Thanks for posting this. I felt like changes to decor had changed more than they said, I had just assumed it was bugged.

It's not the first time either that they've implemented changes and not included them in the patch notes. I really wish they wouldn't do that, it would probably stop a lot of bug reports.

I'm glad Carl is feeling better too. I was wondering about him after his Twitter posts a couple of weeks ago.

Good video. I don't understand the changes they make to this game sometimes. I guess they wanted to make it so your sims are not happy all the time because your room is decorated...so they made it...random?

I never really cared that much about the decorated moodlet other than it made my sims a bit too happy, so I did not mind these changes that much, but I really did not like those new animations that came with that update where they yawn and say "aha" constantly.

Good to hear that Carl is feeling better.

I don't quite agree with him here.

The Well-Decorated moodlet was too overpowering before. It overrode any negative emotions and lasted entirely too long. It made your sims happy all the time. Which doesn't make sense. Are you happy all the time because there's a nice painting in the room? No. Then why should the sims be this way?

I'm happy that they put a 2 hour timer on the the Well-Decorated moodlet. It shouldn't last anymore than 2 hours. This timer makes the game more challenging.

I think they should maybe get rid of the randomness of which objects create a Well Decorated moodlet, but I also think they're headed in the right direction of making the game less easy.

The game was way too easy before, and wasn't Carl complaining about that before? He seems a bit inconsistent to me.

I really hope they DO NOT get rid of the timer for the Well-Decorated moodlet or increase it for more than 2 hours.

You know I was having the total opposite, I never got the well decorated moodlet and always got the BAD decorated moodlet but the room was fine , my sim just didn't like the wallpaper and flooring :(.

I think they are trying to tackle the problem where sims are always happy with this changing decoration moodlet

cause like ive been having a blast lately with my sims having actual moods besides happy and i wish they dont change it back

but sure they could fix the bad decoration one cause it shows up at most random times and makes u feel bad about your decoration skillz

I hate the happy decoration moodlet. It renders the angry moodlet hot-headed sims get useless.

I agree, this is a step in ANY direction which is an improvement.

still wonder why they didn't tie the decor into the traits system: Childish sims like children's decor, Genius sims like nerd junk, etc.

    This.

Example what made me back then yet again to install another mod:

Sim: "My mom just passed away, I am so sad!!"
    Sim goes inside.
Sim: "But hey! That is okay, I have that ridiculously expensive super ugly painting at my wall! I am the happiest sim in Sim Nation, YAY!!"

My love, my love, my fearless love, I will not say goodbye..
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..

I turned off the decorated moodlets with meaningful stories in my game, I don't like that system at all. I want my sims emotions to be affected for important things that happen in their lives and not just for materialistic reasons.

I could have sworn I read about the environmental effects now being timed somewhere, because I wasn't surprised by it at all. I don't have meaningful stories installed and I hardly noticed the difference.

I usually take Carl's videos like this with a grain of salt. Not because I don't think these are new things, but because he and I play the Sims 4 with very different goals in mind, so we sometimes have different perspectives on what's "game breaking"

Didn’t watch the video yet but I really wish the decor in the room did not have an effect on emotion unless your sim is materialistic.

I have been using mods to remove the happy-modlests from decorations for years so I did not see the change.

Sounds great if they are making the sims be something other than happy at home.

@bixters well yeah but the thing is that since the cool down between the buffs is about an hour and then you get the buff again it means you will almost always have the buff active anyway. The 2 hour timer really doesn't help if it's constant.
But I'm glad the +2 and +3 are rarer cause that means no more always happy sims.

My moodlets seem to be very balanced of late. I have the Eco Lifelstyle NAPS disabled so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

ALSO, I have the illness issue Carl had! I have not been tested but my husband was and his was negative. Three weeks this has been going on. For now I am being treated for bronchitis. Its awful. I feel for him and his partner.
The Sims is NOT a game, it's a lifestyle choice.

My Plumbob is GREEN today :D

Oh I can see that. Maybe they can make the decor buffs go off only once or twice a day, and that's it? It seems kind of pointless if it keeps coming back every 2 hours.

lol I redid my living room about a year ago and recently I was about to go in my bedroom when I caught a glimpse of it and thought "My, that's a nice living room" and then thought "Wow, I am a sim" so I get the happy decor buff. HOWEVER, I assure you the thought wouldn't have even crossed my mind if I'd just caught my spouse cheating or seen a ghost or absolutely anything else that produces a negative emotion. I mostly don't like it when it overpowers other emotions that are tied to what's going on. I like the once or twice a day idea or maybe they could get it only after redecorating/adding new items?

I've said this before, but the well decorated buffs should be tied to a environment need - so if you have a low environment need bar, you get bad buffs and if you have a high environment need bar, you get good buffs. I don't get why they have to complicate everything with every 🐸🐸🐸🐸 feature. Just simplify it ffs.
