Falconcrest

A new world from FLSTRider coming soon..........

It has been well over three years since I built a world for the Sims 3 and after some thought I have decided to try my hand at CAW once again. After reloading both the Sims 3 and CAW to my computer I realized that all my height maps, old worlds textures and third party CC was gone so I have to return to the basics. This new world will be EA content only all stuff and expansion packs no third party or store content. Eventually as I rediscover the old CC I had and re-download my store content I may once again attempt to build Stormwind and Elwynn Forest. For now, however it is time to relearn CAW and go back to the fundamentals so welcome to......Falconcrest

    Unreal Engine version:

    As I build this world I am also creating another version of Falconcrest in Unreal Engine. I am using the same height maps for each project and I thought I would add a couple of images to show everyone the progress (no lighting or other visual effects have been done yet)........

    I’m sorry to hear about the issues that you just had, however I’m glad you’re making a CC free world. You really don’t need that and CC can cause a lot problems.

    @Damienf519 CC worlds are not so bad, had two and worked fine but right now I just need to relearn how to use CAW before I get back into building those

    Just a little progress I will be uploading in-game pics once the world is a little more complete

    @flstrider that looks really good so far, but it could use some dirt, rock or sand terrain paint around the water edges

    @Damienf519 well like I said above the picture this was just a LITTLE progress, I never work on the waterline until the general layout of the area is complete. Once I finalize the terrain sculpting I can then determine which type of paint to use.

    Have not been able to work on the world much this week but did get two of the 9 remaining lots finished in the seaport one townhouse and a park

    There are a couple of lots left open in the Seaport area for others to play around with (not standard size lots) To be honest I could not think of what to put there. So now I am going to get started on the Ren Fest area which will serve as my "supernatural" area and will contain a couple of tombs for others to explore

    That's an interesting layout. Interesting concept of creating two worlds at once. How is the Unreal Engine? I guess it's not as limited as CAW?

    @VincentT The Unreal Engine is a complete suite of development tools to create a high-quality game across PC, console, mobile, VR, and AR platforms. CAW on the other hand is a design tool to augment an existing game. There is a large learning curve with Unreal and so far has been a bit tough for me since I have no real computer tech experience. I am still learning the engine but it has been fun so far

    shells nearly complete in the supernatural area. one 40x40 will be left open for those who have the "Duke of Bows" store lot. Still need to create the "town square lot (empty lot furthest away in picture) and another community lot (still deciding what will be there). bottom open lot will be for the graveyard (Grims lot will fit here)

    This world is looking better and better. Is there going to be a festival lot? I hope there is going to be one.

    Spent today finishing up the seaport by adding addresses, street lights, yield signs (wish EA would have made stop signs a part of an expansion pack instead of needing to find a CC one) traffic signals and some spawners. Also started to work on the main island, reworking some areas. These are in-game pics:

    @flstrider - Looking forward to seeing this world and playing in it. Amazing how much work has been accomplished on this. I'm also loving the build in the Unreal Engine as well. The lighting in that and the realistic shading and water effects of Unreal are incredible.

    Come to think of it, I hope Falconcrest doesn't end up being too laggy. There are lot of lots that are very close together. Most of them are small, but that can still cause severe lag.
