gaming chair glitch

My sim rescued a gaming chair from the dumpster, and after paying 500 to restore it she can't sit in it, either with or without a desk. is anyone else having the same problem?? is it a glitch?? also when my sim found it it appeared in his personal inventory not the family one. as though it's an object not furniture???
