As clichéd as this sounds, most of my life.

When was the last time you dressed to not impress?

Last night when I took advantage of unseasonable warmth such that it was only jacket weather and we could go out and dine under the stars. I just had on jeans, a t-shirt, leather jacket, and cap, so really not dressed to impress. Just clothes I'd go run practical errands in.

Not even sure what it means to "dress to NOT impress" because it could mean dress in order to disappoint or annoy someone on purpose, or it could mean dress without trying to impress. I took the second meaning.

Meaning you wore whatever you wanted. You weren't out there to put on a fashion show for anyone.

Yesterday. One of my old MP3 players broke and rather than just buying a new one which would have been a total cop out any way, I got to work and sutured the thing back together and fixed the play button reattaching the internal power cord to the tiny little mother board on the interior of it again and it works like it did when it was brand new.

Last week, I forget which day, I actually wore the Harry Potter pajamas I still own, all day. I kind of hate them now, and they're wearing out anyway, so I ought to just get rid of them. And I usually don't bother with pajamas per se, but sleep in a t-shirt and drawstring pants, which I will continue to wear around the house unless I need to yank on some jeans to leave.

    WWTLTY dressed up?

Last night I said 'thanks' and somehow he thought I was being sarcastic and got defensive, and I had to explain I was being earnest. It's shocking because he knows me better than anyone else, yet took me that way. If I'm angry enough to come at someone, I'll come frontwise, never sideways. Sarcasm is always for humor, for me. Never a weapon.

I can't truly put a time on this, but once I started to have true peace of mind and not be anxious over anything, and to just enjoy life without life's distresses, then I felt happier and could genuinely smile and mean it.

Quite recently. On the waitlist for a specialist in fact. The humbling part is realizing that everything I thought I knew was baloney, and that I don't know squat.

When was the last time you were accepted for who you really are?

I'll answer that in two parts:
Family-wise, my close family members have always been a strong team (as we're also carers for one of my sisters) and we're always open with each other so, in that respect, every day that I'm with them (which I am extremely grateful for).

In wider society, that's difficult to pinpoint because I rarely show much of my real personality to anyone outside of my family (who I can trust not to hurt me). I have felt accepted into groups before, as they were friendly towards me, but have never been quite sure if they'd accept the full me, so I kept a lot in as a result. So, it's possible that I might have been accepted for who I really am but just didn't believe it. (It's something I'm working on).

It's a thought provoking question though because what actually constitutes who a person really is? Especially since things like personality, likes and dislikes can change throughout our lives.

I think it's a very good question, so I'm going to ask the same again.

Not even once in my life I felt accepted. Whether I was accepted in reality remains unknown.

About 10 years ago during university. One of the only close friends I've ever had (I take a long time to open up to people in RL) revealed a very different side to herself when she and my other friend fell out. (We all were sharing a house at the time but they got on each other's nerves).
Because I remained neutral during their dispute and was trying to keep the peace, that apparently made me a horrible person in my 'close' friend's eyes.
I realised at that point that I had never meant as much to her as she had to me (she was the first friend I had ever really been able to form a close connection to since middle school. Hah, that says a lot about my judgement).
I can't be dealing with the emotional stress of constantly falling in and out of a friendship and never knowing wether someone actually cares or if they're just pretending and secretly using me, so I decided to break all contact.

And there you go. In a way, it's good that it happened because it gave me more confidence to do things on my own.

WWTLTY laughed so much that you cried?

@PriestessBizarre That is terrible! But in the long run, surviving comes first, and though it may not be easy to find another job eventually, jobs can be replaced, but lives cannot. Hugs to you, and hang in there. We're all hoping that medical science will produce a way to control and end this pandemic and allow us to go forth.

@WhatCobblers That's rough, but relatable. It's not easy to have stable longterm friendships in adulthood once you're past uni...they tend to be produced by the workplace and we all know what a fragile social network that is, lasting only as long as the job lasts for both parties. Modern lifestyles in the US in which there are a dearth of truly walkable cities, and a longterm emphasis on consumerism, media consumption, and the workplace as the primary activities of adults, has left almost nothing of a genuine social infrastructure, and social media has taken care of that in a most insidious way. But the pandemic may have given us a reality check on what matters, and what makes for happiness, and it's... access to one another. Maybe we'll come out of this with different priorities.

As to the current question, that kind of laughing is pretty commonplace for me, as I'm a jokester at heart and we're always teasing each other and cracking jokes around here. It helps that hubs has a generous laugh and always plays along. So I'll be doubled over laughing and that starts him laughing, til the tears are in our eyes. The last time was yesterday, and it will probably happen again today, as he had both days off and we're doing some kitchen remodeling, so power tools + a couple of beers and us being together is likely to result in comic exploits.

We're lunatics, but we have fun!

When I moved into my current place just over 2 years ago but it was really just moving furniture around. It felt strange (and slightly liberating) being able to pick my own furniture for the first time though.

@Nushnushganay thank you for your comment. Yes it is a shame what modern society seems to be turning into and we definitely all need to have as many laughs as we can! 🙂 Here's hoping for the future.

Hoping not today. We've ripped out antique base cabinetry and are about to rip a hole in the counter to make room for the stove, rip out upper cabinetry (handmade, and well done, solid wood, makes me sad to do it but it's necessary) and install a stove hood. This will also involve going downcellar and relocating the wiring for the stove, cutting a new hole in the floor for the stove outlet, and cutting a hole in the exterior house wall. And we realistically need to get this done by tomorrow. What could go wrong? :D

Haha, I'm pretty competent at cooking, so I don't have a lot of disasters, but the Great Gingerbread Massacre picture below was hilarious. I had put cinnamon candies on, before baking. Should have realized they'd melt, but couldn't have anticipated that they'd make such a montage as that! One of those accidents with cool crazy results.

ohhhhh....better one: many years ago, I purchased a huge bag of isomalt and used it to make a syrup in place of corn syrup for a pecan pie for the holidays. I knew isomalt could cause GI distress...but the enormity of the problem was in direct proportion to the portion a person consumed, and...let's just say I never made desserts with isomalt syrup, again.
The notorious isomalt gummy bear pranks you hear about on Youtube are not exaggerating.

Errrrrrm, I'm not sure my dancing would be classed as dancing. I tend to just bop or sway on the spot (or usually on a seat) to music instead. The last time I did that was at my sister's birthday party early this year.

@PriestessBizarre Am sorry to hear that your work colleagues have treated you so badly, and good on you for standing up for yourself! I hope you do find a job with nicer co-workers in future.

When was the last time you did something mad on a spontaneous whim?
