It took awhile, yes. But not too long. It's not a lonely world without the premades because I put copies of all my favorite created Sims from other saves, plus generated Sims I'd kept and modified and NPC workers, etc. in that save as not-in-world to wander around and do their jobs. It's fun seeing all my favorites every time I play and knowing exactly who will be my mail carrier, gym trainer, etc.

I love the dolphins in Sulani, they're so cute! I love it when they splash your Sim sometimes before they leave.

There's a hanging chandelier with candles I like to use for my off-the-grid homes. I think it came with Jungle Adventure.

It is nice, I love it! But I understand why doing that wouldn't be for everyone. I just have a lot of time on my hands since I don't work outside my home now.
I used to play like that, with the sound off in TS2. Mostly because our computer was in the livingroom and everyone else would be watching TV and I didn't want to disturb them. I almost always have the sound on now for TS4. Except perhaps like in your case, when Sims are noobs at karaoke. They can make your ears bleed! o.O But, I love all the ambient sounds in the game otherwise and wouldn't want to miss hearing them.
Well, that's a bummer. Maybe give that lot the Geo Thermal lot trait so you can have regular lights on despite it being off-the-grid. I love that tiny saucer light. It's cheap and so bright! You'd never see it in screenshots either, so it wouldn't look out of place. Just an idea!

I did turn on the voices once because I wanted to hear my Sim (Oliver from my Legacy Challenge) singing. I was blown away by how nice his voice was. But after that I still removed the voices from my game because I just can't stand the language. I did uploaded this little video of him singing just because I liked his sound of voice so much
For some reason it was lighter inside that hut when I opened the game to play the next challenge. That game is just playing me! I think the lights you're describing are the lights I also use in most of my lots. So flashy!!

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to the lighting in this game. Some lots have much better lighting and others always dark. It's weird. I dislike the default yellow lighting hue too. I always change it to the neutral white color in all my Sims homes.

The only times I head out is when I go visit my dad (I live together with my boyfriend and his family), and that's not much. Last time I've seen him was Christmas. I also have to head out on Friday for my next exam. Oh, talking about my exam! My first exam this Monday was... Weird. They first give you a true/false-question and under that a few more open questions. BUT when your true/false-question is answered wrong, your open questions won't be corrected. That's such a stupid way of making up tests, because my open questions are alle filled in, but I just don't know about some of the true/false-questions. Very annoying.
It's okay!! The video is only like 30 seconds anyways, haha! I never really think about the voices and I don't miss them either, but sometimes I do get curious about the voice, how it sounds. From a lot of Sims I had, I never heard the voice.
I can appreciate the yellow lightning, especially when combined with the light from a fireplace. It makes me feel so warm, just by looking at it.
We haven't visited our Son and Grandkids either since Christmas Eve. However we're going for a visit this next Saturday and I talked to my 3 yr. old Grandson tonight because his Daddy said he wanted to tell Grandma about the pizza he helped make for dinner. Ugh, that does sound very annoying and not very fair either with the test questions.

Oh my gosh! Mother Wolf is so cute! I loved that you kept to Tarzan's story about being raised by wolves. So funny how Jane S kept calling her a doggie! Did Jane B really give her a berry? Or was it really a dog treat? Regardless, very smart on her part, guessing Mother Wolf loved that. I hope she liked Jayne. Hard to tell from the screenshots. Bummer she got tired so quickly, but I guess it's understandable since she's older. Can't wait to find out which lady won the solo date. Crossing my fingers for Jayne! 🤞
