In the meantime, I guess I won't be playing any more, or buying the new pack.

Oh, no, and you just got a new computer too I wonder what makes it difficult to play on this version of a macbook pro specifically - I've played on a 2015 macbook pro and now a 2020 one, and I've never had any issues
