Does the Space heater function like a thermostat?

Does the space heater from SE work like the Thermostats from Seasons?

Building a mountain house and need to know.

I have never used it, but I would think it works similar to a fireplace - only affects the room it is in and not the whole house.

Every time I've used it it's caused fires, so I avoid it. I think I've kept it as a decorative item but nothing else. Thermostats work much better in my opinion.

You can upgrade them so they aren't a fire hazard.

I had to place two to heat the whole room, but on the upside they can get moved via lifedrag. Also brought one with me up Mt. Komorebi one time... really useful little things.
