!
Sentiments:
Sentiments were a great addition to the game and can be built upon. Use sentiments to make sims experience consequences! I like that my sim now remembers when their partner cheated on them, however, something like cheating, for example, should have a greater impact on the sims around them. Perhaps their kids may dislike them, or townies may develop a negative first impression based on rumors. Sentiments can also be used to form one-sided relationships (such as crushes, fake friends, and situations of envy). Sentiments were an innovative change, and there should be more of them!
C:
Overall, there should be more depth "under the cover," so that the game just feels more immersive. Things should impact the sim without the player necessarily being shown in a new UI menu addition. I think the community is very pleased with the progress that's been made with Sims 4 this year, and we're all hoping you take our suggestions with strong consideration. By now, the players know what's missing and are giving you all the answers plus more. In the end, we want to support this series.
Depth and Challenge. I think it would be great to have more of both in the emotion system. There is a mod out there that I use Always. I won't name it as I think it might be inappropriate. Depth in the area of the strength of the emotion depending on the situation. Example a death, length affected by the relationship. Challenge in the area of what it takes to move the emotion. Example cheating, walking into a nicely decorated or dust-free room should not change the emotion.
Hello Sims Team! Thanks for the opportunity to share your opinions and ideas. My name is Victoria and I've been playing The Sims for 20 years. I agree with the opinion of most of the players about: Improving relationships (family, romantic, between neighbors). The complication of the game (robbers, accidents, diseases). Transport additions (cars, school buses, ambulances, police). More character traits, reworking of the system of immotions, likes and dislikes. And the last, I understand this is not very important, as a temporary event was held to receive a painting "Family portrait" for installing Sims Mobile, I did not have the opportunity to get it because this event did not work in my country. Will this portrait be given in the future?
Sul Sul from Russia! My name is Anna. I want to inquire about first and last names in The Sims 4 for Russian localization (CAS and town NPC).
I created a list of names and surnames that fit perfectly into the game style. I would like to give you this database so that you can integrate it into the base game for Russian localization.
I am the maker of the mod that changes names from the base game. For example: not Ivanov (Иванов) but Johnson (Джонсон), and many others.
More than 500 first and last international names for sims that are good for not only Russian localization but also for others. Sims is more focused on the Western European lifestyle, so some Russian names and surnames seem awkward in the game.
I am eager to help my favorite game become even better! <3
Hello! I've had some thoughts about the game and this is all I can't think of right now.
*Story progression*: This would add so much to the gameplay. It would be great if the NPCs weren't a blank slate. Everyone is single, unemployed and they just get old and die. Not good for the Sims population.
*Attraction system and relationships*: Can you make relationships harder? I would like for my sim to get rejected, and if I spam a certain interaction I want to see them get bored. Right now it's just too easy. It would be really cool if a random NPC had a crush on your sim but they don't feel the same and vice versa. Also be furious if your spouse just cheated on you, make the rebuild of that relationship harder. I had a relationship with a sim where she had full red romantic bar, and I just spammed random romantic interactions and boom they were in love again.
*Family*: Can you make the game recognize cousins? It's a bit awkward. Maybe free babies from the bassinets? Make cradles, strollers so they can take their children to the park. Also why do teens look like young adults? They should at least be a little shorter or have acne. It would be nice for the relationship to change between a teen sim and their parents. Let's be honest, your mom wasn't your best friend when you were 15. Maybe a new life stage between toddlers and kids?
*Memory system*: Why don't they have long term memories? It feels essential for a life simulation game. Your loved one dies, you're sad for two days and then you just forget they ever existed? Seems a bit wrong. And because I forget lives of my Sims if I don't play for a while. I love to play legacy families so I just want for them to be remembered in some way.
*Wants/fears*: This would add depth so much. If they don't get to do what they want shouldn't that make them sad? Whims do nothing, this would add a negative side and maybe impact the course of a gameplay. If they meet someone and they like them they should want to see them again, or want to get romantically involved. Or have fears that their child is going to be unsuccessful or something like that.
*Jobs*: It's really easy to get promotions. It would be nice to have pop ups that actually affect their jobs, maybe they can get demoted or even fired.
Hi, The Sims team and fellow Simmers! Hope you are having a good day! I would like to talk about 6 things, that in my opinion need a higher level of challenge and depth in The Sims™ 4: Aspirations, Whims, Mood system, Personality, Careers & Friendships and Dating
1. Reworking Aspirations First of all, aspirations are long-term goals that my sim should be working on in their entire lifetime. Right now, aspirations feel like a tutorial, and are too easy. I love how Lifetime Wants in The Sims™ 2 and Lifetime Wishes worked in The Sims™ 3. I would like Aspirations to be similar to those (like reach the top of a career)
2. Updating the Whim System Whims are short-term goals that are easily achievable and guide a sim's life. Unfortunately, Whims weren't updated since The Sims™4 Seasons. I would like if every pack would add new whims. This is essential to people who are playing whims-based.
3. Fixing the Mood System The mood system is currently broken. My sim's parent died in the morning, but all of a sudden they forgot about the death of their loved one. They are happy because they got a promotion at work and got a new friend. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible, especially that this is a new addition to The Sims™ 4, that we never saw in the previous games.
4. Personality Every sim should feel individual. We have traits, but they are not really deep and rely on the mood system. I want my sims to be their own selves. I loved the addition of preferences to the game and i would like to see more Likes & Dislikes, like Food and Drink preferences, Gender and Attraction preferences. I would like to see Strenghts and Weeknesses in the game. This would make the sims feel more individual. Not everyone is good at the same thing, and everybody struggles at different things.
5. Careers Careers are too easy. Not every sim should reach the top of their careers, just like in real life. Degrees should be needed to progress in careers. Only the hardest working sims should reach the top.
6. Friendships and Dating Making friends is way too easy. My sims can become best friends in just one afternoon. Sims can meet, get married and have babies in the same day. This should not be like this. Not all sims should be compatible with eachother. You should only reach a 100 relationship with who you really get on.
Thank you for letting me and every Simmer write down how we want The Sims™ 4 to improve. Keep up the good work, the game is heading in the right direction! :)
1. I really want family gameplay because right now there is not really anything toddlers, kids and teens can do and that makes them feel different from the adults like maybe having a prom, boarding school, being able to sneak out and grounded and have teen parties if the adults are away like what the sims 3 generations had and actually having things for kids and toddlers (mainly toddlers) instead of them just being an after thought and just more things you can do as a family I also want more objects for kids and toddlers not just the same activity table recoloured 7 times.
2. that there was more traits and aspirations and that a sims could have more then 3 like in the sims 3 and that they actually effected the sims and the gameplay.
3. have more deaths or at least a bit more difficult to die.
4. harder relationship gain like in past sims games also an attraction system with turn on and offs also online dating and friendships.
5. I think a cool idea would be to be able to donate blood to vampires.
6. I think it needs to be harder to make money and get promotions.
7. a memory system and fears and wants like the sims 2.
8. the jaws/chins of sims through the generations needs be be fix by the time you get to the 5th generation they have no jaw/chin.
9. if you guys are gonna stick the the whole moods thing make it actually effect the gameplay because right now it doesn't.
10. more poc hair textures for the base game it would be cool if you could have any hairstyle and there be an option for the texture like how there is with colours.
as a whole I just want it to be more like the sims 2 and 3. With those games you could play for hours and not get bored but with the sims 4 you play for maybe an hour or less and are bored already because there really is nothing to do even if you have all of the packs. I miss the randomness and craziness or the past sims games it made it so fun and unpredictable unlike the sims 4. With the sims 4 it still even after 7 years it still feels unfishished. There is also a problem with how you can really only enjoy the sims 4 you if have multiple packs and/or mods where with the sims 3 the base game was amazing on it's own with no packs or mods. Also there are so many bugs with so many packs even when some of them have only just been released they are already bugging and unplayable which I think is unexceptable with a $50+ that is not an indie game. Thank you for the opportunity hopefully you actually take some of this and what everyone else is saying on board so hopefully the sims can be enjoyable like it once was.
Currently the "challenges" in the gameplay are mostly based on the event/task system, which gets repetitive and makes events shallow, since you're always encouraged to do exactly the same things in the same order. For example, the tasks for a successful date event are always the same: sit and talk, make jokes, flirt, have a deep conversation etc. This doesn't encourage the player to make up their own date stories. Preferably I would like some alternative method to get a gold medal for events without doing the tasks, or at least the tasks could vary more depending on what objects there are at the venue, and the success could depend more on likes/dislikes. For example, if a sim is on a date at a bowling alley they might get a task to go bowling with their date. Then their date might become upset because they dislike bowling, which would decrease the success meter for the date. This would make events much more interesting and challenging to play.
Also, the NPC sims could use some more variation and dynamic/random changes. For example "story progression", which for me means that other sims than the played household spontaneously marry, divorce, move, have children etc. There should also be an option to turn this on or off for each household/lot. I would also like an option to replace all the default households with random households/sims when starting a new game, since I'm tired of seeing the same faces all the time. I start new games quite often in order to try other careers, hobbies or ways of life, but it feels like it's the same game since they always have the same people dropping by.
Oh, and homework should be abolished. Kids and teens have so little time to do anything else than school and homework on weekdays. Their lives are really limited because of that.
Hi there! There's a few things I would like to bring up. One being shallow relationships and cheating consequences. We have relied on modders for so long to fix these issues but I would like to see them in the base game. I have found that cheating literally does nothing. I've had my sims cheat in front of their significant other and they do nothing they just stand their smiling and it infuriates me. There's limited romantic interactions and I also have to control everything they do romantically in the sense that my sims always has to be the one to start a relationship. I would love random sims to come up and start asking my sims out on a date and to be boyfriend/girlfriend etc. It's all just one sided.
Problem 2: There's no illness mechanic. Well what there is but it's just not deep enough. My sims can get sick then use the magic medicine that cures everything or just wait and they will get better. I want actual deadly illnesses that sometimes can't be cured.
Problem 3: a proper memory system to actually cause some issues for sims. So a sad memory can make them unable to do things for a set amount of time or make them able to do things but at a lesser standard so their work performance suffers.
Problem 4: a banking system. Cheating money makes things just too easy. You can move into a massive home by just cheating it. Make a banking system so sims have to apply for loans and mortgages to get into big houses and then have consequences if they can't pay their bills other than just shutting off power and water and getting embarrassed by landlords.
These are my main things that really bug me and would love to see in the base game. If you could consider these things I know a lot of simmers would be very grateful 💕🌿
This was something I pre-typed out and pasted here in prep for today whilst the ideas were fresh in my head, so I may end up already echoing everybody else.
First off, I want to say that Sentiments, Likes and Dislikes are a step in the right direction for making the Sims themselves more individuals. I think that family play is a lot more fun with the introductions of allowing kids to help with cooking and gardening as well, and so it is good to see more things for Child sims to and more group activites/things they can do with their parents, carers etc. It's also good to see more basegame updates rolling out. I'm also happy to hear that the lore will be updated for all the premades and places since it's always good to have something to 'go off of' before doing a playthrough, at least for me and my hardcore-storytelling-type playstyle.
As for things I think require attention:
ROMANCE: Romantic relationships still feel very lacking to me, they feel 'shallow'. There aren't many varied romantic interactions in TS4 as there were in previous games (trying not to compare too much to old iterations) and I feel as if there is little consequence to things such as cheating (for example, as far as I'm aware, it does nothing to affect Reputation from GF, whereas 3 had a romantic rep feature which I really enjoyed, and which punished you for messing other Sims about as well as rewarding your Sim for remaining faithful). This ties in to above concerns about adding more consequences into the game, things that are more of a challenge that can throw a curveball at the player and make the overall 'story' more interesting. It would be interesting to have extra interactions and/or benefits to being in a long-term relationship, maybe?
EMOTION SYSTEM: I know 'the emotion system is broken!' is hardly an original opinion, but my specific issue with the system is:
- I feel like some Moodlets can be toned down in the sense of both 'strength' and duration, and others made longer or more 'powerful'.
- Other moodlets, for me, feel more like they'd make sense to only come up in the case of a sim having a specific Trait, or age bracket (kinda like how all Sims are scared of thunder, but I think it'd make more sense to leave that to Child/Toddler sims.)
As some examples: I feel as if the bereavement moodlet for family, friends and pets is a little too short and feel it could be extended, perhaps to 3 or 4 days. I also think that the Happy moodlet associated with 'well decorated' places could be altered, perhaps it could be something only Materialistic and Snob -trait sims get since it makes little sense to me that well-decorated places make absolutely everyone more happy. Maybe Creative sims might get an Inspired moodlet from a well decorated place? I also feel like too many situations give Happy moodlets and that some are extraneous- from being next to a fire, to the weather, so on and so forth. I wonder if these 'little pleasures' are better only being specific to certain traits also, like Cheerful.
TRAIT SYSTEM: Whilst Traits are good to allow some level of variety, I think they require some tweaking, and more depth in how they affect a Sim's personality, actions, and so on. For example, Loner sims get the Tense moodlet from being in crowds, but will still happily talk to anybody that walks up to them and stay in the conversation. Maybe it'd make sense to have such a Sim walk away from the conversation instead? Maybe the same with Paranoid sims. Maybe it's just my in-game experience, but Mean sims also seem very friendly to talk to others autonomously a lot of the time, and usually positively, when it'd make more sense for a Mean-trait sim, IMO, to either avoid the conversation or start with a Rude Introduction. I think if a Sim has Mean as a defined personality trait, they wouldn't be as polite to complete strangers as often.
they/them or she/her - remember to only support ethical CC creators! -
I am one of the female players who download a lot of CC and spend hours styling my sims, and to finally play the game for less than a hour. Why? Because the gameplay itself is boring. When I look at the mod releases and the comments from YouTubers who play the sims, I see a lot of people agree with that. I think that's a pity because the previous games were not like this, and the game has soo much potential. So much!
What makes the gameplay boring?
1. More challenge! It's not fun if you have to control everything. We want unexpected events, a sickness that doesn't go away easily, we want drama etc. Ofcourse some people like to do things they can't do in real life, but it's not fun if everything is too easy. It kills the joy. 2. Interesting npc's! When visiting places I would love to see simmers react differently than me. Now it's like everything is a repetition of animations. Everyone is moving, acting the same and when you talk to them you don't hear anything new or interesting. 3. Better relationship! As everyone is saying, everything is one-sided and they never interact randomly. Also, it would be nice to have more ways to show affection.
That's what I have in mind for now. But please give the game more drama, make it dark, make it spicy, make it weird, make it gross. Just do something to make it exciting. It kills the joy if you have to download mods to make the game 'a little bit' fun. And for me, I buy new expansion packs just because I hope it gets better. I think the game should be fun to play for people like me who don't always have the creativity to think of a story. The game itself should have the spice in it! I remember when I started playing the sims I love the chaos. Now that I am 25, I think it's too vanilla. That makes me feels like it's not for my age. While when I was younger, I loved the drama it made me feel like I needed to take care of something, I loved the challenge. Now it's too easy.
But I believe it can get better! Have a great day :)
As someone who spends more time in Build Mode rather than Live Mode I have a few suggestions on things not only for builders but some things that I would like to see to allow me to get into gameplay more as well as my comments on Build/Buy Mode and CAS.
Build and Buy:
1. Whilst the newer objects being added to the game are ridiculously cheap all of the older content and base game content is very much overpriced by comparison. I think there needs to be a shuffle of the pricing to make it more cohesive throughout the catalogue. 2. The ability to select the timber colour and fabric swatches separately on items. Does not have to be every item. Things such as beds, chairs and counters would benefit from this. 3. Overhaul on the sorting in some categories. For example when I click on kitchen clutter in the catalogue the set pieces from Get Famous appear.. 4. Ability to change the light colours in build mode without an active Sim on the lot.
CAS: 1. Ability to set more complex relationships - girlfriend, boyfriend, fiancé ect even some more spicy ones like 'mistress'. 2. Ability to save our own outfits in styled looks. 3. Ability to add a 'Story' to a premade Sim without having to create a new looking sim all over again!
Gameplay: 1. Ability to set lifespan for each age. Ill be honest I dislike children in real life and think they're worse in-game so having the ability to be able to set those stages as shorter would be great! 2. Story progression - I know this is highly requested but it would be great to see the townies fall in love, even move to other houses ect! 3. OWN A SECOND HOME - This I beg for. As a builder this would not only give me great pleasure to build more but it would give my sims something to spend their money on.. 4. Mortgages/Loans - having to make repayments or applying for a loan in game that is based on your current job so you can buy that dream house! 5. I just think the game is too easy as it is. There needs to be more challenge. I think things like mortgages, second homes/investments would make the gameplay more enticing for me.
Overall: 1. More desert inspired worlds like Oasis Springs. We are spoiled for choice with lush green worlds with classic styles I have rebuilt Oasis Springs into a Mid-Century Modern wonderland time and time again. We have so much inspired Build/Buy items that suit that style and I think its a shame that there's only one world it really fits. 2. Kits - great idea! I think that there really should be World Kits. Worlds only need to be the size of Forgotten Hollow but in different styles/Themes. This stops certain worlds being put in the bin because it doesn't make sense to any of the upcoming content and allows simmers to create the types of stories they want to play. It also gives an opportunity to expand on current world themes such as maybe more apartments in a new San Myshuno District or the beachfront of Del Sol Valley we all long for..
I really do love the game and the direction the team is taking the franchise. I really don't have criticisms of what has been done, I have opinions on things that can be done in future. World Kits and owning a second home are my top two.
Hello, I’ve been playing the sims for several years . I started with the sims . I love the sims 4 even if things are missing in the game .
First missing several dances: To be able to dance several dances like groove dance or classical dance, hip hop etc... and that the sims in love can dance a slow .
Second lack of interactions: Have a lot more love interactions . Also that we can do more with babies and that children have many interactions between them and with babies and toddlers . That we can find the fact of being a family and a couple . Let the children face more nonsense and not just put paint on the floor, put plenty of toys on the floor in their rooms and argue between brothers and sisters .
Third lack of new age groups: Add pre-teen who changes character and a little physically too . Adding babies who walk on all fours and make their parents run behind would be funny to see and face nonsense too. Then add an age bracket between toddlers and children , so a child who has to learn to go to school in the morning and then be away from mom and dad .
Fourth lack of new personalities: That we can more personalize them by adding astrological signs and adding features other than the three simple lines that we can put on or select if the sims is shy or not , if he can swim or not etc... it would allow to have much more difference between our sims .
Also adding hair to men’s bodies would be really nice because seeing men without body hair is not great.
That’s change would already be good and would make the game even more realistic and fun so that we can relax in front of . And thank you for creating this game. Sincere greeting .
Please give homes to NPC's so my sims' husband can cheat with her and cause drama. I would also love to see improved reactions and one-sides love, crushes, etc.
Sul Sul Simmers 💚💚 and the sims Gurus I have Different ideas with challenge 🤫💔 💚all Simmers they love playing with 100 babies challenge 👶👶👶👶👶👶 💔My idea the opposite male or female sim can they make love with 100 Different sims with out cheats and mods 🥀💔🌹 💖Making LOVE🚫 not 🚫MAKING 100 BABIES 👶 ⚠️Lost one love your lost your challenge⚠️
Wants and Fears. All of the Sims feel the same, and it's frankly boring to play the same character over and over and over again. Sure I can make them look different, and live in any kind of house you like. But they are all the same, cos they don't have anything driving them and helping us to inform the decisions we make for the Sims.
Interests. These were a staple in Sims 1 and 2 and should make a return, and impact wants, fears, and relationships.
Better, more challenging babies.
Harder skill gain (why can my sim with zero handiness successfully repair literally anything? Why? And why can my sim become a super parent after having just one kid?)
Better, more challenging teens. They need a complete overhaul.
Better personalities. Look into real life personality classification systems such as Myers Briggs and Ennegram, and bring some of that into the game.
Make the personalities matter so that some Sims simply CLASH and just do not get along. That makes it more rewarding when we do find someone who gets along with our aim, who they are compatible with.
Mary-Sue wouldn't give a flying fig about Daniel woohooing the maid, especially if the bedroom was nicely decorated. This has been an issue since this game launched and still hasn't been fixed.
Careers are too easy to max.
I humbly suggest that the entire team take a week to go back and play the Sims 1, and then the Sims 2. There, you will find what is missing.
Comments
Please note: I know that this is not an idea or request forum, so please note that all ideas under, or references to older games are there to give you a better picture of what I see as challenge in a game like the sims. I do understand that you can not please us all and that's ok. <3
LOT CHALLENGES
I love the recent addition of lot challenges and think this is a great addition to the game. I hope you'll keep adding to this as new content for the game is added. I'm imagining the following:
- bad neighborhood: chance of getting robbed?
- bad influence: Kids in this area have other interests than homework and will have a bad influence on your kids and their grades.
- UFO-sone: bigger risk of getting abducted by aliens
- bad air quality: risk of shortened life stages as young adult/adult/elder
- expensive neighborhood: all expenses doubles
TRAITS
I love the traits and would happily take more (but please, not the ones that just guide you through a pack). I also loved what you did with the traits overhaul and hope that the traits will have even more impact on our sims life in the future. Maybe trait could be inherited (like the sulani mana) in order to make it more challenging and not be able to always choose yourself.
LIKES AND DISLIKES
I love this addition and think the potential for challenge is huge. Please add all the missing activities, it would be great.
ATTRACTIONS
Attractions would add a lot of challenge to my gameplay because it would make the whole finding-a-partner thing harder. Maybe be potential husband doesn't like blondes? Or glasses? This could easily be added to the likes and dislikes in order to not need to make a new system for it.
WANTS AND FEARS
In Sims 2 we had wants and fears, which had a huge impact on my gameplay. Sometimes I played to please my sim, other times to do the opposite. By having wants and fears in-game you had more guidelines and therefore more challenges, even in relaxed play.
MEMORIES
In Sims 2 our sims had memories, either bad or good. This challenged us to keep our sims moods up, and to complete tasks as teaching our toddlers to walk, completing homework and promotions, and getting married. To make the first kiss a good memory was important and the same went for birthday parties.
BACK STORIES / LORE
Lore has been a long time request from many of us OG players and I'm happy you are taking a look into that now.
TEENS
Everybody knows about rebellious teens irl, but where are they in the sims 4? We want our teens to act out, sneak out of home, have home-alone parties, be brought home in a police car. Maybe the worst ones will be shipped off to military school? Or maybe you could reintroduce the private schools again? The effort i put into impressing the headmaster with my amazing dinners and entertainment back in the sims 2 will never be forgotten.
TODDLERS
Another life stage that potentially could add more challenge to the game. I love when they make a mess with paint, but I want more! I loved it when we had to teach them to walk, or when they could escape the cribs in the sims 2. I also loved that they used bottles, at least for a bit. In the sims 4 they seem way too independent.
ONE-SIDED RELATIONSHIPS
This could help with storytelling, with the lore, and add more challenge when building relationships in normal gameplay. Or maybe we could have long-term and short-term relations ship?
SURPRISING DEATHS
I love when my sims die unexpectedly, and I'm so happy that you keep adding new ways to die. Don't be afraid to add even more and make it more random. If my sims die by thunder during a family outing it really adds to the story, and ads challenge because my family all of a sudden just have one parent and in other words just one income.
SKILL BUILDING:
Right now, my sims gain its first skillbar in any skill the moment they start any activity. I think thats too easy. It should start on cero, and the sim should have to work to even get the first skill point.
LIFE CRISES
I know mental illness is something many people don't want in a sims game, I totally understand why. Still, I think that things like the social bunny, the shrink, the flour sack baby, and the imaginary friend all added to the feeling that your sims had hit rock bottom. It was a nice way of depicting something many of us have to go through without making it too realistic and challenges you to get your sim back on the right track
CHAOS
To sum up, I think I can say that I miss a bit of the chaos that I loved in sims 2.
Thank you <3
At the moment all sims' relationship bars increase and decrease at equal rates.
Thank you.
Thank you for the chance to offer feedback!
A example of small unexpected events could be burglers, sims get sick(I know we already have this but it doesn't happen as often as I would like), acne(teens get it randomly and feel embarrassed instead of just puttingit on in cas), getting arrested breaking curfew or vandalism, etc
Bigger unexpected events could be meteors killing your sim, losing your job from picking the wrong option during a random work event, affairs, job relocation, significant other breaking up with you, etc.
That way simmers who want challenge can have as much as they want and simmers who don't don't have to deal with it
Sims team, you are all people who are from a family, who may have your own family or crowd of people in your lives, your own stories.
Improving relationships (family, romantic, between neighbors).
I would like to see FAVORITES & DISLIKES being fully fleshed out / expanded:
Improved experience: 💖 the Favorites & Dislikes system, let it shine! ✨
LIFE STRUGGLES PACK
1. Reworking Aspirations
First of all, aspirations are long-term goals that my sim should be working on in their entire lifetime. Right now, aspirations feel like a tutorial, and are too easy. I love how Lifetime Wants in The Sims™ 2 and Lifetime Wishes worked in The Sims™ 3. I would like Aspirations to be similar to those (like reach the top of
a career)
2. Updating the Whim System
Whims are short-term goals that are easily achievable and guide a sim's life. Unfortunately, Whims weren't updated since The Sims™4 Seasons. I would like if every pack would add new whims. This is essential to people who are playing whims-based.
3. Fixing the Mood System
The mood system is currently broken. My sim's parent died in the morning, but all of a sudden they forgot about the death of their loved one. They are happy because they got a promotion at work and got a new friend. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible, especially that this is a new addition to The Sims™ 4, that we never saw in the previous games.
4. Personality
Every sim should feel individual.
5. Careers
Careers are too easy. Not every sim should reach the top of their careers, just like in real life.
Degrees should be needed to progress in careers. Only the hardest working sims should reach the top.
6. Friendships and Dating
Making friends is way too easy.
2. that there was more traits and aspirations and that a sims could have more then 3 like in the sims 3 and that they actually effected the sims and the gameplay.
3. have more deaths or at least a bit more difficult to die.
4. harder relationship gain like in past sims games also an attraction system with turn on and offs also online dating and friendships.
CAS:
Gameplay:
Overall:
Thank you guys!

First missing several dances:
To be able to dance several dances like groove dance or classical dance, hip hop etc... and that the sims in love can dance a slow .
Second lack of interactions:
Have a lot more love interactions .
Also that we can do more with babies and that children have many interactions between them and with babies and toddlers .
That we can find the fact of being a family and a couple . Let the children face more nonsense and not just put paint on the floor, put plenty of toys on the floor in their rooms and argue between brothers and sisters .
Third lack of new age groups:
Add pre-teen who changes character and a little physically too . Adding babies who walk on all fours and make their parents run behind would be funny to see and face nonsense too. Then add an age bracket between toddlers and children , so a child who has to learn to go to school in the morning and then be away from mom and dad .
Fourth lack of new personalities:
That we can more personalize them by adding astrological signs and adding features other than the three simple lines that we can put on or select if the sims is shy or not , if he can swim or not etc... it would allow to have much more difference between our sims .
Also adding hair to men’s bodies would be really nice because seeing men without body hair is not great.
That’s change would already be good and would make the game even more realistic and fun so that we can relax in front of . And thank you for creating this game.
Sincere greeting .
