I like Sims 4 Seasons, simply because I can turn off temperature effects on Sims and not worry about them dying. I never played Seasons in 3, but in 2 I didn't like the notifications to bring them inside or they'll freeze.
As in real life, simply be mindful of how cold (or hot in summer) they are by the thermometer and responding accordingly. Never had a problem with that in all my many of TS2 playing, which is ongoing. A major plus in the TS2 version is the ability to determine which neighborhood have which seasons, mix and match as you please. Snow is infinitely better done as well, and we get a cute penguin visitor.

I loved the penguins in Sims 2. Wished they had those type of visitors in 3 and 4 game.
I didn't even bother to buy TS4's Seasons and it is one of my most favorite EPs in The Sims. I like TS2's season set ups for each lot and hood better and how long or how short I can make them or just change it on the fly. But I do like things to do in the pack better in TS3. I enjoyed the kids trick or treating, and my teen taking her brother etc. and the parties and events with each season. But I liked Santa visit better in TS2 because I never had enough room in a house in TS3 to place the gift giving tree most of the time. ETA: I really enjoyed death by lightening and freezing in TS2 until they patched it and mostly removed those threats.
