Reviving Ghosts from the Netherworld

I’m pretty sure its not possible but I wanted to check on here.

My favourite legacy sim died and I forgot to save her to my library before I sent her ghost to the Netherworld. I don’t want to spend ages in CAS rolling genetics with her parents until I get a sim that looks similar to her.

For ghosts that have been sent to the netherworld, is it possible to bring them back with cheats?

I dont think so, I think they a permanently deleted from the game.
Do you have a save prior to her death or prior to sending her ghost to the nether?

I'm sorry. I don't know if there is a cheat or not. Perhaps, someone who knows far more than I will come along. @rosemow can you help out, please?

Actually, this is not possible. Once they have returned to the nether, there is no way of bringing them back unless you have them saved in your library and can edit them into the current save then, no. I've tried bringing mine back with the book of life, voodoo doll, spells and even cheats but no, once they are gone, they are gone. You can however strength their bond to the material plane to keep them from slipping off into the nether but once they go to the nether they have essentially crossed over and have no unfinished business so they can not be brought back.

Oh okay, guess I’ll just have to play around in CAS for a while! Thanks guys! I really should learn to keep backup saves 😂

To add to what others have said, ghost npcs get culled after a point. They even have what's called a commodity for it that decays over time, tho I believe based on what I've seen in the code in the past that them getting culled can be delayed somewhat if you do socials with them; like it gives gains to the commodity, which can offset the decay. IIRC, sending them to the netherworld sets that commodity to 0, which as you can probably extrapolate would cull them then and there.

Not the most clear thing ever in the design of it. Unintentionally deleting a ghost aside, I remember back when this game was a lot more brutal with automated culling. In the early years, I remember an experience where a sim I was married to who was an NPC got culled and I was like ??? Really bummed me out. I think the automated culling is way better now, but culling in general is still not the most clear feature in design, as a whole, and clearly can result in mistakes like this. From an immersion standpoint, nobody is gonna want to see a notification that their sim was deleted every time they send it to the netherworld, but it might be a good idea for them to make some kind of triggered-once tutorial info/warning for a thing like that.
