My Sim had the whim to finish reading a book. So, I had him take out one from the bookcase. "Love in the Time of Sandwiches". This was a mistake, because although he appeared to be done in the bathroom, evidently, he was not. He walked back in (and I thought he was going to multi-task, read while doing his business). Nope, he flushed the toilet and the book isn't anywhere. I checked his inventory and no, it's not there. I can only conclude he deemed it a distasteful piece of waste material and did the only logical thing and gave it the deep plunge. LOL

That's hilarious. Have you put the walls up to make sure it's not on a shelf? Maybe outside? Also, check to make sure you don't have any filters set in his inventory. I'm 100% sure that's not supposed to happen.

Well, all I can say to that is Joey is a bonifide genius. He may have a reason behind it's mysterious disappearance.

I play with only the cutout wall. The only place I found a copy of the same title, oddly enough, was at the medical clinic. Joey hadn't been there recently, though. LOL

Sometimes if a Sim gets up to do something else they will "forget" to put the book up and instead walk around with it.. and it can prevent them from doing certain action because they need both hands for said action. This can happen with any object a sim can hold though(yes even toddlers, I've had that happen..), it just commonly happens with books.

I don't think his priest would approve … Besides he's on track to becoming a physician. They can apply a certain form of magic, right?

I've had a Sim doing her college homework, just to have it disappear when she got up (I'm not talking about the glitch where Sims put in on the ground and are still "holding" it in their hands). Going back into the save the next time, I will find it floating in the air somewhere, after I've bought another book for her. I bring the hammer down on the original homework at that point.
Maybe it's happening to you too?

Have you checked the family inventory? I find stuff there, especially books that are not in the bookshelf.

Just for the record, I did go through the family inventory — for an entirely different reason. However, the book wasn't there. I believe he flushed it. LOL Must have been one his teacher required him to read, or something. Or, it was just that bad.

This feature is part of a set of game mechanics we can’t see.

He did flush it. Some Sims are kind enough to share “Love in the Time of Sandwiches” with the sewer rats. It’s a best seller down there. The devs just forgot to add the buffs, but that’s basically what happened. 😉

My sims haven't ever lost at book (that I know of...hmmm) but homework? Man, that stuff vanishes all the time. I have had to buy new homework books several times for different sims. Then, a sim day or two later, it will show up, like magic, right on the floor. I wonder if other sims have been stealing my sims homework. University kids are the worst. I have learned to watch them closely and check their inventories constantly.

they do sometimes end up with two or more copies of the same book in their inventories, though. My sims are wierd.
