Steam question

I just got a Stem account about 2 weeks ago so I could play House Flipper, it's very relaxing. My question is, is Steam supposed to update every single day? Because so far it does every time I open my computer and it's annoying. I thought Origin updated a lot, but they have nothing on this.

It shouldn't. Mine only updates every few weeks or so

Hmmm. I wonder what's up then. I get a dialogue box saying verifying update installation with a green bar swishing back and forth literally every time I open my computer which is pretty much every day.

I think that just means it's checking if there are any updates.

Like icmnfrsh said it’s just checking for updates. You can stop it though from running every time you start your computer.

With Steam open, click the Steam menu, and choose Settings.
Click on the Interface tab, and uncheck the box that says:

"Run Steam when my computer starts.”
