Since March 23 Patch Sims keep cooking food but not eating it. Plants growing and looking weird too.

Hey, fellow Simmers:

I've noticed since the most recent patch of (March 23, 2021), when hungry, my sims cook food but won't eat what they made during game play. Instead, they go on to cook more and more food with dishes of food everywhere, lol. Sometimes they move on to something else and then, appear to starve. When I don't play and come back to visit a household, there are now dishes everywhere. The sims could have at least put them away.... :D

As far as the plants go, my sims plants now always look dried out and will only occasionally still harvest as normal. However, they still look awful even at harvest. Like beige-y or ashy olive color to the leaves. It doesn't seem to matter if my sims water them or not. They just look bad. Whereas, they never did that before this recent patch.

Has anyone else noticed these issues?? I don't have any mods, btw.

Yes, I have had that for a while in my game.

The food bug is reported here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Sims-cook-but-don-t-autonomously-eat-cook-more-eat-quick/td-p/9724949 littlemssam have made a mod called prefer leftovers that could maybe help.

When it comes to the plants I'm not sure what exactly the bug is, my plants revert to dirt piles https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-In-Season-Plants-revert-to-dirt-piles-Patch-1-68/td-p/9726151 but I have seen them turn into green clouds as well https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Plants-playing-dead-emitting-green-cloud/td-p/9751998

Yes, I did notice this about the plants. They are also, sometimes, sinking back from fully grown trees, to mounds in the grass. As for the cooking thing. In my TEST save this is happening a lot. I saw the mom cooking, noticed she was hungry, but never saw her eat anything. Sometimes the food will be left on the island counter, but I found another place they were stashing all of that food. :open_mouth:

As you can see, some of it has gone bad.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm seeing along with the plant mounds. I will make a complaint about it on EA help board and maybe if enough people make them aware of it, it will promptly fixed. At least, I hope. Because I'm getting tired of my Sims spending all their time cleaning up those dishes instead of going off on some adventure, lol.

Thanks for the board links so I don't have to fill out a whole new complaint. Guess we'll have to wait til the next patch to see if they fix this. Here's to crossing my fingers they do.

My sims will go out of their way to make a family meal and then go and eat chips. I have a family of 8 adults, so you can imagine how much food gets cooked. And the caldron is the worst. My sims are constantly making Mac and cheese. I had to get rid of the their grill because one of them would be using the grill, the other the stove and the next one on the caldron, all at the same time. I have one that loves to make drinks all day lol.

I've actually been considering getting rid of the stove, fridge and grill in my larger house holds and just keeping a cauldron. They can make mac & cheese for breakfast and it will sit there all day. It's there whenever they're hungry and I don't think it ever goes bad sitting in the cauldron. At least till they fix this darn bug.

I always try to add a pantry to lock up the ice cream and popcorn makers. Now I'm doing the same for my kitchens that aren't open concept. I add a door and only the cooking sims have access. I really don't like to micromanage this much so I hope we get a fix soon...and I hope that fix involves sims going for leftovers first before cooking a new meal.

LittleMsSam has a mod I think in Random Bug fixes, that makes sims prefer leftovers which avoids this issue
with cooking stuff and not eating it
And I've also noticed the plant issues, some disappearing, others looking dry and dead when in season in 2 different saves in different worlds

@MsKatieRose for the plants, try moving them into household inventory and then back into the ground again. That solves the dirt pile and other plant glitches for me most of the time.

Not a bad idea for those ice cream machines and popcorn! Because it is irritating when sims keep making sorbet or bowls of popcorn when they're hungry and you want them to eat a regular meal.

As for the kitchen, that could be a little tricky for the builds that don't feature the open concept as you said. But it could help with the ones where a door won't mess up the look of the decor. At least, until EA fix this bug. Thx

I'll try it. Hopefully, it will help the appearance of the plants too.

Also, I always just give my sims the "FreshChef" trait. So even if they have all this food laying around, it won't ever go bad. Just take up a lot of space.

Ughh...I hate when they start eating those chips and there's a big meal sitting out or they got plenty of leftovers, lol.

Yup, every once in a while I'll catch a sim repeatedly cooking. I usually just click on a dish and have them eat it and they stop.

Except I and others didn't have that issue before the patch though and in my game, it's happening all the time. Not once in a while. Hence the post, lol.

I have an "apartment" style on a regular lot with an outdoor grilling area. The picnic tables are covered in spoiled food. Every single slot. They just keep making food over and over. I'm so sick of this bug.

My Sims did this occasionally before the 3/23 patch, but now it's a frequent thing. And it's also really annoying if the Sim I'm playing has their lover (who doesn't live with them) over. Because he/she will cook endless plates of food, and then sit down with a bowl of cereal or something.

This is what my sim caught Karlie Keye doing behind my sim's house:

    04-03-21_11-15-25%C2%A0AM.png?dl=0

She sat at the table to chat but then Karlie complained she was starving and disappeared off, presumably to get some food... the mind boggles :D

And, yes, my plants are also looking dried out and grey, even after my gardener waters them.

The game has turned into a weird post-apocalyptic state, sims are starving and plants are dying. :#

Lol, these pics are both funny and frustrating, Yep, that's what I'm seeing and also on counters inside the house. And with the plants, I tried to water them too, but still the same and so ugly.

Right, post-apocalyptic state and the fact, that we have to watch the sim starve because they simply won't eat the food or eat something lightweight like cereal or chips is also frustrating. Kind of messes up the fun of EA adding so many new dishes in recent months, lol.

I was just playing with the Goths and Cassandra made mac for everyone, Bella and Alex ate but Mortimer decided to make five salads before I noticed he was making them! He would make one, do the "point to mouth because I'm hungry" animation and go make another salad without looking at the one he just made. This isn't the first time, I feel like this bug has been here for a while and they just haven't payed attention to it :/

My sims seem to be cooking and eating what they cook. However, if I don't have autonomy shut off, the sims will not finish cooking before they go to check the garden. This only seems to be happening in one household though. Weird. I use mods so I don't know if I can blame EA for this one.
The Sims is NOT a game, it's a lifestyle choice.

My Plumbob is GREEN today :D

I have both bugs and they're really annoying, good thing that I fixed the leftovers bug with LittleMssam mod or it would me having drived up the walls.
