How to remove glitched item from Sim's inventory?

My Sim did a bunch of dumpster diving and found many interesting treasures. Unfortunately, one of them is apparently glitched. The item is a plant that went into the Sim's inventory (not the household inventory). When I hover over it or click on it, I don't get any information on the plant. I can't drag it out of the inventory. When I ask my Sim to place it in the world, he pulls it out, but acts like there's a routing error and puts it back in his inventory. I can't sell it from his inventory either. Is there any way to get rid of it or fix it?

You could try turning on multi-select and then selecting that single item to "sell". Sometimes that works for stuck things in inventory (for me, anyway), sometimes not. That is, you most likely won't get any actual funds, but it might get rid of the item.

Can you recycle it from his inventory?

I can confirm multi-select works for me as well.

If nothing else helps, you could try recycling the mystery plant at the home recycler.
