I need some clarification as to why Journey to Batuu costs the exact same in the US on Origin as all the other game packs but here in Canada it's $29.99 instead of $24.99.
Now that we know this Game Pack is $5 more, are you surprised? I can't say I am in the slightest. It's one of the biggest cash grabs The Sims 4 has pulled this far. Release a pack no one wanted and jack up the price because its Star Wars.

Journey to Batuu Price? $5 more in Canada on Origin? 99 votes
My reasoning is that this pack is to introduce Star Wars fans to the Sims franchise and unlike us they probably do not eat up everything with their franchise name on it, so EA had to put a little more effort into Journey to Batuu than into a normal Sims GP? Thus warranting a higher price.
(I'l wait for a sale in any case.)
Since EA owns the rights to Star Wars, I'd be surprised if they charged more for it.
EA obviously doesn't own the rights to Star Wars. They just have the license from Disney. A portion of this game pack's revenue will be paid as royalties to Disney, so it can be argued that this pack should be more expensive than other packs.

They have the rights to Star Wars video games. They signed that contract in 2013 -- it's a 10 year contract. That doesn't mean they own Star Wars. They don't. But I should have been clearer that their rights were only for video games.
Edit: But you're right in the sense (and I'm wrong) about royalties so perhaps this GP will cost more. The argument isn't who owns the rights -- but whether that means they have to pay royalties.
Actually, Star Wars is George Lucas' baby. He owns the Original 3 plus the prequels. Disney owns the inbetween stories & sequels.
While Star Wars is indeed George Lucas' baby, he doesn't own the original 3 plus the prequels. Disney owns those. George now owns a lot of money and stocks on disney (although the disney stocks may have gone down a bit lately?)
Sorry, i voted wrong. All game packs have the same price. And Moschino has the same price of all other stuff packs too...
I thought you were asking if the trip to the destination world Batuu would be the same price or more expensive than going to Granite Falls or Selvadorada 😅
There a sucker born every minute and EA has the motherlode. They will no doubt double there money on this pack even the haters will buy it just to take a look then complain they wasted there money.

It could also be argued that it should be cheaper. Disney really wants to attract young female viewers, and partnering with The Sims is a great way to do it. So maybe Disney should actually be paying for this opportunity.

Most problably Disney has put some money on this. It will be a well done pack i think.... just not for me

Haha, no, nothing is going to make me buy this. I wouldn't even get it if it was given to me for free. I don't want these weird alien masks to roam my normal sims worlds... No thank you! The gameplay doesn't seem interesting for my kind of playstyle whatsoever. There is not a single build & buy or CAS item in the pack that I could use. The only thing I'd be remotely interested in would be that new game table option, but I won't mess up my game for that... And anyways, as lots of special items were re-introduced with later packs in a new design anyway, I am sure I will see this table and animation again in another pack.
I simply don't want Star Wars in my game and nothing will change that.
I would have thought about getting it if it was an active Astronaut career and a generic space pack because that might be cool, even though it's not my favourite pack option. But I am so not getting THIS catastrophe of a pack. ^^
I don't quite understand the question Isn't the thing that all GPs cost the same? If they contain too much for the GP price, it would rather be an EP that costs more?
Btw, I think the GP price is fair. I would need to pay almost the same for a ticket to the movies and a chocolate. I assume playing this GP - being SW fan or not will keep the simmer entertained for much more than the typical 2 hours that a movie lasts.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just make it a theme park, so everyone would have enjoyed it. Almost everyone wants theme parks...
As it is, it's not even a full space Star Wars pack. It's a vacation world (you can't live in it) and the aliens aren't species, but masks... It's story driven and not sandbox. I feel bad for the people who wanted more out of this.

Yeah you mention all my negatives about this pack... I'ld pass on everything besides the sandbox play. That's what i like about the sims. Let's wait for the livestream to see if we can customize it so that it isn't always the same story/experience.

TS3: Katy Perry Sweet Treats was $10 more expensive than other stuff packs. As a result they didn't officially refer it as a stuff pack.
