Wow @GalacticGal Good for you. I have done that on occasion, but game back up is taking too much of my space. In fact i have to go searching for old back ups to throw away. I have the Pre- For rent save on an external and another space on my laptop. I save only the important saves on external and update and throw away every so often. I had to back up from the Pre -For Rent save- so it was a lot.
I had to re do all my game progress, builds, moving families, re-establishing all the residential rentals...
Pretty much almost done, few things here and there.
I only kept residential rentals for the townhouses in San Sequoia. I t was 13 units there. I went to add my celebrity apartment building I made from 2020, and alway had in my game and the game started acting up again. When I loaded the lot was not residential rental but generic. I think the game stops at a certain percentage of you population to housing crisis ratio. I quit the game without saving and left it "roomies situation"
I dont know if it will get fixed but the set up is so time consuming.
I hear you. Hubby got me this ginormous new external hard drive, we're talking about so many gigs' worth. I haven't yet put it to use, but I will today before I take my next steps in my Cantrell household. Should For Rent make things go kablooey, I will be able to salvage things, hopefully. Yeah, I'm feeling rather insecure about things since both my original gaming rig (desktop) died and then my laptop died, too. If I were a Sim, I'd have the Fear of tech failure affixed to me. LOL
This tread is very long and first couple of pages I see the first part of the issue- I dont know when they start to discuss the corruption of the save file and the lots as I am experiencing and the work around, and I would like to part-take. do you know what page that part of the discussion begins?

It's long @mightysprite but I found the part you described where the simmer explains how the exclamation point takes every lot in the thread last night and the lots dissappear. Sounds terrfying; Straight out a Stephen King novel.
I would like to take the time to read the entire tread more carefully. I restored my game to the pre for rent save and everything seems good now. I am also going back to the original game lots, where possible, as I found it speeds up my loading screen wait times tremendously. I'm going back to my renovations game. I am taking the main room of the bakery with me to insert into the original shakers gym and put the gym on the second floor and renovate the building myself.
I did see the other thread about glitches but I think my pics fits better here.
As you might know, I do not patch my game. The last patch is over two years old. And I'm Offline! And as you also might know, I like to take my sims (and/or random townies) into CAS every now and then to change their appearance. But where did this necklace come from? I have never ever seen it before and it was not marked as CC. And I have not been downloading any CC necklace.
Or this pants, I have never seen them before! There were new shoes too... How odd...
@MrManyIdeas those items came in the patch that added the style influencer career back in 2018
So it's some kind of "hidden" CAS objects that get unlocked by the career? The lady in the first pic is in the style Influencer career (and in the same family as the teenage girl) so it make sense. To be honest, I have not explored the career completely so thank you for the help.
