I've been using the winter as an excuse to hole up inside basically all winter. Meant to do things differently, but when it goes from autunn to freezing rain, howling winds, driving sleet? After holing up indoors from that for a few weeks, I lost all weather-hardiness and was therefore not interested in taking a hike in subfreezing weather even on days when it was sunny, dry, and no windchill.


When was the last time you did something you wanted to do, just because you enjoyed it, for as long as you wanted to?

When a neighbor was drunk and putting his wife down (in some truly awful ways), to others, even in front of her. I started losing my cool and had to leave because breaking his nose wouldn't teach him anything, wouldn't help her, and would get me jail time.

Have never actually been on a 'date' date as such. I've met up with friends and family for evenings out and cafes/meals if that counts? Last time I did something like that was last September.

Several years ago.. Missed a few steps on some stairs and took a fall. It didn't last long though, which was great.

When was the last time you researched an interesting topic?

I do it pretty frequently, but it also depends on what you mean, because there's 'research' as in look for more articles on something that caught my interest, and then there's 'research' as in scour PubMed and other sources for abstracts and articles on something I need to know about with greater depth. The first kind of casual-interest research is something I do just about every day. The second, more like once a month or so.

A while back when a friend of mine had gotten really sick and had to be admitted to a hospital.

I must have done it at least once in my life, but I seldom pass up the chance to debate if someone's willing. Too much sitting down and shutting up by the population not targeted by injustice, has allowed evil to prevail for too long. We need more people who aren't themselves the victims, to be willing to call it out, go toe to toe and nose to nose. Just heard another news story. 9-year-old girl cuffed and pepper-sprayed. NO EXCUSE FOR THAT. I think the only way we can fix the racist police problem, is have at least half the force made up of people of color and that includes at the top.

So yeah... agree to disagree is good for personal tastes in food, music, religion, philosophy...but certain things, we can't agree to disagree, or we're complicit. Hate coffee? To each his own. Hate or hurt a group of people because they're not your color, orientation, nationality, or religion? That's not acceptable, and it's everyone's business.

What the... a nine year old?! That is utterly appalling and whoever was involved in carrying that out should be ashamed to look their own children (if they have them) in the eye.

To answer the question: last time I made a new friend? It's difficult to say as I'm still not entirely sure what classifies as becoming officially friends with someone.
If I've spent time chatting with someone then I would regard them as a potential new friend I've made, but I don't know if they would see me the same way (and I'm usually scared to push it any further).
How do you cross the threshold from being aquaintances to that pot of gold that is friendship?
