I like the look of both the environment and the characters. They are stylized and will age well. I also like cutting-edge realistic graphics. inZOI is appealing to me, at least for now.
I'm not a fan of whatever you would call vanilla Sims 3.
Agree with you. Those 'people' clash horribly with the rest of it. It's like putting 1990s games characters (remember those? revolutionary back then, but now...) into current era worlds.
I thought I was the only one who wasn't impressed by the style of the "Parafolk".
There are probably more than we think. They might have worked 10 years ago, but overall graphics quality has improved enormously the past few years. Not only is the quality less than stunning but the art styles of them and their environment are completely different. A major no-no according to artist friends.
Yes, I plan on getting Paralives as soon as it's released (possible 2021)
So many items not sure which I like best it's between the workout bench the palm tree or black ceiling fan looks like they had a very busy year. The more clutter and objects the better like to see them getting some modern style in there.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"
A well-received tweet. This was posted almost simultaneously with the official roadmap announcement on The Sims Twitter account...and has more likes.
Lol, I never would have thought to compare. 😄 Anyway, there's currently a difference of about 160. Not a particularly significant difference.
Paralives is an account with 177K followers vs the Sims official account with 2.6M followers. The engagement is outsized in that context; the fact that the Paralives tweet has more emphasizes the enthusiasm.
I find it interesting to monitor the socials to see what is and isn't resonating with people.
I don't know, I love Maxis, but I don't want a TS5 MMO and might have to jump ship and go with Steam's game.
I figure there might be a question in my mind about what kind of modding support will be available in each case, and that will probably sway my decision. Or which direction the creators that I watch end up going since that really enhances my experience of the game.

This is what their website says about modding.
We created in-game modding tools that we, the developers, use to integrate all our content (clothes, furniture, interactions, etc) and define all the detailed and various game parameters under the hood. Modders will be able to do all that as well upon the release of the game and share their creations with the community.

You might want to hold your pants on a bit longer. They haven't shown any look at live mode yet but its coming soon. They only started work in either Sept or October 2024 for how jobs and school would work.

@Horrorgirl6 having them be with a company would be a bad move because it means we would get a buggy mess like Sims 4. They should take as much time as they need in making a game.
The game will release when the game is released (Early Access and not Early Access)

I think you mean Sept/October of 2023 they showed how jobs/school work.
Based on patreon post titles, which are public knowledge that we can share, they have revealed:
I won't be purchasing Paralives due to two things. 1) The characters have changed dramatically since their first reveal, and for me, not for the better. The environment still looks great, but the characters now look more like paper doll cut-outs than someone out of a graphic novel, and I hate it.
2) I just found out that they are basically making the initial world like Sims 4 with lots that cannot be moved or edited in a town editor. I have put up with that nonsense in Sims 4 for a decade. I'm not paying for a new game to experience the same limitations again.

What are you talking about the game is open world?

The game is open world, but you won't be able to place custom lot sizes throughout the world like you can in the Sims 2 or Sims 3 in the initial release of early access. Instead it sounds like it will work like the Sims 4 with you being able to only build and delete buildings on pre placed lots. And from what Alex said in their November 3, 2023 dev chat, you won't even be able to change the sizes for these pre placed lots.
Sounds like Sims 4 all over again to me, and it's a huge disappointment since they showed off being able to edit lot sizes on the fly in one of their first videos and used that to hype everyone up. I get they are a small team, but I'm not paying for a limited game in regards to lot placement again even if they promise to rectify it before full release.

It sounds like there saying in early acess you can't do that. Not that you won't be able too down the road.I understand it's dissapointing, but it's not the same as sims 4.Your not paying for a limited game.Your paying for a game that's being build.

It's still a no for me. The structure of a world is a core feature for a game, and I do not trust that it will magically be fixed sometimes during early access. Maybe EA has made me cynical, haha.
But if the groundwork isn't there in early access then I don't trust that it will be added in. Hopefully I'm wrong, but EA is a huge company and couldn't even add it in after the fact. So I seriously doubt a small indie company can. I hope I'm proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think that's right. No official announcement, but as a patron, 2025 feels appropriate for all the new developments they have shared.
Don't have the slightest idea what the timeline is for Project Rene.
