Now that Paralives is an actual real thing people won't have to deny it anymore (Steam has a whole page dedicated to it) will you buy it and or continue to wait on TS5's possible MMO? After reading all the job openings for Maxis new AAA game, it's very possible (looking like it's true) that TS5 will probably be multiplayer in some form or fashion..will you jump ship with Maxis?
How Many Plan on Buying Paralives vs TS5? 166 votes
Yes, I plan on getting Paralives as soon as it's released (possible 2021)
No, I'm going to stay with Maxis and wait to buy TS5 or whatever their new AAA game will be
I don't know, I love Maxis, but I don't want a TS5 MMO and might have to jump ship and go with Steam's game.

If it is appealing, I will grab it. If it is not, I will ignore it.
But Maxis seems to be on track to build a AAA game that is possibly not at all my cup of tea (at least I did buy a lot of TS4). If Maxis does do that to the Simming community I may have no other choice but to go with Paralives, because I do really want a new 'Sim' game and the new has worn off of TS4 for me a long time ago and time for a new game. It offers so many things in it that I wanted in TS4, the fourth iteration of The Sims, but doesn't have or wait years to see...so yeah, I'm thinking more and more about that little Indie game more and more. If it was soon I know I would go ahead and try Paralives and possibly buy it if it was released within the next few months.

So glad there's competition out there! It might make EA think about how they go about creating the next generation of sims.
If and when Sims 5 comes out and it looks interesting to me I'll be getting it no problem.
If I end up exploring 3 or 4 different simulators at the same time that's no problem either.
If nothing is being released...I just play with what I have. No Problem.

(I.E Stonehearth, I see a lot of red flags with Paralives dev posts that I saw with Stonehearth dev posts that I didn't regonize then)
Mostly it's the "You can do everything in this game". A lot of inexperienced indie devs fall into this trap, they are so concerned about every little detail and wanting to put out the best possible product, which is not a bad thing at all, but then they fail to account performance, until they're so far into developement that fixing the performance issues would be near impossible. At that point there's only two viable fixes, rewrite the entire thing (one survival game I managed to forget, did this with good results) or keep building onto something you know you can't fix because rewriting would take too much resources. Mostly what they go for is the latter.
So the way Paralives devs keep promising the world, is a huuuge red flag to me. But if they release the game and it will be good, I will buy it. Right now I remain skeptical.
Also I won't buy TS5 if seasons & pets are not already integrated into the base game. I have paid for those expansions four times now. Time for something as integral to life as animals & weather not treated as extra.
However I'm 99% sure this won't happen, because this is EA we're talking about, so I'll just keep playing TS3/TS4 forever, I guess.

I've seen the graphics and they don't wow me, but they are bright enough so it could still be a good game for me.
I'm also sure I'll try "Sims 5" when it's released even if it is an MMO because I have a few friends I know I can play it with if it comes to that. I doubt I'd pay for a subscription though unless it's as a lark for a few months. I have real issues with ongoing subscription support of any game if I'm not playing and enjoying it constantly. I've only done that once long ago, and there were not many other games that I was interested in playing at that time. I will seriously hope that it has a single player mode .. like many other games I play now. I'm assuming if all this turns out to be true it will. I have a bunch of games now that I don't pay extra for.. I just join someone else's server and play with others that way, or I can still play little games like Raft without extra cost when just playing with a few friends. So I'm not assuming it will be pricey beyond the initial game cost (or sales cost) either way.
If I can't play it single player though.. and it doesn't have the elements I want a sims game to have then I will be disappointed. Mostly because it would probably be many more years until another Sims game comes out. I sat through not playing Sims 3 .. so I can sit out another game if I don't like it. I'll still have Sims 4 if that's the case and other games I have or might have (including Paralives).

If Sims 5 is going to be a purely online MMO, there's absolutely no chance that I'll buy it. If it just offers an MMO mode but is still offline, I may consider it. If it somehow looks like it will be much better than TS4 and I actually like the art style.

I will wait and see once it's released if the gameplay can actually make me overlook the "look" of the parafolks before I contemplate buying it.
I do like the push/pull aspect of freely being able to adjust counters, desks, sofas, windows, lamps, etc. And as a CC creator, I'm sure I would immediately want to start creating for this game as well but I'm concerned about how the textures and patterns (such as florals, wood grains, geometric textures, etc) would stretch on the object when using that function.
But I don't think Paralives will be released any time soon (probably not for another 2-3 years or more), and it's also quite possible that the game will never actually be finished.
As far as TS5 as a subscription service and/or MMO type game ........ that's not my jam. I play Second Life, that's enough of a "socialization/competition" type virtual world for me.
So TS5 will more than likely be a hard pass for me.
That said, I need more information first. If the new games have anything resembling story progression, then no thanks, my Sims 2 and 4 serve me well enough. I'm also worried that neither game might support mods (Sims 5 as an "anti-cheating" measure and Paralives iirc stated they'd release their own style packs, problem is that those packs most likely won't be the elf ears and robot parts that I'll eventually crave in my life simulators.)

The look of sheer terror is priceless, lol!
I'm quite happy with Sims 4 so if a Sims 5 comes out it will have to have something amazing for me to get it. I'm having too much fun with Island Living and Snowy Escape to give that up for a Sims 5. At this point nothing has been confirmed about a Sims 5. I probably won't get it though and if I do it won't be at release. I don't see any need to when I can just keep playing Sims 4.
Either game I won't be getting as soon as they're released. If I do decide to get Paralives I will still play Sims. At the moment I'll probably have Paralives for building and Sims 4 for gameplay.
