I don't know, I love Maxis, but I don't want a TS5 MMO and might have to jump ship and go with Steam's game.

I won't lie, the building aspect of Paralives does intrigue me.

What they work on is very impressive, it is why I knew I would keep up with what they might do next or show next, but as time goes by I really want to see some live animations once they get around to finishing at least something. So far, very, very, very few updates about that.

If you are a patron, they have released an exclusive sneak peek on live animations which is awesome! The paras with each update are looking better and better.

Is it recent, because I must have missed it.

Yes they released it early morning yesterday. It should’ve sent to your email to notify you.

Thank you! I will check it out! Hopefully, it will make me hopeful again. :)

ETA: Ok, wow! I can't wait for them to share this video with the public! Those are some smooth animations which is my favorite thing about how games are built. I hope everyone over there votes to see more animations as they progress, we need to see more! :D

I can’t wait to see more updates about the game! I’m going to assume they’ll show some live gameplay in a month or so. Based on what they have done so far. So ready for this game to come out!

Yes, I plan on getting Paralives as soon as it's released (possible 2021)
@Cinebar and @SimplyBrea next time could you take that conversation to PM? Since non-paterons aren't suppose to know about it yet.

But they didn't actually reveal anything. I'm not a patreon. I don't know anymore than I did before besides they are working on "animations"
Paetron or not we all expect at some point they are going to work on animations. Don't see how that's revealing anything.....

Yes. I don't know any more than I did before they started their conversation; except that there's apparently a video somewhere that might show some additional animations, sometime. I don't think that counts as something that warrants a Patreon spoiler tag.

I just want a new sim-like game that I can sit down and enjoy, without stressing out over it more than before I booted it up. None of the conversation so far has told me anything of the sort about either game, so I still live in ignorance even after their conversations.

Except it's on pateron and it's locked to non-pateron. And Non-paterons haven't see anything except June 10th building videe. It's been over month since non-paterons have seen anything. So I still think that they should have taken that conversation to PM instead of mentioning it on here. because we don't know how long it will be for non-paterons because it been a long time since non-paterons have seen anything

We didn't reveal anything other than what is on their timeline on their site of what they are working on. Trust me, patrons haven't seen anymore than you have which was the build mode trailer and some improvements to characters' movements. We were told there will be more reveals about the things listed in their time line but that will probably be months from now. But here is the rub, you have seen from Paralives more than you have seen or heard from Maxis so, that's why this thread exist, because we can only go by CEO's and others statements about the next triple A game from Maxis and guess and speculate what it will be like due to what type of positions they requested be filled when Paralives are at least sharing some info with the public every few months or so. We aren't leaking anything everything is on their progression list of what they are working on that anyone can see on their site. There are no other characters other than the ones you have seen that were revealed to the public in the loft trailer and the Sebastan trailer, So no we haven't leaked anything because you have seen how they move in those trailers. The lists of what they have done and are planning to do is on their site.
Plans are great but most people to stay engaged want to see the work revealed or may stop supporting them. That's been said since the day I started this thread because they aren't Maxis/EA but being paid by the public to build a game. And I haven't said anymore than a gamechanger on Youtube has said. Oooh, you gonna love it, etc. (If it all pans out).

There is absolutely nothing new other than the buildmode trailers you/we have all seen. Plans don't reflect actual finished work and therefore nothing has been leaked. Take this to heart, what is said today or done today is never actually in a game later so many times it's not even funny. So, any prototype of a game is never the game, rarely. Developers can work on something today and change it tomorrow so I'm sorry but saying something was smooth doesn't mean a thing because it was just technical junk speech. ETA: You and the public have seen their two characters in their trailers months and months ago improvements to characters is on their list to do on their site. Nothing has been revealed or even shown concerning any of that or for sure, absolutely going to be or in the game because the game is still a work in progress for many more years.

I want people to understand Pre Alpha is not a game at all. When something moves over to Alpha then people can worry about leaks and or things that might have made it into gameplay and an actual game. There is no gameplay nor even a game in pre alpha at all. Someone can show us a curved wall and or a building design mechanic but that doesn't mean it will be there two years from now. We all need to realize this game is not even a game, yet. So, leaking is a bit much. :)

Non-patrons can see the titles of locked content. So they know that a post with that subject exists, but not the content

    I plan to buy both.
I don't have confidence in EAxis to make the Sims 5 good....sorry for being a Debbie Downer, but I think there are institutional problems within EAxis that will prevent The Sims 5 from looking like TS2. And Will Wright's magic touch is gone.

I will still try TS5 though.

EA is very weak when it comes to keeping their online games clean and hack-free. Did you know that one of their online games got hacked to the point that it's unplayable? And they still keep selling it! The video below explains about Titanfall, how a player was rejected and became the game's #1 nemesis. He became a hacker and was so successful at it that no one can get into any online game and is now hacking the next iteration, Titanfall 2, which is also becoming difficult to enter online as well. And did you know that the Titanfall fans have gotten so desperate that some of the actually hacked Apex Legends on July 4th? Oh and did I mention that the game studio that made it, Respawn (yes the same devs for Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order) have not done much to fix Titanfall & 2? They say they have 1 or 2 people working on it, but if they have, the hacker just hacks it again.

So, it just seems very easy to me for hackers to come in and destroy an EA online game! So on top of all the microtransactions, we would have to worry about hackers as well!

@ClarionOfJoy ohh i know haha most EA games are one big mess filled with bugs, glitches and they are a major target of hackers these days. mostly due to executives rushing dev studios to deliver games asap for fast cash. but yes they aren't very popular atm due to their aggressive love for free to play mobile casino err game designs, their 🐸🐸🐸🐸 PR statements like suprise mechanics and sense of pride and accomplishment ( a statement that has earned a guiness record for most downvoited comment ever onn reddit) and just the utter unethical greed of their executives by trying to justify themselves selling gambling to children. as far as i care EA deserves all the critcism they get. haha you watch YongYeah too? how amusing :)

I like how Yong can compile a whole bunch of articles and social media posts together into a comprehensive report on a subject! The only thing is, he doesn't do his own research on the topics themselves and allows the articles and posts he's collected to color his opinion on the subject.

For example, he did a video on Epic losing a lot of money earlier this year and was poo-pooing Epic, because that is what the articles and social media posts were about. If Yong understood the nature of certain businesses though, he would have recognized that in order for certain businesses to grow, they go into an investment phase where they buy certain resources to grow the business. So that's what Epic was doing, NOT losing money as if they couldn't sell products (Epic did earn money - customers made purchases as Epic hoped - it's just that they were investing more).

Another good example of a company in the investment phase was Amazon when they were also starting out. Amazon was actually "in the red" for a good number of their early years before they starting turning a profit because they were buying up resources or starting up other departments (they started in books and then branched out into other products and are now a merchandise giant).

I hope Epic succeeds. I really want Steam to have true competition because this benefits game devs (lowers the cut they have to give to the store selling their games) and customers (better prices - I was able to get some great games from Epic that had lower prices then Steam).

Other than that, I like Yong's presentation! He's got a good voice too - I hope he's able to get work as a voice actor like he wants!

Not sure I would be looking to invest in a subscription online mmo, I was a beta tester for the original Sims Online back in the day and honestly, having gone through the bugs that were never fixed until finally we were abandoned and the game closed down. I just don't see this going any other way

don't! especially not when EA is involved. they just are looking for a way to put yet another disgusting F2P mobile game economy into the sims for more money. their greed knows no bounds and this greed of theirs has already utterly ruined other once great titles like dungeon keeper and command and conquer by turning them into predatory cash grabs full of dirty free to play monetization scemes and deliberately ruining the whole experience to try and manipulate peoplke into spending more money. and yes! many companies do this nowadays, but EA is still the most notorious and most hated company of the entire bunch, and they deserved every bad look they got so far!!

If TS 5 is offline i do not really care what people do, but if it IS an online MMO we have to make s stand and boycot it or we might be in for the inevitable death of this series just to line the pockets of immorally greedy executives! i absolutely refuse to have to pay a subscription fee just to play a game i paid full price for. i truly despise this greedy World of Warcraft business model!

I think some people want a multiplayer and would be willing to pay $80 for the game then be charged a monthly fee and fees/microtransactions for every new experience or content. I can't even relate to that type of player. I can't even relate to players who willing pay EA Play fees every month and having all their gameplay saved to the cloud. It's hard enough for me to deal with just downloading a game and hoping a company won't close down it's servers or no longer support a game they discontinued. Sure, you can redownload one like that, but it won't work and you are just stuck with a game they won't help fix. I still prefer discs in my hands. I like control, others don't care to throw away control. I have downloaded lots of games and played but I feel I have no control over my pc when I have done that or really have any real product.

Updating the thread as I said I would, this past week no new info about Paralives. Nothing to even speculate about. The update for patrons had no real info to confirm, again. Sad.

i can assure you nobody likes the world of warcraft pay to play subscription model! problem is, more and more greedy companies, EA leading the charge together with their greedy friends at activision-blizzard, are making this outright greedy business model the new normal. this is why i just stick to old games nowadays. if TS 5 will be an MMO or have a mobile F2P economy in it as in microtransactions that paywalls content i paid for when buying the game for full price i will not bother with it, simple as that! then i'll just stick to TS 3 and 4

You know when people don't like something, they stop doing it. People can blame 'greedy' companies but it's the consumer that accepts the terms of how they use a product and what they are willing to pay. If nobody likes the pay systems of MMOs and or F2Ps they would stop using them. It doesn't matter if people say oh, but they are the only way I can play a game I love...well then, it's the consumer who fuels the greed and goes along with it. People must stop blaming companies for things they willing go along with and why I'm convinced many new type players will buy TS5's MMO if it turns out to be one.

So far, what I have seen of Paralives impresses me in the build mode department, but I am less impressed in the CAS and live mode areas. That is of course, subject to change. One thing the Paralives team did, that EA probably has not done, was start development on the next generation game about 2-4 years after the original base game was released instead of (A) Not hiring new staff for the new project with one or two of the current developers to show them the ropes, and (B) Waiting until development on the current game is over so all the developers on hand can be redirected to the new project. If they are hiring new staff for Sims 5, good on them. But if they are only waiting until the developers are freed up, the end project will suffer.

The only way I would invest in a Sims 5 MMO would be if it (1) Was not littered with ads or required ads to fully enjoy the game, (99% of all free to play mobile games) (2) Had a quality single-player experience that permitted game cheats (Game cheats are a problem in MMOs), (3) Had continuing development on both the single player and multiplayer experiences, and (4) Did not nag me every day or every few hours for premium content requiring real money. (Love Nikki Dress Up mobile game, I'm looking at you. Love your game, love that you can actually enjoy it without paying actual money, hate your daily nagging for money in the form of popups before you can actually start playing. Ditto for Matchington Mansion, Gardenscapes, and Homescapes match 3 decoration games, and Diggy's Adventure.) Path of Exile (on Steam) has a better promotion system and can be enjoyed without paying money: as long as you aren't a hoarder who needs multiple stash tabs like I paid for after several months, or additional character slots (they give you enough char slots that I did not pay for those until 2 or 3 years in). Most players just sell off their extra stuff to the in-game vendors, and not everyone participates in new challenge leagues or wants multiple characters.) I usually will actually willingly pay for content if I can enjoy the game without paying for more than 6 months, and the more features I see in the game despite this, the more I am willing to pay for later. (See also Love Nikki.)

One way a Sims 5 MMO might be worth it is if say, a Sim had a "community area" to travel to, something with festivals, prizes, or additional types of game currency for instance, and the community area was where all the MMO stuff took place, and the rest of the game was operated single-player. If the whole thing was an MMO that cost money to play, I would avoid it for the same reasons I have never played World of Warcraft. Speaking of paying real money, I also hate limited time items that require real money to get. (Yes, Path of Exile and Avakin Life, I'm looking at you.) It isn't fair to those who need to save up for this kind of thing, or are temporarily out of work, and encourages excessive bragging both in game and outside the game. If you use ads instead of the limited time paid content, please make them not so noxious by say, putting them on billboards in the game, posters in the game, branded content, recognizable ad characters as Sims in the game, and ads or infomercials on Sims TV programs (yes, we players enjoy watching TV with our Sims).

The other issue with an MMO is that online games that involve player chat often involve trash talking like putting down other players, bragging about superiority, privately discussing "mature content" or similar activities with other players, or trolling. Let's just say I was playing this online chat game when I stumbled upon some players whose avatars were sitting in a group, discussing what "physical activities" they would like to do with each other. Then there was the guy who tried to coax me into video chat. Unfortunately for him, I am both happily married (currently in my early 50s) and don't have a webcam attached to my own computer. Spamming can also be an issue in online chat (Buy our product! Buy our product! Just click this link!) With guild games, lots of things can go wrong in guilds, just like they can in business partnerships. My husband stopped playing one of his online games because of guild issues.

I have been playing The Sims since 2001, when Livin Large came out. My avatar deliberately looks like Chris Roomies from TS1.

I don't know, I love Maxis, but I don't want a TS5 MMO and might have to jump ship and go with Steam's game.
If Sims 5 is not MMO, I will try it.

According to their development page they been actively at it since september 2018, and what they are planing next is to work on the interactions, which I think is their main obstacable. To get their charcters to interact in an interesting way

Yes, I plan on getting Paralives as soon as it's released (possible 2021)

I think some people want a multiplayer and would be willing to pay $80 for the game then be charged a monthly fee and fees/microtransactions for every new experience or content. I can't even relate to that type of player. I can't even relate to players who willing pay EA Play fees every month and having all their gameplay saved to the cloud. It's hard enough for me to deal with just downloading a game and hoping a company won't close down it's servers or no longer support a game they discontinued. .

i can assure you nobody likes the world of warcraft pay to play subscription model! problem is, more and more greedy companies, EA leading the charge together with their greedy friends at activision-blizzard, are making this outright greedy business model the new normal. this is why i just stick to old games nowadays. if TS 5 will be an MMO or have a mobile F2P economy in it as in microtransactions that paywalls content i paid for when buying the game for full price i will not bother with it, simple as that! then i'll just stick to TS 3 and 4

You also have to consider that we are in the internet age where there is anonymity. Who are the consumers exactly who buy these games full of microtransactions and loot boxes? The corporations can hide behind the anonymity of the internet and have their employees pretend they're customers who can't help but buy these awful, money-hungry games. So I don't think it's consumers but a facade of consumers who give the impression that these types of games are popular. I'm at the point where I'm very skeptical of reviews and posts in places like Steam or Amazon or YouTube, etc.

I'm with @DanmanNefarius. I'll just stick to the older games and only look for new games that aren't live service, have loot-boxes and multiplayer (co-op is a different story and I'd welcome that), etc. Those old school games are still out there, and they're pretty fun.

For people who only play The Sims games, I would encourage you to try other genres so you can get your fun fix some other way besides The Sims. That's what I did and I'm not really dependent on The Sims anymore. Besides point and click adventure games, I found out I also love action adventure games, 1st-person and 3rd-person shooters, survival games (that aren't scary!) and harvest moon type games. I even like time management games that are considered casual games. All the games that are my favorites have no microtransactions, loot boxes or live service and the few online that I love are co-op.

As a Patreon supporter, I can assure you we have been given more detail on exactly what the work plan and timeline look like.

i know people do, and that's why we must continue to expose the truth about the endless immoral greed of dirty companies like EA. people ned to stop buying into this and send a clear message because you are right about one thing: as long as people keep buying it this nonsense will only get worse over time because greedy companies like EA only care about money and are monitoring how far they can take this and get away with it. so i will continue to encourage people to boycot TS 5 if it will be an MMO and thus be littered with scummy microtransactions because it is EA and EA has a sick obsession with revolting F2P monetization scemes, noit out of need but out of pure immoral greed

Let's just say I was playing this online chat game when I stumbled upon some players whose avatars were sitting in a group, discussing what "physical activities" they would like to do with each other. do not count on this when EA is involved! EA has a sick obsession with F2P mobile game monetization and wants to spread this disease to all their major titles. there WILL be ads and there WILL be paywalls and other disgusting monetization scemes of TS 5 will be an MMO not to mention they'll aim for a monthly subscription fee after you paid full price for the game to even be able to play. just look how utterly disgusting WoW is atm due to Bobby Kotick's insatiable greed, and EA is just as immorally greedy as Activision-Blizzard: money at any cost is the only rule for these greedy dirtbags

I haven't checked out paralives, but I know that I'm not going to buy sims 5. If they don't fix things in the sims 4 and move forward with a sequel, I might drop the franchise.

If they do a good job with the Sims 4, I may consider buying Sim 5 after the packs I'm looking for come out. And, I will be waiting until I see content that currently does not exist in the Sims 4. I will not consider a Sims 5 until after I know that Merfolk AND Underwater gameplay is a feature. They did that, at the bare minimum, for the Sims 3. I expected it for the Sims 4, and I will be expecting it for the Sims 5.
