What's your favorite career in Sims 4 in 2020?

I'm curious to know what are your favorite careers that you tend to pick for your Sims in Sims4? Either with the base game or the additional game packs. Some of my favorite ones include, the Actor's career (GF), Writer (Base game), Entrepreneur (GTW), Lifestyle Blogger (Patched in), and once in a while, the Doctor/Nurse career (GTW).

I try to have each of my people in rotation with different careers as much as possible. My favorite careers still remain the 3 from get to work. I wish we had more like that with work places and goals.

I have to go with Scientist. It's a great career for rags to riches story.

Scientist! Not only do I love the Area 51 vibe of the lab in the middle of the desert, this career also unlocks new potions and unique inventions that your sim can use in their everyday life as you rise through the ranks, whereas most other careers only give you decor items, outfits, and/or alternate versions of objects you can already buy and use as it is, with no real motivation to get promoted other than the paycheck.

I like the objective-based gameplay of active careers in general, even if it becomes repetitive after a while. If only the other active careers were as good as Scientist! Detective would be more enjoyable if it didn't force you to go through several loading screens in a single work day, Actor has you wait several days in-between gigs (provided you even remembered to look for the next gig the moment your sim came home from the previous one), and Doctor is annoying in many ways, what with doctors not staying with their patients, too many patients at the hospital at once and the game berating you for not being able to treat them all, diagnoses being a guessing game, co-workers doing nothing, etc. The vet career is better in that regard, although it also tends to spawn too many patients for my sims to handle.

Other than that, I enjoy archaeology. I realise it's not a career per se, but gets pretty close to a freelancer or stay-at-home career once you reach level 9 of the archaeology skill and allow museums to send you artefacts for authentication, with the occasional trip to Selvadorada to find more artefacts on your own.

I know it's not technically labelled as a career but I enjoy running businesses. Whether that be a vets, a restaurant or a retail store :)

I prefer keeping my Sims at home and work on skills. Writing, gardening, and woodworking are huge moneymakers at the higher levels. That way they have flexibility to go to festivals, which often conflict with work hours.

One of my sims is in the Villainy chapter of the Secret Agent career and I only just discovered the other day that they have a "Tranquilising Handshake" interaction which causes victims to collapse to the floor in a deep sleep. So I'm having fun with that!

The other career that intrigues me is the vet but I'm too cowardly to open a surgery.

    Scientist.

Favourite thing to do is run a retail store but it doesn't count as a career.

So far, it's police officer from GTW. I like it because I can actually go to work with him, and make his on-the-job decisions for him. He's a corrupt cop, so he makes some very entertaining choices :p

BUT, I did try the doctor role as well, and for some reason, after a few plays it quit giving me the option to go to work with him--not sure what's up with that

Same here. For some reason I always that by now they would have added that same gameplay experience from GTW with the majority of careers or at least the newer ones in recent packs.

I don't use the police officer career too much but I have, it is fun too. Especially when your Sim has to investigate a crime that took place at one of your own Sim world locations, lol. That's weird about how your Sims Doctor career doesn't give you that option anymore. You may have to make a complaint about that. I wonder if it's a bug.

Actually it does. It's called, Entrepreneur and if you like, you can register it as your Sim's career by using the phone. Even though EA has adjusted how items are priced and the profit Sims earn, I still like running retail stores in GTW, too.

Yeah, my favorite is Actor, but I totally agree with what you said about having to wait between gigs. Which is why I recommend having your Sim get the ability by earning (or cheats) to "skip" the auditioning process so you don't have to wait several days between gigs. lol.

I also think my Sim actors should get paid a lot more like actors in real life when they land a big role in a movie or tv. Maybe, they will finally adjust that. Otherwise, many of my actor Sims end up having to do various freelance work on the side or the Archaeology stuff you mentioned.

Which I also enjoy because its a lot of fun and your Sim can earn a lot from sending artifacts for authentication, too. In fact, I almost wish I really do that kind of work from home (or travel) archaeology stuff in real life!

I love playing scientists with the active career. I enjoy the gameplay the most.

I also enjoy not giving a Sim a career and letting them dig for collectables and harvest plants to sell.

I only have one Sim who owns a business (veterinary). I don’t play it very often, I usually just have her stay home and paint.

I also love when my sim's painting fetches for like $10k or more! I think the highest amount I saw a painting appraised for was up to $15k. Then, your sim can turn around and sell it for twice the price using street gallery which is finally working again.

Yeah, way too tedious. These are the ones designated as freelance careers in the career section and it came with the wardrobe and everything. Yet, it requires so much waiting around and completing some really mundane and seemingly unnecessary tasks to get one project done! I tried it a few times and just said forget it.
