I did a Google search and couldn't find anything on triggering it. It does appear the long lost relative shows as a cousin in the sim profile.
I've read about that bit but so far i'm yet to experience it. I even invited my sim self's parents over for a planned stay over and they didn't bring anyone with them.
Is it possible for different households in the same save to have different holidays? For example, if you want Family A to celebrate Winterfest/Christmas but Family B to be Jewish and celebrate Hanukah, can you do that without making either holiday take over for the entire save? Or if you want a particular couple to celebrate their anniversary or something?
That is an interesting question. Have you gone into each household in question and checked what's on their calendar? I think it might be lot-specific, but don't quote me. I do know I have to add stuff for each household. Make a back up of your save and give it a try.
I haven't actually tried it, just got curious if it was an option. But I could try doing it with something very basic and just remove/not repeat it if it doesn't work. Just make a test holiday, set one or two traditions, look, remove.
I'm pretty sure holidays are for all households in a save.
Bummer. Thanks, though.
Also, is it possible for Sims to overtime develop their romantic and woohoo interests and land on an identity through play or do you have to set it or leave them bi/pan by default? Just curious. Not a major thing, but I think it could be a fun detail if my Sims could figure out such a thing like they do likes and dislikes and such.
Has anyone here ever had a teen sim change their looks completely and seemingly out of nowhere? My teen sim had a very distinct nose and eyes. Last time I played I went into CAS to look at his sibling and coincidentally noticed that his nose changed drastically, that his eyes changed shape and size ans that he looks very different to how he used to. I'm assuming this is a bug and not a feature, but I'm still unsure. I've never seen something like this happen before.
Hi again. I've been watching youtube videos about disabling packs because I'd like to disable my seasons pack.
I tried to do it today using James Turner's website to disable it.
It actually worked but I got a popup warning when I restarted the game, saying the seasons pack was required and if I wanted to play with seasons missing anyway, it could corrupt the game.
People on youtube say they love being able to turn off packs and do it all the time. I was too afraid after that warning, but should I just relax and do it or not? What do you think?
Thank you for your help.
Why don't you just go into Options in game and turn off rain and snow? That way the pack is still available for the objects in use and I have yet to get any kind of warning. I turned off rain, because it generally was pouring nearly every day whether I was in Del Sol Valley or HoB. Frustrating as all get out.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have the rain and snow turned off.
My issue is that you can't use the advance clock cheat while seasons is activated.
I'd like to use the clock cheat because I use a lot of sim poses for screenshots and need to better control the time of day.
So to all of you who regularly disable your selected packs temporarily, have you encountered any problems in your game after doing so?
One last thing... I'm a builder only. I don't play the actual game, so if disabling the seasons pack only causes minor issues like, canceling Christmas for my sims, that would be fine with me.
But if it negatively effects the buy/build mode, that would be a deal breaker.
Your thoughts? Thanks again!
It does, cause it will remove everything from that pack.
Thank you. Yes, I was aware I'd lose the season's buy/build objects. I was just worried it would cause bugs and glitches in the buy/build mode.
I went ahead and disabled seasons yesterday and the clock advance cheat still wouldn't work.
I'm having major regrets for buying seasons to begin with

The holidays the game generates are likely on all lots in a save. But, if you create holidays in one household, I'm uncertain that translates to the other households in the same save. At least, they don't appear on the calendar.
How do you trigger the 'long lost cousin' event from Growing Together? I have had my sims research genealogy via the computer and so far no event has triggered.
You can research genealogy on the computers now? Oh, that is awesome.
How far back and long does the game save members of a family tree? I'm tracking it elsewhere, so if it gets culled it's not the end of the world, but I'm curious.
That's an interesting question. I have no idea. I did make sure my Sims each had parents in the game, so at least when they get married they have in-laws, you know? As for how far back the tree keeps this information, that's to answered by others who know far more than me. I'm curious, too.

All holidays are for all households. I wish we could set it individually though, that's a big part of living in a diverse community.

Until they get culled. If you add sims to My Households in the household manager, they won't get culled. Sims that your played sims have significant relationships with are less likely to get culled. For ghosts with urns/tombstones available, "strengthen connection to the physical world" whenever it's a possibility will keep them from being culled.

That's what the "exploring" flag is for. If they are exploring, they develop their interests over time through gameplay. If they are not exploring, they don't change their interests and will reject overtures by sims whose gender they aren't interested in.

So a Sim with the exploring flag might land on just liking women or just liking men? That's cool and does track with how the game seems to have decided my Sim Nicolette would be lesbian as when I played other households she'd often call them asking about crushes and it was always a woman. I haven't checked her preferences, though. I oughta.
Oh my word. I didn't watch the video, but the guy reminds me of the principal we had the year I graduated. He all but ruined our ceremony. His rules meant we weren't allowed to throw our caps into the air at the end. Why not? Yeah. I graduated fifty years ago.
Stupid question. Is there a requirement for my sims to retire? Or did they get rid of that option with Growing Together?
I don't play with elders like ever but i know one of my sims a long time ago had the option to retire but I cant find it now

As far as I know, it's still there. It should be under the careers option on the phone. You may have to scroll down a bit.
Guess I shouldve been clearer lol, theyre not an elder sim. theyre a young adult so when i played with a different sim awhile back (like a year maybe) I saw an option to retire but i dont remember if they were young adult or adult, I just remember that they were not an elder cause I rarely (if i ever) play with elders
So I guess i shouldve asked if young adults can retire
My task for today is to visit all my worlds and make a list of existing community lots. With so many worlds now I sometimes forget about some of them. Then I'm headed to the Gallery to search for some new venues to fill up some of my empty lots.

How is the exploring tag switched on for non-played sims? All the sims mine meet have exploration set to off, so I don't see that part of the game. Of course, I have two mods that also play with orientation, so it's still part of my gameplay regardless.
@Smellincoffee I have noticed that for the majority of sims I meet, they volunteer "I'm still exploring" when asked about romantic orientation. But not all.
I'm not sure what might affect the sexual orientation/exploring of newly generated sims, but it does seem that not everyone has the same experience.

One of the other mods I have may change that, then, to lessen conflicts. Thanks!

Totally need a "retro-retro" High School Years mod. Heh heh!
never mind
I'm sure one probably exists, if you look hard enough. It seems there is a mod for everything for this game.
I deleted that video on my original post.
It's horrible, but amusing.
Here it is in 'spoiler'
I forgot all about that video, not the song, just the video.
