Mods DO NOT absolve our need to Grow and Improve the game

«1
I think it's great that we're getting more skin tones, and also that they're fixing the existing ones. This is long overdue.

But I also think this quote is relevant from SimGuruLynsey's video:

Mods DO NOT absolve their need to Grow and Improve the game

If this is the case, then can we please improve the sim's personalities? Better traits, better aspirations, a better emotion system?? I shouldn't have to rely on mods for this.

If they want to make a quote like this, then please follow through!

If EA can go 6 years profiting off Sims 4 and people buying all of the expansions without fixing personalities why would they stop? Less work for more money.

But if EA is suddenly racist = boycotting the game/ruin reputation during this political/racial climate = #EaIsOverParty/EA cancelled which means no money.

I cant imagine them addressing these other features. I dont think EA will fix it
The Sims has currently lost its identity. Bring it back for TS5

There was a very recent survey asking about fixing personalities etc, so I think they will, it came out only a few months ago, like February/March etc.. I don't think they'd have asked so many questions about it if they werent going to fix it. I'm expecting it was voted highly and so they'd have started working on it, meaning it'd prob come out sometime in 2021-2022 ish.

That being said, I hope you are right. I don't want them to change the personalities and prefer them how they are now.

We really need to come at EA this hard over lack of personality’s, attraction system and lack of creative license (color wheel/create a style) we can make a change! Our voices can be heard.

I can't play with mods only Sims 4 games.
I want the devs to improve the game only.

They've just been prioritizing the weirdest things for this iteration. Half of the stuff packs we've gotten could have been sacrificed for core game content that is sorely needed, like Fears and improved personalities, and more swatches for skin, hair and eye colors. The photography revamp and the Eco overhaul and pack could have waited, as could several other things.

It's just bizarre. Sims 1and 2 had more intuitive releases of dlc for filling in the gaps of the game. Sims 3 started off weird but got it all out within 5 years plus extras, and here Sims 4 still doesn't even have distinct personalities for the Sims, or proper genetics, or a memory system, or preferences or likes and dislikes or Fear or a wide selection of Traits that change behaviors or the ability to create relationships in CAS. And we're approaching the six year mark.

It's no wonder there is unrest and players are starting to ask, "What the heck is going on over there?"

We have so few traits . Many of the ones we do have are very minuscule, in that they shouldn’t even be a trait, because liking dogs is not a personality 🤦‍♀️

I agree, I also ask myself what is going on over there.

Their priorities for this game have been so weird. We get firefighters and ladders after six years, they collaborate with MAC but instead of making similar makeup like modders have, they make some really weird looking makeup, we still can only have two columns in CAS, forcing us to use mods if we want more. They spend the resources to add a color wheel to Cats and Dogs but not sims?

Do they even have a plan for finishing this game?

They prefer surprising us, also I don't think they'd be past the research point yet, if that, deciding exactly what to implement, and how, and what can and can't work, etc. So they wouldn't want to say "Hey we're doing this" and then it doesn't work or isn't ready for 2 years type thing... it'd be really way too early for a video. They'll prob introduce it in a live stream or something a few days before it comes out, like they did with firefighters, the stair tool, terrain tools, etc, but I wouldn't expect that for at least a year at this point.

Indeed, I wonder when and how they're going to implement improved personalities, but I think at least something will be added after those surveys.
As long as it's a free update and not part of a new system unique to a pack.

We have players complaining about the color of their Sims coffee. Lattes look the same as black coffee and so on. Do we really care about this or can we focus on true improvements?

I am all in for improvements but to be honest we may need to let the small things go. The problem is the small things for some are big issues for others and it goes the other way too. I do not know how the creators manage with all the feedback and demands. We need to focus. Focus on what is important to you as a player. It can be anywhere from the color of coffee to real babies or more traits. It's all just waiting game to me.

I think the bugs need to be fixed before adding more content. Then someone pointed out that some bugs can't and may not be fixed (like the sims 3). They also said my statement may have ended the game if they listened to me.

I like that we as passionate players think differently. I believe this is one way as humans we get things done.

I have learned that one or two focused voices on the right platform does more then thousands of voices all voicing different things. Keep talking about what you want and need. It's not going to happen overnight. I believe they hear us even though they are not acknowledging it. It's still a waiting game for me.

I am one of those complainers. I mean, who drinks Black Cappuccino, come on!

I'd rather have my in-game cappuccino look good, than improved personalities, an attraction- and memory system, or game play with actual consequences. I don't even care about those bug fixes.
Since we're at it, I'd also like to be able to add marshmallows to my sims' hot chocolate! :p

I was actually talking about important things, like the Sim's personalities, if you didn't read my statement. I think the Sims 4 having shallow personalities is pretty important, and they haven't addressed it in 6 years. Not sure why you think it's "small." It's probably the biggest problem with the Sims 4.

I'm not complaining about something minute. This has been a complaint for years.

It's more like, Maxis doesn't want to be cancelled by twitter over racial things. When it comes to the actual gameplay of TS4 it's a totally different conversation, especially since most people who play TS4 now, don't even actually play it. They just create sims or build, share screenshots online and then get bored of it for a day or two, then rinse repeat.

This is the problem. Players have to rely on mods to enjoy the game. That shouldn't be a thing, and they know it. We've been saying it for years, and they even admitted it in this statement. Whether they back it up with action is yet to be seen....

Indeed, I worry that they'll end it in an incomplete and broken state. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce The Sims 5 (the Sims Online part 2) in early 2021.

I think it's wonderful that they updated skin tones, but what's the point if nobody wants to play the game? Sims can be as diverse as they want, and that's how it should be, but who will play when it's just not fun?

Totally agree. The Skin tone update was long overdue, but there are still a lot of core gameplay features that need work. And I worry that they'll never get done. How long can the game possibly go on?

I feel like half the time players are furious all the time because of their horrible content release pattern.
